Here's how you get 97 out of 100 : you build to the LEFT! - Putting a build on the very edge of the metal lets you DIG down the side, and building from the BOTTOM of the plate lets you stretch your way under the overhang. The valiant builder sacrifices himself at the end. You lose the two blockers at the start, but if you have BUILT INTO the right side guy, you have a left-headed staircase to get over to the original long one to the left. I think I'm the only one that ever figured it out.
You are going to laugh, I finished all the levels 20 years ago on a DOS PC, without reading the solutions from books (I did not know there were any about it). However, now I have Windows Lemmings, some level I cannot do, as I cannot click when the lemming reached the very edge in some games to turn him into a builder. Also, some levels, such as the Nessie one, they just crash!
I knew the steel digging glitch, but I'd never imagined to use it in this level. Thanks to this idea I managed to get 76 out of 80 lemmings, or 95% (watch my videos), but I don't get how to save 77/100.
Oh, sorry about that : the video shows a different number of Lemmings than my version, and having to lose 6 blockers. You only have to lose *FOUR* : two at the start and two at the end. TWO can build to the left from the bottom if you have spare BUILDS. So 96% of 100, or 95% of 80, are saved.
@pesti911 Actually this guy's WAY better at lemmings than me. I have to pause the game all the time and save and load savestates in my SNES emulator and decrease the emulation speed just to get through some of the levels, plus I can't figure out how to solve half of them, which is why I look at these videos so I can see how it's done. When I was a little kid and played it on DOS, I eventually got stuck at one of the first few Mayhem levels, couldn't figure out how to beat it, and just gave up.
