I’ve spent the last year working with the Leica SL2 system for a wide range of needs. When Leica reached out about partnering up to share my real world, practical experience with the SL2, I was incredibly honored and excited. This is just the first of several videos we’ll be working on together to show what makes the SL2 system so special.
This entire video was shot by myself and Nathan Hirschler with the Leica SL2, Leica SL2-S, and Leica M & L lenses.

I’m really happy for you, congrats!!! I couldn’t afford an SL2, not even by selling my 3 Fuji cameras. Luckily I don’t have to cause I’m very happy with them, just like you are with your Leicas. Isn’t that a wonderful thing, finding what makes you happy, what works best for you, beyond brands and looks, and be in peace with it?

SL2 is a monster and I think its best used when you adapt M lenses to it - Always been a fan of you and your work - your videos encouraged my transition to Leica a while back... and I have never looked back since!

Brilliant solid camera, I sold my Q2 too get a SL2s because the grip and feel and like a 35mm lens. Got a 35mm voigtlander m mount on it. Such a nice system, I did literally get a 28-70 2.8 sigma to use on it. But don’t like how the depth of field doesn’t adjust in live view, end up looking to see if got the details I wanted on the back of the camera. Anyway that lens is going back, just stick with my manual 35mm which suits my way more. Nice one

At some point I'd like to try the SL2. I borrowed an M10 a couple years ago and it didn't click with me, but I'd love to try this system just to see. Or maybe it's just film brain that didn't let it connect. Great work as always, dude!

Beautifully made video, convincing and concise. I'm seriously considering getting the SL2S for 70% video 30% photo. I have some questions for you. Can the camera run continuously on USB power delivery? How do you start/stop recording when you film yourself? I there a remote for it or you have to press the shutter?

Hi Mat, quick question please. There are few snippets where SL2 white lettering is blacked out. What did you use and is it permanent. I would love to tone it down, but afraid to go permanent… PS. I know there are few threads about it around but would love your take on it. Thanks in advance, Bob.

Hey Matt, just to let you know youtube's algorithm seems to be screwing with your channel. I'm subscribed, have all notifications enabled but still I haven't been getting any notification of your latest videos on the notification list. I even thought you paused posting for a time just to realize I was 3-4 videos behind, I even re-subed and re-activated all notifications to no avail. Afaik this is the only channel that I have all notifications enabled that has this issue.

Unfortunately it seems like that’s becoming more and more common with some of my subscribers. Nearly 3/4 of my views come from non-subscribers. It’s bizarre to me.

Could never afford a Leica. So I settled for the tiny Rollei 35S with the phenomenal Zeiss 40mm Sonnar. Have had it for over 40 years and would not trade it for any other. I only use this now and do not bother using my Pentax SLRs and DSLR.

@@azzalos The SL has everything that I need in a digital camera 'right now' tbh. But I would love to have the higher resolution ala SL2 with the low noise and low demand on storage of the SL2-S. The SL3 will be my 'future proof' camera.

Yet another enthusiast. I am too. I love it. But tell me, why would I want something that drains battery like an ex girlfriend, like, I last longer in bed compare to this battery life. Tell me why I should keep this? It has only been 13 hours since I bought it.

I guess in your eyes I'm just an enthusiast despite making a living with my camera, but I'm happy to help. What are you shooting mostly that's draining the battery so much? How much are you shooting, reviewing photos, etc. I used this system for a full year of wedding work, portrait work, even video work and only had 4 SL2 batteries across two cameras, two batteries per body.

@@mattdayphoto Oh I am so glad I did not returned it. I judged it too soon! I took it for a walk and blew my mind with the results! It dawned me, maybe, having a micro 4/3 sensor for the longest time, I am used to not charging it and still run for another photoshoot. I have to remember I have a full frame now. I love your offer! Honestly, I have been trying to figure out the red lines and how it highlights bright parts like some sort of zebra when something is too bright, how do I turn that off?

I prefer Fujifilm cameras. Gives me superb image quality. I find no reason to own a Leica which are prohitively expensive. Besides Fujifilm cameras gives me uncompromising results. I respect your views though.
