I absolutely love this series. It reminds us that there was a civilized age in the US, before the crass, rude society that we know today became normalized. Thank you for this.

I loved the differences in personal style; Osborne in his sport coat and bowtie, Leno in his tee shirt. Both having an appreciation for similar things; elegant automobiles and architecture. Great intro with Jay grabbing a slice while Donald opts for a five star dining experience. Shows the shared comedic flair of both.

Ronald my father could not afford to own a car, yet during the second world war he drove army trucks and motorcycles the length of Africa from Cape Town to Alexandria in Egypt, through mud, deserts and bush for five years. He ended up driving a Thames for a dry cleaning company. He died at 48 years old, happy with his achievements and family. I was 22 years old when I could afford my first car a 1951 Ford Anglia.Thank you dad.

LOL when Jay said the old Caddies made great planters. I was a 1/7 owner of a 1937 Packard (the long gangster model) that had served as a chicken coop in the more recent time before we acquired it. After a month or so of hard labors getting it clean, our Syndicate with a short attention span (HS sophomores) ran out of energy and the Packard went back to the woods never to be seen again Dark blue, suicide doors, jump seats, aluminum block, porcelain manifold. Too bad we did not have the where-with-all (tenacity and money) to finish the job. It would have been fun to have.

What is amazing to me is that 1) Mr. Leno can speak with insight about a car while performing the required dexterity of driving that car, and 2) Mr. Osborne can elegantly and continuously speak while Mr. Leno is sometimes not so dexterous -- Like skidding to a stop.

I love to see these two in action. "Miramar" built for the Widener family in 1915 is amazing. Horace Trumbauer created a 42,000 sq ft version of this house for Anna Dodge in Grosse Point Farms, MI named "Rose Terrace" built in 1931 that was sadly demolished when the family could no longer afford to maintain the estate after her death in the early 1970's. Miramar is about 30,000sq ft, sold to its second owner in about 1971 for $110,000. The third and possibly current owner payed over $20M unrestored if my memory serves... Keep up the fantastic work gentlemen, I can't make up my mind if I like the mansions or cars better...LOVE this series...

The Packard and Rolls are magnificent automobiles, but that Cadillac is still the king of cool. The guys really nailed it: they're driveable cars today, with all the old world charm and style. Also, I'd suggest advertising or at least mentioning this series over on Jay Leno's Garage channel- I'm sure a lot of the viewership over there would probably enjoy these videos as well! Newport! A wonderful place. I have been going there since the original Jazz festivals, then later to the sailboat shows and more recently to a cousin's multiple Naval "Change of Command " ceremonies. I've stayed at some of the nicest places including one night on the rocks by the ocean. I was returning home from Boston on my Raleigh Super Course TT bicycle with orange American Youth Hostel Pannier bags. I had just finished leading a group of teenagers 30 days on the road from Springfield Ma. Through Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. To date myself we were on Martha's Vineyard while Universal Studios was filming the original Jaws. On our last visit we became enchanted with the compact Audrain display next to the Tennis Courts. We would love to go back but these are tough times for travel.

There were so many things that had to go wrong for the Titanic to sink. The California shut down their radio at 9:00. Meanwhile they were closest ship. The man who had the keys to the locker that held the binoculars left. Recently I heard that the captain kept going forward, after they hit the iceberg. Supposedly it was because they saw a ship in the distance but knows how much longer the Titanic would have stayed afloat.

Thankyou both. A very sad story behind the building of "Miramar " . Jay , what makes you think the Packhard looks modern against the Rolls Royce baffles me. Was the engine an inline 6 or V 12 in the RR ? The interior shots of the house could easily have been of the "Titanic" . I would love to seen the inside of "Miramar "as it is today . I suppose the closest we had in England in 1964 was the Jaguar MK X. Oh , and the " e"type , oh, and the Beatles ! Thanks Guys .

I've owned Cadillac's my whole life. My favorite, and first, was a 1969 Sloop De Barge. A gift from my grandmother after my grandfather passed away in 1982. It had a 505ci V8 with a Carter 2bbl carb. "Maybe" 200hp. It got 12mpg on regular and 15mpg on Ethyl. Though Ethyl never approved..... I have a 2019 CTS-V now. The difference in 50 years of automotive technology is hilarious! Half the weight, FOUR times the horsepower and almost Twice the fuel economy! Waiting for a 2023 Tesla Model S Plaid+ as my next and possibly last car.

I think you're right about Rolls Royce , the cars are beautifully made but the engineering is seldom adventurous . British cars of the era could be like that and American cars could be more inovative. But the 60s Cadillac it's . . . Solidly built like a truck with lots of gizmos but not so classy . Like a night club doorman in a well cut suit .

The packard was great. And I know leno seems to believe the packard is superior to the rolls 40/50. But they built 35000 packard 12s. And only a few hundred survive. Rolls built just under 8 thousand 40/50s and 1600 Survive!
