THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I was all set to buy a house with Lennar and stumbled upon your video and fell down a rabbit hole of more and more evidence of reasons NOT to purchase a Lennar home. You saved a single mother from devastation.

There needs to be a class action lawsuit against them. Ridiculous that you can make such a poor quality home. You would think consumer protection laws would be strongest for homes.
@KristopherFannin
@KristopherFannin 6 лет назад
You are absolutely right. I went into this assuming the protections for a new home would be the strongest and found out the hard way that they are almost non-existent. Builders work very hard - and pay a lot of money - to keep it that way. I hope this helps others understand what I wish I had before getting into this. Thank you for the comment as well!

MisterBinx I’m currently in a class action lawsuit against Lennar homes. We had an inspector come over yesterday to take pictures. I sure hope the payout will be well worth the loss we’ve taken trying to fix everything in our home. I would sell the house but I wouldn’t even put my worst enemy through the bullshit this house put us through.

I'm so glad I saw this video. Thank you so much for the input kris, you're beyond right. I just wish there was a way to find justice for this. I'm at my end with the stress, and no one understands. But I'm still gonna fight, this video is the best thing I could watch because no one understands why I'm so upset. It's the most infuriating thing I've ever dealt with, I wanna scream into a pillow til I can't feel anymore.

Sorry to hear that. Within a year I had to deal with the ceiling in my bathroom leaking, microwave needs to be replaced, dishwasher leaking where I had to replace some of my kitchens cabinets.

Needless to say, you have opened my eyes regarding Lennar home builders and other builders for that matter. Having said that, I was considering purchasing a 4 bedroom home with Lennar. Unquestionably, I just happened to come across to your informative blog and decided against the purchase. At this level, we as consumers need to join together and bring this to the light to the proper authorities, in order to receive a resolution to this dilemma and have a voice of concern as future home buyers.

Romano - you made a wise decision. Unfortunately, I've found (as many others have as well) that the people who should prevent this and take action when it happens to protect us - are the same people who make money from Lennar. It has been an eye-opening experience. I never thought things like this actually happened and I learned that they do the hard way. This is how Lennar is able to continue these practices - the people who should protect us actually make money from Lennar. It's unfortunate and needs to change.

I want to figure out what to do, I'm in their las vegas division but I think this is a problem in all of their work. I've tried everything, when something goes wrong they treat you like you're at walmart returning a clearance item for having a scratch on it. No, IT OUR HOMES. and I've put too much into my house I unfortunately fell for buying and I'm losing my mind dealing with this manipulative, irresponsible, non holding themselves accountable for anything company. I dont want anyone to deal with what I have.

@@KristopherFannin THANK YOU, I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR SOMEONE ELSE SAY WHAT NEEDS TO BE SAID. Kris, I just ran across this info as I was considering a new home in Riverview. Thank you for bringing this out into the open and to people’s attention. I’m sure you’ve saved many many people from health and financial ruin. That being said, I hope that now you are approximately one year (?) out of your home, that things are much better for you and that your health has been restored! I am sorry for all that you went through. I too bought a house in 2013 (not a new construction) that I found out was uninhabitable the day after moving in. I ended up losing tens of thousands of dollars and almost everything I owned. Thank you for saving me from another life altering mistake.

Scared, I’m considering a Lennar home. I built a Taylor Morrison Atlanta home in 2017. There were glitches before and after closing, but for the most part, I think they did good with responding to issues. The house will never be perfect at closing. Settling will result in minor drywall cracks or nail pops that they took care off at the 11 month mark. My only regret is that the AC was sluggish just before the warranty expired and I should have had the builder resolve it instead of myself. The AC guy said it looks like the suction line got kinked because they twisted behind plumbing. Do your due diligence, take pictures, record, document, file things ASAP. Air out the new home often, get an purifier that gets rid of formaldehyde like some of the higher end Dyson ones.

Same issues with Lennar. They are EXPERTS at dodging the issues and are able to postpone or avoid repairs by claiming we this it's to code. Prove that the construction isn't to code. None of the crafts work is up to par in my mind. Very sloppy and hastily constructed home.

I did not buy a Lennar home but instead bought from KB Home. I’m in full compassion for you because I too am experiencing significant construction defects. The state I live in makes it nearly impossible to hold the builders accountable. There are hardly any protections for new construction home owners, so disappointing.

