Is there a clicking sound while using the ssd like the one while using hdd?
@ModiAdams
@ModiAdams 4 года назад
There isn't any kind of sounds coming out of the whole system after SSD installation since any SSD has no moving parts at all, while HDD has a motor and plate that's spinning at 5400 to 7200 rpm. and also the notebook itself has no fan since it's passively cooled with a piece of metal.

No explanation required - well videoed but just a note of caution to folks about taking care as you remove the back panel. 1) Use a very sharp object to initially prise open the panel. 2) You need to be careful about the amount of force to use. Too little and nothing happens, too much and you may damage the case so be careful as this part of the procedure is the most difficult but with patience and resolve can be accomplished in a few minutes (less than 10)
@ModiAdams
@ModiAdams 4 года назад
Thank you so much Fin, I never use any sharp metal tools to open the back panels and i use plastic prying tool or a sharp plastic objects that wouldn't damage the laptop or break the clips.

Hello, recently my ideapad 330 has been very slow. When I checked in the settings I saw only 4 gb ram on this device. But I swear that was not the case 2 years ago when I bought it, coz I would have noticed that in the settings. Recently I also updated to the latest windows version. Do you know what could be the reason behinf all this?
@ModiAdams
@ModiAdams 3 года назад
If you are using the same copy of windows since the day you bought it, it would get faster if you reinstall a fresh copy of windows, also if you are using a regular HDD, you should definitely upgrade to a much faster 2.5" SATA3 SSD, Make sure you are using windows 10 home or just any edition other than the Pro on such a low-end machine that is meant for basic everyday computing tasks.

I'm not sure if RAM is upgradable on this particular machine, but the SSD upgrade is A MUST, it will run terribly slow with a regular HDD.

Hi Modi, Thanks for the video, I have the same 330 laptop with 2tb hdd and 8 gb RAM. My question is 1. I use heavy software like android studio and it runs very much slow and takes around 6-7 gb of ram. Do you suggest only ssd upgrade or both ssd and ram upgrade? And if you suggest RAM upgrade is it possible for this model? 2. Should i replace hdd with ssd or is it good to keep hdd with ssd?
@ModiAdams
@ModiAdams 3 года назад
Hello Pravin, You are welcome :) and you should definitely upgrade to an SSD with your desired capacity, 240, 500 or even 1TB. and i don't think that such a model can have more than 8GB of ram since it's a Celeron N4000 CPU as i remember. such a low-end CPU would be a bottle-neck on the system no matter how much RAM you have got. 8GB of RAM is alright, and you can install the SSD and drop the 2TB HDD in a USB-Rack or a DVD Caddy in stead of the optical drive if yours has one.

What is the benefit metal cover or Memory ram? and the laptop has only 1 slot for memory ram or 2? and what if I wanna to uprgrade it to 32 G.B? THanks
@ModiAdams
@ModiAdams 3 года назад
Hey Youssif, you are welcome! and the metal cover for the RAM on any of the modern laptops are for protecting the memory chips from the static charges that could potentially damage them. and such a low-end machines with a Celeron CPUs aren't made for high demand multi-tasking, so you wouldn't get that huge difference in performance upgrading your RAM, only make sure you install an SSD and that will boost the speed enough. i never upgraded a celeron machine's RAM anyway, they always come with a 4Gigs which is enough, the CPU is a bottle-neck itself. It's meant for basic browsing, mails, youtube and productivity not many tabs and so on.

Hey la belle, any 2.5" SATA3 SSD will work perfectly fine up to 1TB, but i'm afraid you can't upgrade the RAM since it's an ultra-affordable notebook that isn't meant for much upgrades, change the SSD and it will boost the overall performance x5 ~ x10. Upgrading to an SSD is a must.

Hi there! You said exactly what you need to do. Just install the SSD as your main drive and the HDD in a DVD caddy and that's it, i would recommend a fresh clean installation of the same windows version you had right to the SSD in stead of taking an image from the old HDD or something. and don't worry about the license as it's tied to your hardware and it will be reactivated once you are connected to the internet.

Hey Sachin, They meant that you can add an extra HDD on something called a DVD-Caddy in stead of your optical drive or the DVD, that's in case your laptop does have one. But you can just remove the old 2.5" HDD and replace it with and other 2.5" SATA3 SSD and it will work perfectly fine. No need to put the SSD in stead of an optical drive or anything, just remove the Hard drive and drop the SSD right away.

The only lenovo low-end CPU laptop that does have a PCIe slot and supports NVMe drives is lenovo S145, Ideapad 3 and L3 series does have it as well. and in such a low-end CPU, you wouldn't notice much difference in overall performance between a regular SATA3 and a NVMe drive. keep in mind, the SATA3 won't get toasty hot compared to most NVMe drives.

Brother, I really appreciate your replies. You are giving replies to repeated question too. But mine is a different problem which is not listed in any comment. I have a problem with HDD adding to DVD slot. Actually mine was 2TB HDD model IdeaPad 330. It has a dummy DVD closed slot. The local shop guy said, as it is not a real DVD slot, we can't close this after adding the HDD by caddy. It will be kept open. Is that true?? Can't we close after adding the caddy? Also he said, actually there should be a whole to fit the caddy screw. Since there is no screw hole, and can't close, the HDD will come out of it. Is that correct? Lengthy question. But please help me
@ModiAdams
@ModiAdams Год назад
You are welcome bro! and well, if your laptop came with a dummy DVD and doesn't have an actual DVD, then you can remove the whole back of the laptop and check if it does have a real SATA3 slot inside at the place of the DVD, if so, then you can install a DVD-HDD Caddy and close it with no problem. You can set booting priority via the BIOS. restart your device and keep pressing F2 maybe or Del, but usually F2 does let you go to the BIOS menu. also some lenovo notebooks does have a recovery hardware button on either sides of the laptop that if you press it with a SIM tool, it will allow you to enter BIOS and set booting priority. all and all, if you remove all drives and leave only the SSD, it will always boot from it with no problems at all.
