Love your content... so keep making please. I have used your KEH code in the past. This week I used the new "DAY" but KEH checkout said the code is invalid. JSYK.
Always loved your work Matt. Subscriber from Australia 🇦🇺. It’s been a great journey for over seven or eight years! Thank you! I look forward to your new videos!
I show maybe 10% of what Ive shot on social media. Sometimes I just show the bad work because I want to keep the good stuff to myself lol. Maybe im a part of that "noise" I dont know but Ive never had "influencer" goals with film photography. Psychologically, I think.. In all honestly......Its been about recreating the 1980s for me. I admit it. Its about B movies and just that aesthetic style overall. Im probably failing at it but thats ok. At least I am having fun and getting my visual form of CBT out of the way.
Probably the exposure of the meter is shifted because of the wrong voltage of your battery. The camera expects 1.35V and not 1.5V PS: Probably that was already commented a lot, but I couldn't find any.
Thank you so much Matt for all and congratulations for the 10 years. I hope to see your videos for more 10 years at least. I remember Ted from the art of photography talking about your channel many years ago, and I'm glad that happened and I went to see your content. Your videos has been inspiring and with a tons of knowledge over the years. Once again thank you so much 👍. Cheers from Portugal
Mr OG Film daddy Matt Day! I am a beginner youtuber and just posted a short using this camera. Thanks for paving the way for maniacs like me trying to show off cameras for views! Bless you man
I just came across your Channel. Kodak Gold is a warm film but your photos look anything but. Did you desaturate the warmth in post? Your photos look sterile as if they were digital.
So what you've got going on is 50x1.5=75mm, showing borders on your shot. I'm mapping out the math here to accommodate the full frame camera I have and what I need to use to get the most information when time rolls around to camera scan not just 35, but 120 and 4x5 (and hopefully 126 & 110 someday 😬). so the macro on the 35-80mm PK-fit I have would suffice despite it being manual (meaning no automatic lens calibration), and then zoom out with every format. Either that or the 50mm with a macro tube. Or maybe yet, if I ever get my hands on one, an 85mm
As someone who started out watching you pretty early on... drawn in by some of those early camera reviews... my honest take: I personally loved photography. I was born and raised still in a time where I learned FILM photography, not because it was hip, but because it was at the end of its (previous) life and my college had not really updated to "digital" yet. I found you and saw that you were a dude in the same place in life... my first child was born in 2013. Even though I have never met you, you were someone with a shared interest that was going through a similar place in life. So, of course I have "tuned in" for the reviews... but honestly, I have stuck around for the stories of your life... because I see my own "stories" there too. Stories of "life" is what lures me in... and I imagine it is for others too. It is hard to ask someone to be honest about their life... because that takes being vulnerable... but you have been. I can't speak to everyone, but long past your thoughts on the Pentax 67 (or otherwise,) I check back in to see "how the kids are doing... how are things going in your life." I'm a dude who had a lot of friends when I was younger (skate/punk rock) and now, not so much... just time to be a parent. So, maybe that speaks more about me... but, I like following you on this journey... because I am on my journey too. So, I just say THANK YOU to you for providing this outlet and for sharing about life... documenting... and cameras. Best to you and your family (and looking forward to your book arriving soon!)
"Took the remaining money and bought new countertops for our kitchen, a new sink and a new dishwasher" is the most relatable sentence I have ever heard in a lens review. This also means that for you the Voigtlander is literally everything and the kitchen sink...
