They both looked so perfect as Romeo and Juliet that i wish they would had doned for real. That would've been one of the most beautiful versions of this classic love story.
That movie was a flop...it was really savaged by the critics. I remember when it came out, I was eighteen. The original 1968 version by Franco Zefferrelli is the best and definitive version. Nothing else even comed close to it.
I never saw this show at the time, but seeing Leif Garrett brings back memories. When I was a 12-13 year old boy, I went through a phase of buying Teen Beat and other teen idol magazines. Those were the days of Leif Garrett and Shaun Cassidy. I'm not sure it even occurred to me at first that these magazines were aimed mostly at girls. I just liked them. My older step-sister laughed when she found out, and God knows what my parents thought. In retrospect, it was probably one of the earliest signs of much that was to come in my life.
David Cassidy Partridge Family you might put him ahead of both. Leigh was a looker it's sad how being in the industry can grab a hold on you faster than a blink of an eye. Some see Hollywood as an endless pot of gold, and sadly it is put sometimes ahead of an individuals life, we know that even with the right guidance things can and do go downhill faster than a speeding bullet, perhaps stronger rules of where applied there could have been a different outcome, sadly on some we will never know
I worked with Leif on a recording project in the 80s. I thought he was a good guy at that time. I never thought fame went to his head. Sad to see the troubles that came after.
I think being at such a tender impressionable age, being told your so wonderful and afforded all the excesses by sleazy predatory adults who just wanted a piece of what they could get out of him... It would mess up any kid. It certainly messed up a lot, especially during that era. Add on top of it parents that used their children as the primary bread winner and you've got a recipe for absolute disaster.
O...M...G. I was 15 in '79. Adored him. Even had a Teen Beat pullout poster of him on my wall. Never saw the tv special. Thanks for sharing some of it. Awesome!
I was a little younger but my cousin was 16 and gave me mags with him on the cover, that changed my life! I stared at his pics all through primary school and part of high school. Most Gorgeous teen idol EVER!!!!
Sadly. Brooke.could never. . act and was stiff on camera where Lief was a natural ..what a shame hollywood Blacklisted. him. There Is more to that story for sure ! His looks. changed. and they would not let him grow up .Then Drugs took over. The car accident he was in ruined him ..
Leif Garrett was the TEEN IDOL KING of the late 70´s. Those tight pants and that gloden curly hair were a huge part of his appeal......I remember even Shaun Cassidy was down for a competition.
That was not his intention. A friend told him when he set fire to his house then panicked and put it out, he was only caught putting it out and was hailed a hero. So he wanted to replicate that, but it went wrong, the house set fire too quickly and he was unable to put it out. So he got everyone out instead, and admitted to it.
keep your music going for us fans. what happen to you. believe me i still believe. in you no matter what. your pants were great and you wore them good. you drove the girls wild espically me. even though i have never been to an concert in my entire life. i wished that i could be there for you
Cool. Interesting to see . Have primarily seen Leif as a Dramatic Actor. [ He was always far better than many gave him credit for]. Outside of a few things , I really haven’t seen much of her. [ Blue Lagoon - and I was never a fan it that movie]. She too, quite talented. 📻🙂
Nice Comedians ,,You two.... Beautiful Voices... Speak of Thy LOVE 💘... Ha,haha, VERY funny Pushing Leif Down While on Ladder....... Great actors & Singers.....
@metalmickeyiscute I have the whole show on DVD. It's really good. I want to upload it here but i need to find a way to improve the picture quality first.
Rookie showed her natural gift for acting and comedy early on. Her youthful beauty is unparalleled in the universe. Never was there more exquisite teen beauty.
I was 13 in 1979 when I contracted, "Leif Garrett Fever!"...My bedroom walls were plastered with the maximum amount of posters that fit all 4 walls to the ceiling!..An elderly lady neighbour walked into my bedroom one day and was in shock!...She said, "Doesn't all those (Leif's) faces looking at you give you nightmares??!!"....The answer was HELL to the NO!!...At the time, I was in absolute ecstacy!..:-)
Brooke is so astonishingly beautiful...what a classic beauty. I wish she hadn't retired.😜 (I know she's only fourteen here. But I can still say that, right?)
@savannahzim1andonly he was the hottest guy of the late 70´s......the spandex-clad pin-up prince and definitely the King of the teen-pop-scene back then. I think even Shaun Cassidy could second that.
I think they taped the special over two nights. I was at the one night but have forgotten what they taped actually! I never did see the special when it ran on TV because we didn't have one at the time. I was never into fawning over teen idols but he was the only exception.
"Ah, verily that is true (about being the handsomest lad in all Verona). It is true." Ha, ha...that's so cute. Thanks so much for this upload. You gave me a good laugh! Some advice for Romeo: Thou shalt not recount past loves whilst standing on an unsupported ladder before the lady whose heart thou doth wish to win.
