Right it's the best method ever. And you know it's good too to put in your hair cucumber water from Garnier. It's a leave-in conditioner treatment. That's what I use and just continue doing the same routine. My hair grew it's at 10 in right now I want to get to 12 and I'm good👍🏽
YES!!!!! I wore block braids for 6 months straight in 2023. Took down 1 random braid once a month to monitor hair/scalp health. I washed every week. Deep conditioned. I will say take down process took a month. I went slow and took my time...6 months of matted hair. I gained 5.5 inches!! Doing it again in June.
@@nondumisogasser7155 yep. I put my hair in medium-small twists. I coat the ends with my favorite edge control. That keeps my ends in tact. I wash them, concentrating on my scalp, and condition them, concentrating on my hair. I make a braid spray of aloe vera juice, Infusium 23, and vegetable glycerin to keep them moisturized. I redo a section of them every couple of weeks. And I take them down one twist at a time, clean up the parts, and retwist them. I think maintaining the original parts is important because it dramatically reduces breakage. Hope this helps.
Did this with individual two strand twists after having done the plaits and it achieved the same results, less time during the take down. Both methods work great though. 🎉❤❤❤
Yes!!! I’m with you girl! 👏👏 Plaits are doing wonders for my hair and I don’t care what anybody thinks about them. I’m like holla back when my hair is down my back! 😅 You’re doing great Sis! 🌸💕
I started mine a year ago & I definitely seen growth too. But I need to create the shirt too 😭 & the ones saying "why do you wash your braids" the REAL question is WHY DON'T YOU?! Looking good queen 😩🥰
THANKS GUH!!!!!!! .... also, when I was first asked why I wash my braids, I was confusedddddddddddd but I realize that many of use were taught not to do it. Or never thought to do it cause "dirty hair grows" lol the things we've been feed growing up is crazy, but I'm glad we're learning
I’ve had large plats in my hair for 8 years now and it’s at waist length! They truly work and I’ve always washed my braids! It just takes longer bcse you have to ensure you get the shampoo through the braids to remove dirt and oil..
@@SharatiaBanks thank you! And i meant to compliment you on your dedication also! My plats are big though (bcse I’m lazy 😂😂😂) it went from 12 to now 8. You got this, just keep up with your dedication and regimen! ❤️❤️
Just finished redoing mine last night and they’re bout the same size as yours! I’m excited. I wanted better parts so I took the whole thing down and blew it out to have neater parts since you can see my scalp easier and omg… I got so much new grown in just those three weeks of having my previous set in! I’m like a half inch away from waist length in the back and past my armpit in the front!!! I’ve have been at a plateau for a year now. IM SOO HAPPYYYY❤❤❤❤
Thank you love!!! It’s exciting! Thank you for sharing your routine to help me. Honestly would’ve never tried mini braids before wayching your videos 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾💕
I remember 20 something years ago keeping my double strand twisted locks small and pulled back under my military fatigue hat best growth ever this is why I just started box braids again
Yes happy dance!!! How affirming!! Currently doing this with twists! I even twist the ends up the twist to keep them off my shoulders because my hair is so long 😅 Its been great for moisture and length retention ✨
Your hair won’t loc even if you left them in for the year. It takes braids a VERY long time to loc, the longest time actually so if anyone reading this was thinking about starting the journey but was on the fence, starting with braids might be best for you cos if you change your mind you can take them out more easily.
Oh wow! I was telling my hubby yesterday that when I’m ready to loc I was gonna start them off as plaits 🤣 that’s amazing.. although I wonder about the roots then . Surely that’ll loc
I love love your routine🥰. I too see super growth when my hair is in single braids. Going to start deep conditioning my hair every week too to help thicken my hair, due to neglect during postpartum with twins, sucked the thickness out of my strands 😩but getting there. Thanks for your video’s , they are so helpful 🤗
I do my daughter hair like this and her hair is almost to tail length.. I do crochet braids to switch up her style plus she’s tender headed to those styles give her the best growth and length retention ♥️ you have beautiful hair ❤
Beautiful! I love it for you 😍. I have triiiied but my hair is like 🚫 when I try and wash my hair in braids. "Matte City Chick" 😂 it'll get soo matted even upon thorough detangling and a recent rebraid. However I gotta figure something out bc your results, and many others following this protocol are too good, lovely 😍
@@SharatiaBanks heyy yes loose twists are less prone to matting for me when I wash in them. I can be on the safe side when I cleanse w/ something like a cleansing cowash.
