Ford and Mazda had a strong relationship until 2008, and a lesser relationship until 2015. For many years, several parts were interchangeable! I just bought a used Milan with a 6 cylinder engine, and I'm awaiting delivery. I've always had good luck with Mercury, and other Ford products. I'm not a 4 cylinder person, even though the engines are much better than they used to be!
