Lewis was an absolute master boxer. I have to admit I’d forgotten just how good he was. The accuracy and snap on those punches was very impressive. Great fighter!
Shannon was just too stationary, once Lennox started landing clean it was only a matter of time. You can be the toughest guy in the world but you can't eat the kind of punches he was eating from Lewis
@@wanderingwhy если ты делитант то не пиши фигни. на всех судейских карточках вел Кличко. бой остановили изза сечки. и отказавшись от реванша Льюис ушел на пенсию.
I dont think people talk about how skilled and muscular the late 80s and early 90s were. Yes todays guys are taller but dudes back than had more skill and were way more muscular and man tough.
Lewis is easily in the top 10, if not top 5, greatest heavyweight boxers of all time! Not just because of what he achieved in his boxing career, but because of his sportsmanship. He knew Briggs nearly knocked him out in the first round. He still gave him a congratulatory back slap when he survived!
@SugarySkully hard to narrow it down to 5, but... 1. Muhammed Ali. 2. George Foreman. 3. Sonny Liston. 4. Rocky Marciano. 5. Mike Tyson/Joe Frasier. Then an argument could be made for Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Buster Douglas, etc.
@@ChromeSkull. oof! That would be a tough fight! Both in their prime? I'd probably say Foreman. It'd be close, though! I'd like to change my top 5, though!
Good fight! Not a thing of beauty but Briggs was game. I like the way Lewis got clocked in the 4th, smiled and dropped his gloves, then put Briggs on his ass. Lewis the better fighter in the ring but I’m not sure I’d want to run into Briggs in a dark alley!
@@salumabdallah4040 In his "best I faced" interview with Ring Magazine, Lennox Lewis said that Shannon Briggs had both the fastest hands and the best power of any opponent he ever faced. It was his stamina, technique, and footwork that allowed Lewis to get the best of him.
Briggs shakes his head as Lewis lands some shots as if to say "i'm not hurt". Later on as time was going Lewis started landing sone serous shots shaking Briggs head with his fist😄
Lennox Lewis stated in The Ring magazine's "The best I faced" that Shannon Briggs was the hardest puncher he faced in his ring career. He said that Briggs really knew how to get his body weight behind a punch; Lennox was no mean puncher himself, of course, and his skill set level was way above that of Briggs - so barring a stoppage Briggs was always going to lose this fight. He fought well for the first 2 rounds, but, cream always rises to the top and class will out. Lennox Lewis is a Hall of Famer and Shannon Briggs isn't , it's as simple as that. Good fight and thanks for uploading.
I can't be the only once to notice that those right hands that sent Lewis stumbling in the first were all clearly to the back of that head? First one I thought might have been an accident but he threw like 2-3 more to the same place, if anything more to the back of the head than the first. I don't think Lennox was even that hurt, he just got clipped while off balance, then covered up while Briggs wailed away thinking he had him hurt.
Shannon briggs had terrible defense. Pretty explosive on offense when he saw a opening but his style was all bad for Lennox Lewis. At least Briggs can proudly say he lost to one of the best heavy weights in boxing
Fury is currently the best heavy. But lucky to fight in this era and poor del boy 3 times. He's a warrior, but nothing like he used to be. Also I'm really worried for his health.
Yeah, that’s right. He could be lazy, e.g., before Lewis-McCall I, but was probably the best heavyweight there’s ever been at his absolute peak in that you could put him in the squared circle with any other boxer in the division’s history and he’d win more often than he loses.
@@mgriz-it4ch I wouldn’t say he had no defence. He could be lazy with it and get caught out: that’s his biggest weakness. But once Emmanuel Steward took over his training, that weakness was eliminated and he became about as complete a heavyweight as there ever has been.

In the 90s there was no such thing as " feeling out process" these guys ran towards eachother and threw the kitchen sink immediately. Boxing today sucks every heavyweight seems to have a shitty gas tank and the chin of a baby
Mike Tyson was so great that even watching this fight, the comments are dedicated to him. That shows that he was the greatest in history, without a doubt.
There is no doubt that lennox was one of the legendry heavyweight boxer he was great just like Ali,Foreman,Tayson,Klitschko brothers and so many others
Lucky for Lewis that Shannon gasses after 1 and a half round. that one and a half round was Shannons only chance of standing any sorts of hope of winning.
Lol 3 round and they both tired, this is just battle of stamina who can last longer. Ali, and Fraizer can go up to 10 round without suffering from exhaustion.
Any guy that’s around that 225lb-230lb weight range can literally make any guy look like somebody’s b**ch. Guys that are in that weight range are still big but they are not too big which gives them more athleticism compared to bigger guys and they are still big enough to be extremely strong and powerful. The guys that I’ve always seen that just downright destroy dudes are usually around 220-230lbs. I’ve seen guys 230lbs that have almost put guys 280lb-300lbs+ in the hospital several times. That athleticism mixed in with that power is no joke. I’ve been in sports fighting for almost 30 years now including boxing, MMA, and wrestling and I’ve done it all and seen it all. Trust me. 👍👍
In my opinion Lennox is the more skilled fighter , but the referee should not have called the fight over because Briggs slipped . I think he thought Briggs got punched when he slipped and fell down .
That was a really hard fight for Lewis he was the Top dog at all his Events lost Twice but came back to face them again and Beat them What a Champ he was. Also the most Intelligent predator
Briggs got the win but later stopped punching which was what killed his game he would have knocked Lewis down if he didn't back down his hand and punches
their a little bit better than McCall or Rahman?? u cant be serious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Prime Foreman can eat for a dinner mcCall,Rahmani, briggs,Moorer,Douglas and little mickey as desert, he was a pure ALPHA , he never shared the ring with others , u can just run and defense and pray for a lucky counter that will never happen, he will crash all their bones one after one and damage their brain if they did the clown like he did Briggs here. they have no chance even to dominate retired Foreman at his 50y.o , prime Briggs tried to be famous and KO retired George but he realized that Foreman was a Son of Gods , even at his 48y.o still so strong for the HW category and so dangerous for any figther. Finally Lewis is a great fighter the best of his generation in one of the best ERA ever ,no doubt he will beat the power of Liston and the brawler lionheart Marciano but never Ali or Foreman.
Lennox had only two defeats in his entire career.. He lost to Rahman and McCall since he underestimated them.. However, he avenged them for his loss.. True Legend ❤💪🔥
he never avenged the mcCall loss and you know it. That second fight wasnt even a fight, cmon. If they fought a second bout and mcCall wasnt all screwed up from drugs i think mcCall wins again
This was definitely one of the most bonkerish fights ever!!! Embarrassing.... Already wore out after the second round. Who the heck is this ref??? They hired him off the couch?????😮😮😂😂
I could feel the ⛈️ from other Boxers. He had no " Showtime." Lennox beat my guy Mike. & now you 🤔 you bad enough to get smashed in the mouth or an upper ✂️ From Tyson. You want to " beat the Man who beat the man." Sorry you got schooled
