I have a 2011 Fusion SE 2.5 as a daily. Bought it new back in 2010, just hit 220k miles. Here are the things I had to replace; 2 Batteries, PCV valve, valve cover gasket, oil pressure sending unit, coolant outlet, and here shortly I’m going to replace the thermostat and engine/transmission mounts. I’ve done all the maintenance and repairs. Pretty solid car.
@@abbasmo1580 about $500 worth of parts and I did the repairs myself. Just hit 240k miles. I had a Civic and transmission went out. Few months later, timing belt gave out and engine went to sh+t.
I just got and I am proud to say that I'm a owner of a 2010 SE Ford Fusion with that same engine. And so far so good. I do agree that the fuel efficiency is way off way off. But I enjoy the car it has a lot of room. I do agree that if the car wasn't so heavy it will be a little faster. But I am most definitely looking forward to taking my car out of town with the mileage that it has on it, 125,000 plus miles. The only thing I've done thoughts far as change the oil and had the recall about the airbags done. But we will see this is 2022 so I most definitely have to figure out you know what's what. But I did do a Carfax report on my vehicle and there were no accidents and they did the regular scheduled maintenance on the car so the car was very well-kept. Actually, if I had to rate this vehicle so far it gets a number 10 for me.
Couple of things to note the 2.5 l engine yes it's low on power but it sure beats the 2.3 that it replaced before hooked up to the 5-speed transmission. Also I had to replace a water pump if you ever do that make sure the person knows what they are doing because that water pump is typically seized up in there and they have to apply heat to get it out just don't let them get a crowbar and start beating it out. The transmission issue you were talkin about is a common issue with the six f-35 my 2015 Ford escape with the same transmission does the same thing you just have to let the transmission warm up for a few minutes and you're good to go. Great video I wish you had more info on the radio I would like to put that kind of radio in my 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid. I really like your double DIN cover. I have a Ford Fusion 2010 hybrid the difference between mine is it is an Asin CVT transmission the engine is a 2.5 Atkinson cycle engine. It has 160,000 miles on it and shows no signs of slowing down.
I have a 2010 Fusion SE. Absolutely no problems. I did some preventative maintenance: changed the idler pulley to the three point of connection upgrade, changed the TB (because of the recall/TSB), Changed the tensioner pulley bc of whine, and added a Steeda Swaybar and strut tower brace. Also replaced the HVAC blower because of some chirping noise. Replaced the battery. Never had a problem with the 6F35 trans. I change the Mercon LV out before it turns brown/black. Both driver's and passenger airbags have been replaced due to Takada recall.
I have a black 2011 SE This is the best car I've ever bought. I bought it for 900$ 86,000mi and had it for 3 years and I haven't had to change anything major just breaks, a belt that a rock popped in, reg. Oil changes, normal maintenance and a couple light bulbs and now about to get a tune up.. I've traveled to 3 states and traveled statewide. Hands down best ever. This car is perfect, I just wish it was a standard shift not automatic but it's still my baby ❤ I love it..
Mine completed 160000 mile today. 2011 Ford Fusion SE - 2.5L FWD. Major repairs, breaks (3 times), tires (3 times), 3 pulleys and a drive belt. Front Sway links, all the filters have been changes 2-3 times, major light bulbs have been changes once, still on original wheels and floor mats, wind screen and no transmission oil change. Synthetic Engine oil changed at every 5k-6k miles. Car is on 2nd battery. And has an engine light on for Purge Valve, due to filling the tank full all the time. Driven in Toronto winters but still has no rust on body. Underbody is neat and clean. Runs like a dream.
Mr. Brotherly Review: Nice video and review.....I know this vid is a year old but I am going to comment, Bought a 2010 Merc Milan Premier with 18 k in 2012 3.0. v-6 This vehicle along with the 88 Merc Grand Marquis LS are two of the best cars I have ever owned. 72 yrs old... Took 2yrs for the airbag recall to be resolved on the Milan waiting for parts.Another recall was the led Milan tailights. Ford replaced under a recall. Bad LED connection insides the taillight assembly. thats it. I am changing oil like clockwork, never more than 4k between changes. 5 w20 full synthetic. Valvoline. Trans service, airfilter etc. I do pull the throttle body and clean every 20 k. Vehicle has 86 k and runs and drives like new. I know 86 k is not a lot of miles but just an excellent car, 30 mpg hwy at 65 mph 23/24 mpg local driving Yes I like Mercury Had a 2000 sable with 200k body started to go.. Figures Mercury is no longer so long
I have the 07 model 2.3 liter backed by the Mazda 5 speed automatic. Just normal maintenance, at 120,000 I replaced all brake pads and rotors front struts and rear shocks , right lower ball joints the left side was done at 102,000 , and rear hubs and the valve cover gasket and plugs , has 142,570 miles oh and because of winters I replaced the left rocker panel. I don't care what vehicle you own after a 100,000 miles it's normal to replace these mentioned above unless an individual does a lot of highway driving, I live in Michigan so the combination of bad roads and winters I'm very impressed with the reliability of these cars.