Omg same. My hair doesn’t not like being washed in braids like this. I’ve come to that realization when it took me hours to remove the plaits and how tangled my hair got (which always has happened). 😅 Gotta find another style
I've been wanting to do this! Just have to wait until my hair is actually long enough to braid (it's a twa) but it seems like the ideal hairstyle for health, growth and efficient care! I'mma take this as a sign from the universe
Beautiful, healthy hair & answered all of my questions. I have my hair in boho braids now. I grew my hair good without braids, but with braids, it helps massively w retention and growth✨
The problem I have with washing braids is that they loc up on me, so I have to just do 2 strand twists and wash 1x a month. It’s been working for me, but I wish I could wash my hair more (lack of time, and a need to reduce manipulation)
I have been doing braids and redoing them every two weeks before now. I just started shampooing, conditioning and moisturizing weekly💃( your tips helped). I want to retain all my new growth just like you😅. My back hair is currently at my mid back length. My front hair is the shortest😂.Hopefully I get to waist length by December😌.
I go back and forth with two steand twists and crochet braids. While i dont wash them as often. I donuse a refresher spray. I'm going to incorporate a cleansing oil next but my hair has grown as well.
Thank you for this video, right now I have an Afro that is slightly bigger than a TWA, should I start this process now or let it grow out by itself more first?
It would def be easier now since they would be shorter which means It’s faster to install and takedown. You can always try it and see if you need to wait a little bit longer
Off topic but now that your hair is getting longer do you feel like you’re getting length dysmorphia? My current length I know neck length me would have dreamed to have but it never feels long enough! 😫
That’s an interesting thought. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s dysmorphia. While I’m enjoying my current length (even though she’s in plaits all the time lol) I do have a goal. Once I reach that goal I’ll either cut it or stay there. Any longer in my opinion is nasty 🤣🤣 respectfully lol it’s just too much hair (for me)
BEAUTIFUL ❤️ 😍 BEAUTIFUL ❤️ 😍 BEAUTIFUL ❤️ 😍 🤩 I love it I agree you were it well and take care of it PERIOD . #LONG HAIR #HEALTHLY HAIR ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ ALL DAY EVER DAY
Same, mine frizzez by day 4 and moisturizing which I love makes it worse. It will shrink and frizz. If I wash in the braids I will have to end up taking it out it will just look horrendous
I do bigger braids and only keep them in 1 week at a time. Take out to wash and rebraid. If I wash my hair in the braids it looks terrible. If I wash my hair in twists it gets matted.
I can do you one better.. I'll show you! I have two week in my hair videos. it shows you a typical week in my hair and it's informative throughout the whole video
I mean you should wash your braids. Others may not be able to. I have to remove mine bc if I wash my hair in braids or twist even just focusing on the scalp and being careful not to scrub too much I get horrible tangles. Remember yall what works for one may not work for all. But def try it out and see if it works for your hair
Love your content! I have a question though. I’m interested in doing the long term plaits as a protective style, but I saw you blew your hair out before doing so. How do you maintain that with washes without it curling back up? Are you redoing the blowout?
Thanks so much and thanks for your question! When I redo each plait every 4-5 weeks, I don’t blow it out (on cool air btw) The blow out was to stretch it to make it easier for parting when I installed them. As for maintenance between my weekly washes, I just tie them down with a scarf. I show it in my recent week im my hair video.
Looks like you have Type 3 hair. I wonder how this would look and work with Type 4C. Many years ago, I grew my hair, long using box braids. However, I was using extension hair. it got to be very expensive and time-consuming to have them removed, hair, tangled, reinstalled. I don’t know that most women could use this method, because of the uneven hair length. It does look great on you.
thanksssssss!! but naw, I have all ranges of type 4 texture 🤗 and I agree with you, extensions can get pricey and they can cause more issues than good sometimes
Sure! I’ve seen many do twists instead of plaits. I, personally can’t do twists cause I’ll have to redo them after 2 weeks whereas with these I can get away with waiting 4 weeks
