Lenape Park, which has been an entertainment and picnic park for over one hundred years, is now closed to the public. This documentary takes you on a sentimental journey of what this park meant to the residents of Mays Landing, NJ and their families.
This segment is the second half of the documentary 'A Short Step Into The Past' produced by the award winning filmmaker Margaret Pierson. Ms. Pierson wrote produced and directed the film which also includes a segment on the history of the Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City. It is the third tallest lighthouse in the United States.

Back in the 60's and 70's …. didn't it have a fun house and merry-go-round and a pool?

+JeevesReturns Your thinking of the Lenape Park in Pocopson Twp off of RT 52, I lived 100 yards from it and it was owned by a man named Gibney.

The Lenape Park in PA, on Route 100, had amusements and rides, as you remember. There is information on the old park if you Google the name. The park property is still a park, as a picnic area, named Brandywine Picnic Park, there are limited amusements, but they have swimming, boating, and other activities. The original Lenape Park, closed in 1980, I believe.
