Just realized that at 1:41 Lemmy says “That’s the way I like it baby I don’t want to live forever… But apparently I am…” before the solo. What a legend lol.
Grohl always humble and real. Probably why he got along so well with Lemmy. See the interview when he talks about how nervous he was first time walking up to Lemmy in a club. Just love the guy !
This fired me up as an old lady who is not into metal. Brilliant performance! My brother is still partially deaf from attending a Motorhead concert back in the day. He doesn't regret a minute of it, and we are all happy shouting at him, so all good.
I though the decible levels at the Ac/ Dc concerts were at the max allowed by law in an enclosed stadium. UNTILL..... I SEEN MOTOR HEAD !! MY INTERNAL ORGANS WERE ACTUALY VIBRATING TO THE POINT THAT I HAD TO STEP OUT IN THE HALL WAY.! THATS THE TRUTH
I love the fact that Grohl is a punky drummer like Taylor and Slash is a bluesy guitarist like Clarke, they really fit with Lemmy playing Ace of Spades.
this song is already a tough one for the tedious vibe but to play it with that energy level and every crash being perfect blows for it thats not easy to be so consistent
Better drummer than guitarist or vocalist. But his charisma is over the top so its only natural he's the front man of his band successfully for so many years.
I love Lemmy's lyric change "Don't wanna live forever" but instead of the "Don't forget the joker" he sings "but apparently I am" Hope they got your pinball up there mate!!!
I've heard a LOT of versions of this song - I honestly think this is one of/the best version I've heard!? I think these dudes were all such fans of each other that it drew the best out of each of em. Lots of times when you get too many successful guys on one stage it fizzles more than rocks - any 'all star jam' at the rock n roll hall of fame for example. These guys KILLED it - !!!!!
Who else here thinks this is a perfect line up? Lemmy nailed it, Dave was on fire and Slash did Fast Eddie Clarke justice. Also added his signature blue notes in the solo to be original. Love it
One of the few people who could relegate Grohl back to the drums. Lemmy is maybe the most underrated frontman of all time. He’s so effortlessly cool. Motörhead influenced so many bands
How is Lemmy underrated? Everyone knows he’s God. You know the trend of complimenting musicians by saying they’re underrated has jumped the shark when people start saying it about friggin Lemmy…
My favorite thing about Lemmy is he lived life his way with no apologies. He did his thing, kicked ass on stage, and went out on his own terms. Respect.
+Куйбышев Андрей lemmy said in his movie that the reason he positions the mic like that so he doesn't look at the crowd while he plays. He said it's his personal space because believe it or not he gets nervous in front of crowds
@@despacito2271 No, I think you are not getting the point. Listening to a song and living in the era qhen the song released are completely different subjects.
@@turbocpt1 yeah it must’ve been an experience 😞 i agree on that but it doesn’t need to be exactly in the 90s and 80s, you could literally replicate it. But concert wise no sadly not anymore. since he passed away so i agree with you on the concert part, no hard feelings i was being dumb .
So, Rob Halford and Chris Jericho presented Lemmy, Slash and Dave Grohl who would have played Ace of Spades? This couldn't be more rock n' roll if they tried.
What a TOTALLY inspired performance. Slash and Grohl playing their asses off for one of their biggest inspirations...and we all get to enjoy it over and over again. RIP Lemmy.
Paul Aleman how is one of the most respected drummers in Rock and Roll history an underrated drummer in your opinion? You either are new to rock and roll or just don't pay much attention but Dave Grohl has always been very well respected and gets plenty of credit for his talent. You are way off base if you think he is underrated.
Yvonne Way Grohl is regarded as one of the drummers in the world for a reason man, what are you talking about catching flack? The only flack he’s caught is not playing enough drums lol
I saw 1980's performance of Ace of Spades, and then this one. Lemmy's voice on both is the same. As a heavy metaller, to keep your voice same over decades is astonishing. True legend! Rock the heavens Lemmy! RIP.
Imagine being that random 4th guy. "Hey, can you play a gig this weekend?" "Okay, with who?" "Oh, just Slash, Dave Grohl, and Lemmy Killmister" "Yeah, I can do that" "Also, you're getting introduced by Rob Halfrod and Chris Jericho." "I am?" "Well, everyone but you, but yes."
@@bowlofnuggets I had assumed that since this was some awards-show team-up and not only was Mikkey Dee replaced by Dave Grohl, Slash was playing lead guitar, so it was them and some random session player who also played with the other acts, and not Wizzo Campbell on backup guitar.
it is commonly considered grunge killed metal in the 90s. Replacing long complex tracks and virtuous guitar solos with simple riffs and chords. But with what we have today I'd say metal is just as strong as ever.
Amazing how Slash and Lemmy are rocking balls to the wall but still look half asleep. It's like the muscle memory is so developed that they could record a single while eating a sandwich
I would rather live like Lemmy and die at 70 than to play it safe and healthy and live to be 85 or 90 anyday. Its truly amazing he lived as long as he did, because he truly did not give a f**k, he did what he wanted to when and where ever he wanted to do it. You have to respect that.
He did two things right which may have helped him live as long as he did. He remembered to eat; had at least one girlfriend who was a chef, and he also cooked for himself. He walked, a lot.
I have watched and listened Motorhead live, in videos, in studio albums, in live albums, in bootlegs, from the mid 80s till the end, Lemmy's voice and energy never changed, that consistency is unparalleled! And that bass shouldn't be a normal one, it's a cannon!
Maybe because I never took slash as great l guitarist before, but I stand totally corrected, he played lead for lemmy and blew me out of the saddle, after listening to 56 years of f****** rock and roll , slash did it, guns and roses, Velvet Revolver and then this? What more do you want?
I think this was a tribute to Lemmy, so he was already the main star of this show. It was simply Slash's turn to take the stage with him for this particular song.
Maybe because it seems to be a US TV program that they're on? They have Chris Jericho, the US wrestler, in the background, and Motorhead weren't massive in the US?