@@filipetavares3413 just normal maintenance, oil change every 5K and every 30K transmission fluid drain and filled. Drain and filled my coolant, I need to do that again. Other than that I went through 2 set of brakes and one set of plugs. Valve cover gasket.
266k miles on my 2011 2.5 SE. never had it in the shop ever, not once!!! Daughter wrecked it day after she got her license, but I drove another 6k miles climbing over the seat since driver’s door was crushed. Best car ever. Bought a 2012 with 80k on it after that. Still going strong.
I've got a 2010 model SEL 2.5 Tuxedo Black, Navigation, Sony music box, tan leather. Bought from original owner @ 126k. After almost 5 years she's @ 213k. Best car I've ever owned.
100K on my 2011 SE Fusion. It also hard shifts when cold. No biggie. I do change fluid every 30K though, regardless what Ford says. Thanks for sharing your experience. Good Video.
Hey man! Nice review!! I really like that body style of car. It’s very good looking. Today, I picked up a 2012 Lincoln MKZ! Pretty kick ass comfortable luxury car. I sold my bright red BMW X4 M sport for it, it was just too expensive for me. I had it for over a year, and I always had to live so financially tight, that I couldn’t have any spending money. I got sick of that, so I picked up the Lincoln, for a great price. It’s a really good car. I plan to keep it for a long time. I wanted to ask you, you said you had the 2 L engine, which has been very reliable, I’m glad to hear that. Is the 3.5 L V6 engine reliable? That’s what I’ve got. Thanks!
Look for the 2011 if you can. 2011 and 2012 had some differences with the steering wheel controls, and none of the 2010 models have automatic headlights.
I have a 2012 Ford Fusion 2.5 I4 with 90K miles on it. Runs like a champ and I take care of it in every way I can. Still has almost all original parts and I've only put about 200 dollars into it so far.
I like your vid. I have a 2017 se 2.5 l. In the mornings after the engine warms up, I drive down the street, stop, make a turn, and after the first shift it feels like it slips but after that it works fine. The fusion 2.5 is the most solid car wish it was faster like you said but it’s a sacrifice between reliability and power.
The most common problems for these cars are fuel pump issues, because there built into the the camshaft (genius idea right?). Anyways, that slipping could range from transmission all the way down to a faulty spark plug.
I used to have a 2011 Mercury Milan Premiere. I got the car in late June 2012. It had a little bit over 11,000 miles on it. I totaled the car by hitting a deer the 2nd time in early December 2016. It was a good car to drive in. It was the same as a Ford Fusion inside. I did wanted a Ford Fusion in 2012 that was a year old car. The dealership had about 5 of Fusions but, had almost 40,000 miles on them even a little bit higher price. I choose the Mercury Milan which had lower in mileage and even the price, too. It was my 1st car with Bluetooth and Satellite in it. Even the first with a keypad on the driver’s side door. I knew how to used a keypad on a Ford vehicle because my parents had it on their vehicles from Ford. When I first test drove the vehicle that I really liked the ride. My parents even liked driving the car, too. They did took turns in driving it. I got used to it by riding it. Right now that I’m driving a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black. It is my 2nd Ford Escape. I used to have a 2015 Ford Escape but, it died on me. Before the Milan that I used to drive a 2005 Ford Focus ZX5 with SES trim level. I had that car for almost 7 years till I was in a bad car accident in early March 2012. I broke my left ankle in that accident. My first car was a 1998 Ford Contour SE that I gotten in mid October 1999. I even gotten my driver’s license in that car in mid December 1999. I had the Contour to late May 2005. I’m into Ford vehicles since I was little. My mother used to drive a Ford Pinto which was the most dangerous vehicle from Ford. My mother was a very safe driver.
