Useful, thanks. The other articles covering this were very vague, something like -- if you are a Virgo who loves walks along the beach get the L series; if you love heavy metal get the E series. No explanations.
@@MW3oderBF3 You can run any AMD model in the E T or L series with the TB dock. In fact you can run higher resolution monitors with the AMD because it uses less data to transfer the picture. I'm currently running an AMD L series with 2 4k 32 inch monitors
From my experience the e series docking connector is kinda iffy. Thats a lot of use on the one type c connector over the unit's life. If you can afford it, buy a T series or a X1 series. Those are going to hold up the best.
i did not know the L series did not have the spill channels in it. oh well, i really needed a 15" screen and the L series was the only one that had the good CPU i wanted. i wish your video was louder as it was hard to see. this was a really good comparison between the thinkpad models. thanks for making it. Edit: had the laptop for a few months. This L series has very quiet speakers. It's hard to play a video and hear it over my desk fan. I have to plug in headset and listen to things. Disappointed. Otherwise good and cheap.
I think the X and the P series also needs to be mentioned. I suppose the X series are the compact version of the T series with smaller screens (13”) and like the T series they’re also ‘built like a tank’ while maintaining compatibility with docking stations. The P series must be the large screen ones (idk for sure).. oh and there’s the W series, I think W is for “Workstation” and they have dedicated graphics card, large screens and full keyboard set with numerical keypad, the ones to run CAD and Engineering software, also having support for docking stations and able to run on multiple monitors as well.
P series is supposed to be for Performance, intended to fill the gap between T and W series. It has a better thermal management system and is a popular choice among software developers or engineers viewing native CAD drawings. For content generation be it video or creating CAD drawings W series is suited to do the heavy lifting. E series is plenty good for bean counters and bean soup.
Your opinion about what to choose between: - ThinkPad L14 Gen3 FullHD i7-1255U-12thGen 16GB SSD512 - ThinkPad E14 Gen4 i7-1255U 16GB SSD512 - Does the Intel i7 run hot?
What your talking about would require a capture card, and be a complicated process. You should look into just getting another monitor instead of connecting a laptop :) - Hope that helps!
The P Series is definitely a higher end system. That is in its own category - we are working on video describing its features. But if you want to learn more you can always head over to Lenovo's website!
@@SkycompSolutionsInc ok I will look at Lenovo's and your upcoming video too. Most systems these days heat up when under multiprocessing. Is there any thinkpad model which heats comparatively less in P series ?
HI I am a student who wants to run linux and I do a bit of coding and some gaming( not AAA or nay such just the basic like GTA V) so I was thinking of going to the E15 ryzen 7 5700U variant with 16gb ram, So can are there any heating and fan issues and performance issues with the E15, as I usually run a lot of tabs and do a lot of multi tasking.
Hi great video.. I am getting into data science I am stuck between e series 14 gen 3 amd ryzen 7 5800u with all ram upgradable to 24 gb and all the military grade specs and L series with ryzen 7 pro 4750u (a generation lower) with benchmark score lesser than 5800u by 20 percent but with an upgradable ram to 64 gb. Which one do you suggest for me considering i am a novice and need a laptop for learning and professional use. Lower generation with ram expansion vs higher generation with lower ram upgrade. I am gravitated towards e series because of better value. Thanks

@@SkycompSolutionsInc I do have few doubts. E14 gen 2 AMD (indian version) didn't shown in psref.com. Model is 20T6S0A500 (Came with non-backlit, and windows home not like global versions that has pro)
From first hand experience: E - best keyboard, no card reader L - Good keyboard, very heavy and outdated looking T - sleek modern design, good keyboard, but horrible upgradability. The L series is heavier and less solidly built than even the E series. The L series is also the most outdated looking. Get E if you don't need card reader or LTE Get L if you don't care about weight but need LTE and card reader Get T is you have a bigger budget.
That's one way to put it! Laptops are all up to the user experience and what career or job role they have! We love this description! Thanks for helping summarize!
T Series Had 2 Side. T14 Series Horrible Upgradability, and T15 Series Opposite. And Design T14 Sleek design and T15 outdate Looking. T Series Had Magnesium and Aluminum. E Series Had Aluminum and Plastic L Series Plastic.
From the video i understood that the t series is the best one...still i want to ask...which laptop is best for deep learning..machine learning...also graphic card and display were not mentioned...
Hey Sheerma, You should look to the P-Series, this has graphics cards and is more focused toward what laptop you are looking for - The reason we didn't mention graphics cards - is because these systems have built in CPU cards! Hope that helps!
Hey SJam not the best option, you would probably be frustrated by the speed of your system, built in graphics card and amount of memory/ram. We would suggest P-series or something with the ability to add more ram, a Nvidia Card and just overall more powerful system.
Wow thanks RU-vid for bringing this up, nicely explained...calm and cheerful video and what a clean website (Yes I visited your website). I got a Lenovo E15 I7 10th Gen, it has a backlit keyboard, but I'm curious about the heating on lenovo machines especially the one I got, How is the thermal? Because you didn't talk about that.
