Even as I'm uploading this video, I'm still trying to understand exactly what happened to even bring me out there. I'll be scratching my head about it for about an hour but I got the tenant back cooling and I'm happy. Let me know what you guys would've done differently!!!

If you'll get yourself some Jumper's you can start jumping out one thing at time and see what works and what doesn't. Also after you seen you had high voltage you should check that you have control voltage or 24 volts or transformer pwr. All the same thing. If you have control voltage coming out of the transformer then start checking the board after delay to see if you have outgoing power from the board. If you do then you have a component failure. Another thing when you're looking at breaker's look closer to see if they've been tripped or if someone actually turned it off. A tripped breaker is a big giveaway for dead compressor maybe even locked up blower.

Glad to see you check the wire size and note it. The wiring diagram will tell you all. Rewire inside the cabinet if you must. Done it quite a bit after a visit from “handymen”. That 50A disconnect needs to be changed. If you have sand cloth, sand the dirty or corroded plug ends on the fuse holder. Help with electric flow. Nice vid.

The fuse ends weren't copper/brass, they were like a silver aluminum kind of look. Does that matter?
@MetalDetectingwithCZkidd
@MetalDetectingwithCZkidd 2 месяца назад
@@AB_HVAC if they are corroded or oxidized, sure. Corrosion can inhibit a proper seat of the knife edges into the fuse block. You could potentially have one side given out 120v and the other 0 volt. Have experienced this a few times. Corrosion or oxidation can also inhibit electrical flow and drive up current flow at the connection point of the fuse block and fuse holder knife edges, which can heat up or start blowing fuses. Shot of wd40 where the knife edges slide into the fuse block as well.

I watched twice and you lost me on the wiring. I don't understand why both disconnect can't be on. I think the maintenance guy the customer was talking about screwed something up but cheers to you for getting it running at all. You'll probably be back in the fall to fix the heat.

I think he messed with something too because it's too weird how as soon as he came by to mess with it the whole condenser never came back on.

That empty mulex plug looks looks like the one that went to a 12j99 control boad for lennox gas package unit?? I swapped one the other day that had bad blower relay on the board...good job staying with it! Rats nest wiring and hacks= hella trouble shooting nightmares!!

Nice job for working on something you hadn't seen before. Did you actually end up cleaning the coil(s) ? I know you talked about it.
@AB_HVAC
@AB_HVAC 2 месяца назад
Just the condenser. That's why there was a big puddle around the condenser at the end of the video
@Bill_CBR
@Bill_CBR 2 месяца назад
@@AB_HVAC Yea, I figured that was the cause of the puddles. Given it's a package unit, that puts the evaporator coils outside as well. How did they look? Maybe on a second trip? Oh yea, on the housing effort, are you a proud homeowner now?

The 60 amp was just for the heat pack and the 30 amp is for compressor. Seems to me someone messed with the wiring at the contactor and had both services supplying contactor therefore they canceled each other out. I think thats why they had one turned off.
@AB_HVAC
@AB_HVAC 2 месяца назад
Yeah it seemed that way but the wire for the heat strips on the 50A was still too small to handle 50A of current

Gosh, that unit wasn't sitting on a pad and looked to be sitting in a puddle of water. Could that have any effect on the electrical system? I'm no expert but was just curious.
@AB_HVAC
@AB_HVAC 2 месяца назад
The puddle towards the end of the video was from me cleaning the condenser coil. But there was rotting wood and everything under/in front of the unit. Someone broke off the P Trap so all the water from the evap coil is probably rotting the bottom of the unit