I bought a 2012 ford fusion SE. Had 115 miles on it when i bought it In 2021 and recently lost it 😢 it got totaled. I miss it very much. It was a very good reliable car. Had no problems with it. Just got the brakes done, tires and obviously oil changes..
Our 2006 Chevy Cobalt just had a fatal heart attack (timing chain, for those who know😢). We are absolutely stuck with needing a new vehicle right now this second. Knowing these dire circumstances, would you still recommend a 2010 fusion? So far everything looks aces on reviews. Complaints appear rarely. People LOVE this year in particular. Thanks to anyone who can respond!
I’m looking at a 2011 Fusion SE , the car has 179.000+ miles on it The car does have a little Rust towards the rear of the vehicle but not bad , it’s either the Fusion or a 2012 Focus SEL with 117.200 miles which is in better condition than the fusion I’m looking at, both cars are being sold for super cheap I’m undecided about which car I’ll buy, I don’t drive around much I do that at work (Amazon Delivery) lol I’ll only be using the car for transportation from home to work.
Awesome video man, I am actually looking into buying this car right now! Can you tell me the details for the Apple Carplay unit you're using to get all those features? I think in the video you said Maestro RR, just want to confirm
I have a 2012 SEL, and it does me just fine. The thing will go when needed, no issues passing someone or merging. For a 4 cylinder its above expectations and the gas mileage is fantastic. I can make $120 door dashing and spend $20 in gas 😂
Had to replace the front driver side shaft and support bearing plus seal 🦭 left and right , and belt tensioner over the years but a great vehicle, I’ve had all the good ones in the past in the seventies, Mustangs , Chevelles , Dodge , Chrysler and this is the best car I have owned .
I have a 2012 eel fusion 2.5, so reliable I got it at 17 and at 21 I put 30k miles on it easily and only had to do the brakes, valve cover gasket as well as the whole front suspension with cv axles but the suspension was still solid for the most part. Amazing vehicle for a daily if the transmission and engine goes I’ll most likely just throw in a new drivetrain
I swear that 2.5 I4 engine is up there with Toyota reliability, along with the Buick 3800 V6 engines. I'd definitely recommend any vehicles with these engines as daily drivers. Great review. I definitely want a 2.5 Fusion.
I agree. I’m a little over 220k in my 11’ SE 2.5, bought it new. Minimal issues that I can count on my hand. PCV valve, oil pressure switch, valve cover gasket and coolant outlet.
i had a 2010 fusion hybrid i loved that car but dumb me i gave it to a family member that needed a car and now i wish i would have keep the car never and any problems with it and it had 150,000 miles when i bought it and it had 201,000 miles when i gave it to a family member and the car was still running great
Like that you got the newer factory 2012 wheels on yours makes it look like a genuine 2012 model now compared to the cheap bolt on covers the 2010 and 2011s had on the SEs
@@BrotherlyReviews I own a 2010 Sport in silver with the bolstered leather interior with the blue racing inserts. Was my Dads brand new originally. Ours has never seen a winter and is always stored. Has low miles 23k and is very fast with that Aisin T80 6spd and 3.5 DOHC 24V Cyclone High Output V6. Love these cars
@@BrotherlyReviews yours is very nice and you're correct the Mazda 2.5 Inline 4 is super reliable engine they also used that in the Escapes and Rangers of that same era. In which we had a 2007 Ranger base never any issues
@@evanlovestdwp his might have that as an dealer negotiation added accessory. Weird cause the SE is a mid trim level and they all mostly came with that standard. Then again I see some SELs that also didn't so depends how it was ordered. Only model that came with everything was the SPORT and that trim was its own trim!, yet I see some SPORTs that dont have moonroofs and seem just as stripped down as a base SE with exception of the High Output powertrain all SPORT models come with as standard equipment
Where did you get the underglow lights? they look really nice on the interior, the 2017 Ford Focus SEL came with an integrated underglow interior lighting system which i really miss tbh makes the car look nice at night, where did you get the ones the fusion have?
@@BrotherlyReviews are they easy to install? Ive heard missed reviews especially in regards to the adhesive alot of people say to get aftermarket adhesive cuz the ones that come with them suck and they be Fallin off lol
The ones I have use 3m tape on each of them. I’ve had them for about a year now and haven’t had any issues with them. I’ve even moved them around a couple times and they still stick.