Glad RU-vid could bring us together :) - To answer your question, depends on the model specifically - If its higher spec, its going to get warmer for sure. If your running additional features as well.
@@SkycompSolutionsInc Sorry I did not make myself clear. What I meant was the specification for Wifi with 11AX (2x2) as compared with Intel® Wi-Fi 6E AX210 2x2 AX. Which between these 2 Wifi's has a faster rate of reception? I asked this because when I use my other laptop, the speedtest is half of that as compared with my desktop
The L-Series 15" has a number pad - the other laptops are 13" and don't have number pads - the laptops with number pads are better for accounting careers. That being said other Lenovo laptops do have number pads - you just need to get the larger version with the wider keyboard to accommodate it.
Depends on which specific model you get. Most of these laptops are fairly thin and lightweight. The T series specifically has a few versions that are on the thinner side. All Lenovo laptops are testing against 12 military-grade requirements and more than 200 quality checks.
You can read more about it here -skycomp.ca/learn/article/lenovo-laptops-choosing-between-the-e-t-and-l-series-whats-the-difference - or the Lenovo website gives you details specs on weight! Hope that helps!
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-syDCnwrYyag.html This video talks about theses computers - not so much the P-Series, another video coming out soon about that! Thanks!
Yes you can replace the battery, Skycomp would always recommend doing this at a repair shop with a professional, but if you have the tools and skills.. go for it! Make sure you backup all your data and shutdown the computer properly!
@@SkycompSolutionsInc thank you. However ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sgUWAzjgC3s.html claims, the battery is glued to the chassis. Is this only specific to a small number of L15's?
You need yo disable the internal battery in the bios before you shut it down. Also normal shut down doesn’t actually shut down the pc on windows 10. You need to press shift on keyboard before clicking on start>power
Hello, Depending on your workload we would recommend a T16 with a minimum processor of the intel i7 and 16GB of RAM. Although this could jump to a P16 if what you are doing requires graphic support.
Hi HuongQ, the G stands for generations. So as of right now the G1 is discontinued, G2 is being phased out and G has just been released! G3 is going to be the best option for a new purchase, these will have the newest processors. I hope this clears up any confusion!
If you will be relying on a lot of processing with coding and dealing with graphics etc. we suggest going with a P Series machine as it has a dedicated graphics card for that sort of editing. Right now is a great time to look into the P Series laptops as Lenovo usually puts on big sales for that line near the fall. You can check out our video on the P series here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9adQ9rXaT2Y.html. If you aren't doing intense processing for your coding and don't need that powerful of a machine we would suggest the T series out of this line up as the fans are placed strategically to keep your processor cooled and will perform faster for coding. Hope this helps!

I was previously using T460 core i3 laptop and it was upgraded to L14 core i5 laptop. I feel the speakers and mic in L14 are performing poor when compared to the T460. Is that something downgraded in the L14 model?
Hello Niroshan, Dolby® Home Theater® v4 is what comes on the T460 i7 - This uses 5.1-channel surround sound, where as the L14 just has Dolby® Audio™ High Definition (HD) Audio, Realtek® ALC3287 codec - This is just stereo so that's why your probably noticing a difference.
I'm switching from an old Macbook Pro (4Gb RAM - SOO SLOW) to a Thinkpad. Leaning more towards L or T series because of the multiple monitor ports. Which model is thinner/lighter? Also, how much RAM should I get if I need multiple programs open, tabs in Chrome, etc? Currently, 4GB is excrutiatingly slow.
My advice which is just recycled advice from friends is this: 16 is a minimum. If you want to play video games then that's a different question, you then probably need more. Look for a good CPU because that too is important, not just the ram, but it seems all three of these series have nice CPUs. I'm sorry I can't help more. T series seem to be more modifyable, i.e. easier to add another RAM stick or other things. But I'm not an expert.
@@essennagerry Hi, thanks for your reply. 16 GB RAM seems minimum. It's not for gaming, just business, to do work on - spreadsheets, word, email, internet, etc. I need multiple tabs open and programs. Would 16Gb Ram be enough? What would be a good CPU - i7, 11th Gen? How many cores, threads? ? How much Ghz processing speed?
You are on the right track here - Those little details matter (cores, threads, processing speed etc) but if you go for something with an i7 11th gen, 16 GB ram, you'll have no trouble running what you want. :) Reach out at Skycomp.ca if you need more guidance! Best, The Skycomp Team
@@kingfatihtv Can I know the ram and Hard drive of the one you got ? I am currently getting the 16gb ram and 1TB for 841 euro, Is it a good deal and How is you experience with the laptop till now? E series ThinkPads can also be configured with backlit keyboard. I have had one. Also, among the L and E series laptops I have used, I found that L series has better keyboard with more key travel. Could you please confirm if that difference in keyboards is among all L and E series laptops or was it just between the specific models that I used? Thanks.
