My grandparents were born in Leicester in 1898 and emigrated to Australia in the 1920s. Thanks for showing me some of the sights they would have seen as children.
brilliant and really well done, great also to see more of matt fascioni's images, he pops up everywhere and will go down as one of the greats for many years.
Very little, if anything, ever changes for the better in Leicester. In my lifetime alone, we've lost so much valuable heritage to ticky-tacky buildings of no worth. Most recently, has been the announcement of the demolition of the Debenhams store to make way for flats. Now, I think that particular building is okay. Not fantastic, but not too bad. But how on earth can anyone justify the demolition of such a substantial structure merely 30 years after it was built? And that's the problem with Leicester. Replace, replace, replace. Great work on this video, BTW.
Problem is it’s constantly being dug up and the streets are always very dirty. Since covid especially lots have shops have became abandoned it’s a shame
It's interesting to compare the privately maintained paving at the outdoor part of the Highcross Centre, to the council maintained streets elsewhere. The Highcross streets are pretty immaculate, but everywhere else is grubby. The vast paving works carried out by the council in recent years is pointless, if they won't work to maintain them. Humberstone Gate, in the Haymarket Towers area, is horrible. The flooring in the Haymarket Bus Station is an absolute dirt magnet, and it's now so grubby it's starting to make the place smell real bad. The Haymarket Theatre steps and plaza are a disgrace.
Thanks no less to a greater extent to the mayor peter arseholesby who has fcked the city up totally with his anti car cosmetic projects at the tax payers expense!!!
What have they done to our City ! ! ! There were some beautiful Architecture and when Your go to places like Chester.Shrewsbury and York they put our City to Shame. And even as I speak they are building in our City fourteen Storey Flats/appartments that are made quick ,cheaply with poor to eye exterior finishes and architecture. I know some of the areas were poor industrial run down Buildings but that said there are some buildings like the "Friars" on the River Soar which they have restored to it's former Glory. Wake up the City planners what You are doing to our CITY.