I'm comfused by the versions of the Nokton 50mm f1.5. I recently bought a mint condition Nokton 50mm f1.5 Aspherical in LTM M39 mount. Its physically a different looking lens to this version. But straight off i took it out (adapted to digital) and found it to be softand low contrast Up to f5.6. I couldn't believe how poor the results were so did some more testing and put it up against a number of ohter brand 50mm lenses i have (Fuji and 40yr old Pentax 50mm f1.4) and they out resolve the Nokton 50mm f1.5 Asp to a large margin. Possibly the weakest lens optically ive even used. I sent it back but just wonder what was wrong with it. It was an ebay purchase from Japan and in absolutely beautiful condition so dont think it was an issue with the lens elements but also its a version of the Nokton 50mm f1.5 that seems hard to find when i google. It was LTM and i was intending to use it on my Leica IIIf but obscured the viewfinder too much anyway
Does the Canon R keep separate configurations for video and photography so we don`t need to reset the settings when switching between the 2 shooting modes? This involves basically the settings for ISO, aperture and shutter speed
For 5 years I was swiching between 35 & 50mm summicrons. Mostly shooting with the 35mm. But! Then I bought the 40mm summicron and I have never taken it off the camera. It is perfect for black and white. For film and digital. Call KEH and give it a shot. 😉
I don't really like "photography youtube" in 2024 - it's a whole world and I'm not interested in it. But - BUT - back in 2014ish, RU-vid was so helpful for finding info on random film cameras - troubleshooting problems, how to sync a flash etc. Yours stood out (maybe because I'd recently got a Hasselblad and needed reassurance on how I was loading it etc), and you were a skater and it was exactly the info I was after. Anyway thanks for that, congrats on 10 years!
I know I’m late, but I just wanted to make a comment. Film is also light-safe* after stop bath, or a water wash after development. Any silver that is exposed after the stop step cannot develop and will be washed away in the fix. This is why re-fixing isn’t a super big deal. Just thought I would point that out. *Jf you leave it out too long, the film will begin to print out, but so will a wet plate.
Thanks Matt for the last 10 years. I still remember my first video was when I was researching about the M3 and you video (the one you borrowed a friends M3 coz your m6 was in service?) was one of the handful of Leica film camera videos back around 2016. Thanks for sharing your life and photography with us, it does feel like we are growing in life along with you mate 😂 Slow and steady for another 10 pls 🎉
it is now 4 years since I'm back to photography and your channel was one of the first that I subscribed to - never disappointed. keep it up. God bless you Matt
Great video Matt! Long time watcher of your channel and it's always great! Should really comment more and give some encouragement to all the heart you put into your work.
Stay with original 6x7 or 6x7 MU but not 6x7 -ll I did have 6x7 ll for a few years did change 2 bodies (under warrantie )for shutter issue terrible squeaking and drugging while some photographer use 6x7 older types for last 30 years trouble free.
I think I may have been there when you got your first RB67. How long ago was that? Another option, besides sponsorship, is teaching. Some of your fellow RU-vidrs are running online workshops and so forth. I'm sure you could do it just as well as they have. In any event, happy anniversary times two.
I’m glad you’ve got sponsorships … they’re appropriate for your content. And without them, it’s very likely this channel would disappear. I didn’t know about KEH before subscribing to your channel, and after learning more about KEH, I decided to order a used lens from them. At some point, I might order a film camera from them … probably twin lens reflex camera. Thanks for everything Matt!!!
I can tell you why I keep coming back. It’s because you are genuine. You don’t put on a fake stage persona. You’re not scripted. You are simply yourself. Congratulations on all your ten-year anniversaries!
You were one of the first channels I subscribed to when my interest in photography began around 2016. Still enjoy your videos a great deal. Since then I became a youtuber myself, with a similar journey to yours: slow, steady growth over the years - leading up to doing youtube full time. Agree it is such a luxury to have this job, especially for a family man. Infinite freedom, barely any stress, getting to be creative, getting to follow your passion in life, and getting paid for it. If I want to take a nap, I take a nap. If I want to take a day off, I take a day off. If my family needs me, I never have to negotiate with my boss to be there for them. Best job in the world. I hope and believe that you will get many more years doing this Matt!
The work you make of your family and everyday life in the area you live has been the main inspiration on my work for the past few years, working on my second book at the moment. I hope you get to continue making the youtube videos, as they are always real and enjoyable for that reason. All the best from Scotland
I always edited my scans with adobe lightroom since i've already need it for my digital photos, what's the difference to edit scans with negative lab pro?
