Lenovo Yoga 710 Screen Replacement Correct Procedure

In this video I show how to replace the screen on a Lenovo Yoga 710 laptop. In my previous video of this same model laptop I used heat and pry tools to separate the top lid of the laptop from the screen. At the time of that video Lenovo had not yet released service manuals for that model laptop. As my users pointed out later the proper way to remove the screen is by pulling on the adhesive tape this at the base of the screen near the hinge area. This is a follow-up video showing the correct procedure of pulling the tape to release the screen from the top lid. Both of your videos are extremely helpful, I would have never guessed at the tape and correct removal. Thank you so much. Just a point here - if your hinge has come off the display back, be prepared with some super strong epoxy to glue it back on, and change the hinges for good measure while you are at it.

Sounds like this works like the 3M command adhesive used on wall hangers. which you remove by pulling down. If you try to pull it straight off, it is very strong, but if you stretch it vertically down, it releases. Thanks for making the followup video.

If the tape tears beyond reach, a work around I found is to gradually lift the screen carefully inserting stacks of paper cards such as flash cards as you go. The cards keep the screen from coming back down and just keep working it up from bottom to top.

In your video at 2:00 you show a cover that comes off to expose the tape to remove the screen. Do you know the part number to that cover or where i can purchase it from ???

Hi, the camera in the yoga 710 14inch intermittently works, so I suspect the cable loose.. is the camera part of the screen or is it behind the screen in the frame?

There is no new tape. You have the one screw at the bottom and the small tabs at the top holding the screen into place. Not as secure as original configuration from factory.

Great video TIM. OEM's strike again. what a hair brain idea is it to use Tape that you have to Pull to remove a screen , the cost of a cople of screws would be cheap and easier to use

@@TimsComputerRepair can you give me the brand? what type? I was able to remove the screen per your instructions. However the replacement screen doesn't have that double sided tape on it :( I also wonder if it is even worth repairing. I feel like I just opened a can of worms.

@@aldo959 I could not find the exact one. I think that is manufactured for Lenovo. I found something similar on AliExpress. Check for double sided tape. They are transparent but have red cover on them. Get the thinnest one. I do t recall the dimensions. It took 2 weeks to receive from China, but it works fine.

Sadly, most of the comments that were posted, go unanswered. This seems to be an issue with many repair facilities. Lack of Communication back to the posters. Even if the answer was a No, or cannot help.

the tape will neva pop man , jus admit that u didnt know how 2 do it and u feel dumb asf for ruining the first or who knows how many laptops before u learned how 2 do it properly