I have a Fusion 2012 3.0 V6. I just upgraded my turn signals to syneticusa. I am looking forward to replacing high beams with H7 LEDs but I don't know if the dust caps would fit back on with LED lights. Could you share which high beam you use and whether you had trouble with putting dustcaps on afterwards?
I bought my 2010 SEL 2.5L with 66k miles a year ago and I love it way better than the malibu I used to have. Are those the stock fog lights or did you buy them?
@@BrotherlyReviews Yep, same with a Lexus ES330. The intake plenum is bolted in the back to some brackets right up against the firewall...super hard & frustrating to get to. I think the engineers design things like this on purpose so owners don't work on their own cars. They want you to bring them to the dealer service dept.
Same car. Only mine Is SEL. No spoiler had the entry / lock keypad. Same style Same light display. Different rims. After 8 years. Having to replace the tranny lines to radiator. But these ford's MOVE. Over 90 they become loose. Mines dual exhaust and double catalytic converter. But man. Same body and all. My miles are way less for a 2011. Like 85000. Mines fully loaded. But you got a good ride. As soon as I fix mine up. Prolly trading it in.
I bought a 11 fusion. Has 191k on it right now. Backing up has some clicking but worse on sharp turns and does it at first forward moving and goes away. Rides awesome and reliable. CV axles maybe?
I have a 2012 ford fusion SEL AWD with 119k have had it for 8 months and love it just put magnum flows on it and getting ready to put an intake on it trying to improve the gas mileage only get 20 mpg on the highway
Can you share the link for the head unit that you changed to get apple car play - im considering buying one of this and apple car play is a must for me - if you could share the link, pricing and installation details, woulds be really helpful
@@BrotherlyReviews found a much better deal. Bought a 2010 with 62K mikes for 6K. The car is in great condition. Going to get it detailed over the weekend.
huh. toyota fan but maybe picking up a family owned fusion 2010 SE in great shape, from California, with 46K miles. N0t sure of price yet but kBB around 6-7000 private party value. But concerned about transmission/steering problems among other things..it being a Ford. but maybe might be good for the kid for the next 4 years of college.
@@BrotherlyReviewsI got a 2011 3.0 for my Turo fleet. I stayed away from the 3.5 due to the design where the water pump is internal. I don't want maintenance being that difficult for a part that should be semi easy to change out should it go bad. With the internal water pump you're just asking for trouble.
PCV Valve need to be replaced but is located behind the intake that has to be removed and as I understand should be replaced every 30 thousand miles Don’t you just love it
I want to purchase this 2010 Fusion Ford SE card with 198K miles, its $3200. Is it worth it? It's had only 1 owner and he claims hes kept up with maintenance, im just nervous.
Sorry for my delayed response Do you know what engine it has? 4 or 6 cylinder? If it has the 4 cylinder then that’s the best engine for reliability. I would definitely get the maintenance records before you purchase, to make sure .
What issues are you having? I only know they’re notorious for engine failure if you don’t replace the water pump on time, but that’s about it. Most engines will do that.
The 6F35 is a transmission known for failure, but a lot of it also has to do with maintenance. Mine would occasionally slip between either 3-4 or 4-5 gears when I first start driving it, but once the trans fluid reaches operating temperature, it doesn’t do it.
My town car weighs 4300 pounds and has a 4.6 tops out at 104 mph with 280 hp and that fusion will smoke my car man I'm thinking about fusion or a Sonata
@@BrotherlyReviews had the 08 2.3 fusion love it so I jump to the 2012 from there I think that's the final best of the fusion........fallow up for me.....
@@BrotherlyReviews future common issue is battery pole connect valve cover gasket....maybe alternator or water pump....change thermostat now and your safe....drill a 1/4 inch hole on thermostat before in stall to safely take out air bubble or air packet.... That about it... Change all oil to time...
The trans in the 2.5l and 3.0 are known to give issues, but like most cars it’s due to lack of proper maintenance. Mine had 225k when I sold it and no issues with the trans. I always drained and filled the fluid once a year.
I think the 2010 - 2012 fusion is worst used car you can buy because of the eletric power steering issues. I think it's like rolling the dice with one of these cars...
Brother, are you exposed a lot to latinos? I felt at home when I saw the XD when you were picking your nose. Nice car, recently got one 202k miles and it's rock solid, you made me feel confidence with the purchase. Appreciate the content, god bless you!
