This era was a trilogy story. First came Beyoncé’s Lemonade, then came Jays perspective in his album 4:44 and it concluded with their joint album Everything Is Love. It goes from Bey finding out about the cheating, going through the emotions of that hurt, them separating and him having to work his ass off to get her back. Then you hear Jay speaking on realizing why he did the things he did, having to take accountability and do the work to keep his family and finally after a lot of work & therapy them reconnecting and renewing their vows to begin a new life together.
Jay-Z said on his album that Beyoncé tried to leave him, they never officially got divorced but he basically confirmed that they separated for some time and he followed her everywhere she went for months including when she went to Europe, it’s speculated that all this happened around the time of the elevator incident with Solange, and he had to put in WORK but they ended up eventually solving things
This album still makes me cry TO THIS DAY, My top three has to be Hold Up, Love Drought and All Night, but the whole album is just amazing. (Possible other projects by her you might like are B'day, 4 and the album with the surfbort song, BEYONCE.) also disclaimer idk where the full visual album is available since i downloaded it online 😭 Also as an answer to your question about Daddy Lessons, within the Beyhive (her fanbase) that song is very divisive but i personally LOVE it when she bends genres and especially with Daddy Lessons it's such a good song, the instrumental, the vocals, the music video, everythingggg.
To answer your question at the end: I am a massive Beyoncé fan and yes we love it when she does stuff like ‘Daddy Lessons’. Because Beyoncé is best when she is doing new things and combining new stuff. As fans we love that you never know what to expect. I mean this album alone already includes rock, pop, soul, r&b, hip-hop, a pianoballad, country, reggae etc. It’s insane!
This album is a complete masterpiece. My favourites are Don’t Hurt Yourself and Freedom. Maybe cause Beyoncé got featured two icons like Jack White and Kendrick Lamar. Formation is a classic. And Hold Up is a jam too! You should definitely react to her SECOND best album which is ‘Self-Titled’ if u haven’t listened to it yet.
Beyoncé has actually been credited with popularizing the rap-singing style you mentioned. She’s been doing it since she was in Destiny’s Child. This album came out months before Joanne btw

You'll get SO much more out of the story of the album if you watch the visual album!! I have a link to watch if you need it ☺️ The visuals show more context about the painful history of slavery and oppression have taught black people generations of pain, and how that's affected black love. It's breathtaking. The transition alone between pray you catch me and hold up makes me cry every time, it's so pretty! And there's poetry throughout the film that adds context.

It’s hard to say which type of music I liked best in this album because each songs was necessary in telling the overall story in Lemonade. No sing really stands which is why I really liked this. I always felt that Lemonade was kind of like Beyoncé’s love letter to music in general and her acknowledging that each genre were necessary elements in telling her own personal story is truly a testament to Beyoncé overall artistry and talent as a musician.
Freedom is meant to be a Power song, it’s referencing how she won’t be chained down and she will have her freedom. It’s got references to America’s past sprinkled in, it’s an amazing song.
I love country in general. But the daddy song was super country twang like creole sounding. I enjoyed it. The album as a whole was everything. You have to see Beyoncé perform live, once in your lifetime. Immaculate performer!

I know it's off topic but your cat looks so much like mine; Marcy, I lost her a few years ago and I miss her every day! On topic, Daddy Lessons is so country and real, as a Texan, I cannot believe people tried to claim it wasn't real country. I mean I can believe it, a lot of country listeners are racist, but still, it is such a good song I thought people would be able to love it anyway. Like, put aside the amazing production, its a song about a daddy teaching his girl to use her Second Amendment. Country folk should love that. If you want, check out her performance of the song with the dixie chicks, another country artist written off by the community for speaking out (specifically against George Bush and the Iraq war). it's great.
