I really hate when the words “bargain lenses” are used to describe Voigtlander lenses. These may be less expensive than the Leica glass, but bargain puts sort of a negative twist on this beautiful glass from the start. Pair these up with a Leica M 10-R or Leica M 11 and you are in for a visual treat.

The 50mm apo-lanthar really shows how much lens technology has progressed over the years. You don’t need Leica to make a good M lens. The craziest part is 50mm apo-lanthar only costs < $1000.

I have both 35 and 50mm Summicrons and APO Lanthars. The Voigtlanders are VASTLY better lenses. Sharper, better corrected, no field curvature, and comparable build quality. LEICA LENSES SUCK.......

Voigtlander is making fantastic lenses. I love my 28mm you have here (the black paint on it has faded faster than I thought it would though... I don't mind it, I knew this would happen with it being a black paint lens, but surprised it faded so quick)... For 50mm I prefer their 50mm 1.2... that's my favorite 50mm I've ever used for me... love the versatility of that lens... at 1.2/1.4 you get that more artistic feel and stop it down to 4/5.6 its perfectly sharp.

I just purchased the 50Apo as the 50 Lux wasn’t getting much love. I have high hopes for it on my M10r, as the Lux will sit on my M10m for the foreseeable future. I picked the color skopar in 35mm (I hate 35) for my CL. Seems good there. I highly recommend the 21 SEM for full frame M.

I have both lens brands with my M and agree with your choice. I did turn towards Leica lenses after a while but not out of dissatisfaction with my Voigtländer lens but maybe for the character and indigenous aspect. Both Voigtländer and Leica eco systems are quite a jungle to navigate for someone new to them, but I eventually found my calling in terms of characters of desire. But money also plays in. I do go for "reasonable" but would maybe consider a Voigtländer as what I could justofy if looking for something like a Summilux or Noctilux as they are outrageously expensive, if you are not a professional. In all honesty, I think it is fair to say, that differences between a comparable Leica and Voigtländer lens is minute or to most even unobservable.

I love voightalder, but nothing beats the ergonomics and shooting experience from a summilux in my opinion. I own the 50mm lanthar. Love it, I use it in my SL2 in studio for its sharpness. But in the street, the ergonomics of the Summilux ASPH help me to achieve much better shoots of moving people, thanks to the tab and the focus ring being much more smooth than the Cosina.

Thanks. Clearly stated. I am an amateur, so don’t deal with clients’ preferences. I have the 35 and 28. Not Apo, because for me, size matters. It frustrates me to have part of the view blocked with the sunhood, as happens with wide angle. A 50 gives a great perspective, but is often too narrow for my shooting. The recently bought 75 and 90 are great to work with and I am happy with the results. A big drawback for me is that the 75 is f1,8. So heavy and big. The odd one out in the line. Question: does the 50 ultron or Apo with hood block much of the view in the 50 frame lines?
@kaskoPhoto
@kaskoPhoto Год назад
I have the hood for the APO but have only used it once or twice. It does block a little but really can’t say if it bothered me because I use the lens without it so much more. Lens coatings today are so good it really isn’t a factor most of the time.

Not on a Leica, but I had the voigtlander Nokton 1.2 ASPH on a Fuji. Voigtlander sure isn’t the one from long ago, they put out some serious lenses these days. I was blown away by the look and feel of the photos, but they never had that fake overly sharpened look to them that many modern lenses suffer from. And it was ‘only’ $600 USD new. I’d imagine the voigtlander lenses for a Leica are equally amazing and if that’s the case, $700 or so VS $3000+ Leica lens is a no brainer. The voigtlander will do 90% of the M lenses, the question is are those M lenses worth thousands more for that extra 10% or so

All but one of the Zeiss ZM lenses are manufactured by Cosina. (Only the 15mm Distagon ZM is made in Germany, by Zeiss.) Voigtlander is the brand name that Cosina uses for its own lens designs. Either way, Cosina is making wonderful lenses.
@arthurrsaker8893
@arthurrsaker8893 Год назад
@@rexgigout1472Interesting. I was under the impression that the lenses were to Voigtlander's design but made in Japan in the Cosina factory. It seems to me that Cosina/Voigtlander''s quality/value is an important contribution to Leica's survival, as the ruinously high cost of Leica glass deters many from buying into the system, shrinking Leicas market to the point that the production of the already very costly camera bodies, can only be sustained at a profitable level, by the availability of the much more affordable high quality glass from Zeiss and Voigtlander. For pros, tax deductibles help, but a lot of money has to be earned to be able to invest at that level.