I first saw this video shortly after I purchased my Lennar home in S.C. in august of 2018 . Needless to say i was very concerned i spoke with my realtor who assured me that these homes were in line with several other area builders and that she had never had any of the experiences your referring to, needless to say I had already made a large down payment and was commented. Keeping your statements in mind i hired a home inspector to thoroughly check the house over, knowing that they don't get to deep into the actual construction , but he did note some issues that I may have not seen (i'm not a builder but have done a lot of remodeling and home improvement work on top of having been in the tool & die making industry for over 35yrs. so i do have a good eye for detail). I have now been in my home for just over 1yr and have worked thru my extensive list of issues mostly small easy to repair items but have had a couple of large ones, bottom line I have to say we are happy with our home we have a very good energy rating low utilities, it is sad that Lennar builds these homes so fast and has the belief that if it is cheaper for them to come back and preform repairs that the homeowners rise rather then slowing down and getting it right the first time. My hit list was not as long as yous but most of it could have been avoided if only a little better oversight had taken place during the construction and better planning, you don't paint bright white trim around the bottom of the home before you plant grass or sod to prevent dirt stains from discoloring the paint or have the painters crawling around on a new roof in work boots when it is 90 degrees outside or you will have to replace sections of that roof. These are some of the things i'm referring to. A lot of my issue was that I had a shitty warranty representative for a couple of months but fortunately he quite and the new guy was pretty on the spot, I was able to get all my issues addressed but it does take time , my wife and I are retired so we could be available at any time to allow for workers to preform repairs , this was the hardest thing to contend with seeing that they would never show up as planned but generally it was on the day planned . At this point I think i can contend with any new issues provided that there are the standard day to day repairs, as for new homes being like new cars you have to understand that cars go thru months and sometime years of prototyping , and running changes during production as well as extensive recalls and there are 10's of thousands of each model manufactured and no they do not always get it right , i'm not making excuses for Lennar or any one else just trying to be fair. I did not pay for a custom builder but at this point think I got a pretty fair if not good deal, hope that I still think so as time passes. Good luck

I live in new construction in the Tampa (Pasco County) area. My neighbors, to include myself, are having nothing but issues. We are all still under the first year warranty and I'm scared to death what will happen after the warranty ends. So far, I have had a water leak from an improperly installed Dish Washer. Two electrical issues. Believe me, I could go on and on. These homes look pretty, but buyer beware. I feel so sorry for this man. I hope we wins in the end. The politicians are owned by the companies.

Without a doubt they are - there are two issues at the Westshore Yacht Club - the land it was built on (a former nuclear steam generation testing site that was never remediated) and the horrible construction (exasperated by the former) - the Mayor licensing and inspection office had no answers as to how this 1) passed inspection and 2) why the land was allowed to be built on without remediation.

I've cried, I've called everyone I could. I've invested too much time into this, I refuse to give up. They are the worst people and make me absolutely hate my house because I associate it with them. This is the most unfair, and one of the worst things I've ever gone through. I feel helpless and robbed. I'm treated like the enemy when we bought the house. Anyone who tries to help me and gives me some hope ends up texting me apologizing that they're sorry because they can't speak to me anymore because JOY BRODDLE LAS VEGAS DIVISION PRESIDENT will not let them talk to me anymore. nor will the construction manager and the house is still under warrantee..if anyone can offer me some advice please contact me. I'd love to share pictures of everything, I'll probably end up just contacting the news. But, point is...DO NOT BUY.

Empathize with the frustration & so many critical issues experienced, but is this 100% completely transparent & honest? From some research and understanding, was Lennar even the developer of the sketchy house being discussed? Or, was it a DIFFERENT builder that was purchased by Lennar several YEARS (!!) later After the Fact? IF the latter is the case, this review & video has very little to do with Lennar, and NOT a review of Lennar Homes, development process, & Quality Control -- it's a review of the ORIGINAL builder. Also, if that's the case, having this review/video posted as current could result in defamation.

Sounds like your lawyer took you for a ride. I'm sorry that happened to you. The rule of thumb is that if you are suing someone then never pay an attorney out of your pocket. They should be willing to work o commission of the lawsuit winnings. If you pay them from your pocket, they will even take a case that they know that cannot win. If they work on commission, they will only take your case if it is a strong case.

Was your home built by Lennar or by a company that Lennar acquired? From a quick search it looks like WCI actually built you home and did the shoddy work, not Lennar. WCI was acquired by Lennar in 2017 so it is a bit misleading on your part to suggest that Lennar was the builder. Granted, they inherited the problem when they bought WCI and their customer service is of serious concern. I think they should have treated you better and been much more responsive to your situation. However, I think you should be a little more clear instead of implying Lennar was the problem from day one. To some degree though, if they didn't buy WCI until 2017 which was 4 years after your home was built and after your warranty expired, it is somewhat a rock vs. hard place here. I am guessing you have documentation to show the history of problems from day 1 which if the same problems continued from the first day it would seem some type of lemon law would apply. However, if the AC problems didn't show up until year 3 and your warranty was expired on day 1 of year 2, then unfortunately, that problem becomes yours, even if it was shoddy work that caused the problem 3 years later. Not sure what legal obligation Lennar would have to a product built by another builder 4 years earlier. They might have an ethical obligation but probably not a legal one. Did you try contacting the local press to see if they might be able to get Lennar to assist?
@KristopherFannin
@KristopherFannin 5 лет назад
Lennar executives came to the home, found all the issues and then went silent. They even took the neighborhood off their website even though tens of millions of development is still available there. Why? Because they knew the land it was build on is toxic. Lennar executives are nothing more than a bunch of crooks.

You know what it will take to get Lennar, Pulte, KB, Toll Brothers and all the other sleazy home builders to clean up their act, if people just walk away from their homes and surrender them to the bank. Only then will the banks look at the crap fest on their books and the banks will decide not to allow mortgages on these substandard homes. It sucks that it will destroy the lives of so many home buyers. But it’s the only thing that could work.

The orientation tells you in the beginning not to turn off your AC for a certain amount of time due to it being a new home, or it could cause mold if not allowed to dry out properly. I read all this in the manual I was given. I also seen the housing dump before I bought the home, it wasn’t hidden 🤷🏻‍♀️ I haven’t moved into my home yet, but you can guarantee I won’t be one to sit still and allow it.
