Many people experience racism everyday in the work place and in their daily lives. Few talk about it because there is a huge social cost for those who experience racism and talk about it. That is what makes the activism of the antiracism writer, Rebecca Stevens Alder remarkable. She grew up in Switzerland where she moved with her mother who had received a job offer from the International Labour Organisation. She writes about her experience of racism to raise awareness of how racism transform simple everyday acts of living can become fraught with the anxiety that racism creates within its victims. Racism does tremendous harm to those who experience it. The biggest cost is its impact to health and to mental health of victims of racism.
