• Lenovo Yoga 710 Screen...
In this video I show how to replace the 4K touch screen on a Lenovo Yoga Laptop model number 710-151KB. If you think this is an easy repair YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS VIDEO FIRST! Lenovo has gone out of their way to cement in this panel. The customer brought the computer into my shop in Savannah GA. The laptop slipped out of a backpack and landed on the corner denting the top lid and cracking the screen. If you have any laptops that are in need of a screen repair you can contact Tim's Computer Repair and we will be glad to repair your laptop. You can contact me at

Tim, many thanks. One side of the tape pulled easily... the other... not... and I destroyed the screen (camera, mic, and speakers work). I recommend PATIENCE for those trying. Fortunately for me, the computer works and I have an external screen to use while deciding if I'll bother ordering a replacement screen or using as is (it's an extra computer so I'll probably find a project use for it. Thanks again.

Just did this on the 710-14ikb the black tabs are underneath on either side of the microphone board. I didn't see them and ended up prying gently and got it done. Had I seen the tabs it would have been so much easier. Thank you for posting the video!

I can confirm that there are adhesive pull tabs just like the ones iPhones use to hold their batteries down. It's right behind the two silver shielded/insulated wires at the bottom left and another to the right of the middle screw. They're glossy so it's actually not hard to miss. Definitely could have been a 10-10 minute job with minimal tools. Thanks for the video though, it's a good quick crash course to the screen with the addition to the comment section being very helpful. I repaired a 1080p screen variant of this device. They're identical in terms of screen design.

Hey. When you put it back together do you replace it with double sided tape or leave it without tape. I’m repairing a yoga 710 that the adhesive came off the hinge so I have to re adhere it and I don’t know if I should put more tape on the edge to replace what I pulled
@macemaster11
@macemaster11 4 года назад
Chris Shatley Hi, I installed the display without the tape at first to check for issues and then removed the screen again to put the double sided adhesive on. You don’t need to have the replacement adhesives for normal operation. Hope this helps, cheers.

It was almost painful watching the screen removal in this video 😮. I just did this exact same job with a credit card and a hair dryer. I heated the lid from the backside and ran the credit card under the screen where the adhesive is. Pretty easy. I did not damage the old screen any further removing it, it still works.

why didn’t you show replacing the new screen with adhesive since the broken screen was attached using it? what type or size adhesive would be used for the new screen? otherwise i assume the screen will not be held in place.

Just double sided tape, layered as needed will suffice. And you're right, without it the screen is surprisingly.... slidey.

I mean no disrespect, but you doing it wrong. Once you remove the the 3 screws cover by the "bezel". you just have to pull the 2 black tapes from the lower part of the screen. after that the screen comes out really easy. Much like how apple secures the Iphone batteries . WITHOUT A HEAT GUN

I appreciate the comment however that is not the case with this particular model. I have seen some videos showing similar models where the screen assembly comes right out with no issues. This model the screen is bonded to the top lid just as shown in the video.

To the left & right of that little sound board (under that center piece of plastic) in the video. they are just black, shiny, and tacky/sticky. grab it, and slowly pull down towards yourself. The left one is slightly covered by video cable, but you can use your spludger to hook it out to the front.

I just spent an hour replacing the screen on my wife's Lenovo Yoga. Miguel is right - there's no need to smash the screen. There are two black rubber 'thingies' that you can VERY SLOWLY pull - that's the 'glue' that sticks the screen to the laptop 'metal' itself. Other than that BE VERY CAREFUL with the cables of the screen. I almost cut one of them. The video is super helpful other than this - thank you so much TimsComputerRepair and thank you Miguel for the comment - both helped me complete my first ever laptop screen replacement :-)

The stretch release adhesive strips snapped on the 710-15IKB I was working on. I was resigned to potentially destructive alternative, as in this first vid, but after seeing how it is constructed, I tried a different heating and prying method. I detatched the battery, flipped the screen greater than 180 degrees, and inserted a long thin kitchen knife near the hinge and where I figured the adhesive to be. Then applied heat and gentle lifting and twisting on the knife and successfully got it apart without shattering or damaging cables. Thanks, otherwise I'd be out the cost of a screen.

Hi thanks a lot for this video! really useful! i have two questions: On 23:10 the blue board hanging from the bottom of the screen is not attached and at 23:15 it is attached. How did you manage to attach it? did you have to use adhesive tape? My second question is I noticed you didn't use tape to secure the screen back to the lid like how it was attached originally, is this not necessary? Thank you!

Thanks for the video! I too thought this was going to be an easy-ish repair and quoted WAYYY too low for the amount of careful work that goes into this. The black tape on the left side snapped when it was half way out so I had no choice but to brute force it off. Terrible design from Lenovo.

I loved the repair video, I have to do it in my lenovo yoga 700 14-isk and I wanted to know if the repair is very similar since I'm thinking of buying the crystal and changing it, I have broken the glass in the lower left area, and I see that it does not affect the touch in any case. But I do not like to see her like that. Should I change full screen? or can I find only the touch glass? what I believe is what has been broken ... thanks

I was going to replace my Yoga 710 screen but I discovered that the screen works if I pinch it in the lower right corner. Must be some circuit that came loose. I just put a chip clip there and it works fine now. Not very elegant but a lot better than going through all this and buying a new screen. Anybody have a similar issue?

Yes! Sort of. If I press down on the keyboard-side of the laptop right inside the right hinge, it keeps the screen from flashing. However, I have to apply the correct amount of pressure and the laptop seems very sensitive the change in position and pressure, so I think I will try to change out (or adjust) the LCD cable anyway.

You should have to pull out two rubber tapes behind the screen first, see "YOGA 710 1415 HMM - CNET Content Solutions" page 54 (Lenovo Yoga 710-14 Hardware Maintenance Manuals), If otherwise you can heat up with a hairdryer, it is lot more safer than a heat gun for paint remover.

Very helpful video...just completed replacement of the old, cracked screen using part “ASSY-LEYO71014FHD” purchased from www.ScreenSurgeons.com. I wish I had read the notes on the video from other viewers before I completed the job...the black sticky tape apparently pulls off like a 3M Command Strip off a wall but I did not know so I did it the “hard” way too using a paint stripping tool to pry the old screen off the adhesive tape and cover. Thanks Tim for letting us know where all the wiring was running through so I was able to use brute force, being careful not to bend or ding the metal backing plate/cover.
@TimsComputerRepair

Michail I think some of the other revisions have easier ways of taking off this screen assembly. As tough as the tape is there is no way you can just pull a tab and it comes right off. I have seen other videos with similar revision where the screen comes right off.
