Hello On Wed it is the same laptop. When you connect the charger, the LED nearby lights up but the laptop does not. What will it be?

Can be literally anything between a issue around the embedded controller and a fault inside of the CPU, so will be hard to troubleshoot remotely. I'd prefer that you contact me via my website or via E-Mail. Thanks and best regards. Mike

This is very good. I have found that the broken power switch is very common on Lenovo. The button failure is so common that it should be a screw down mounting with ribbon connection for easy replace.

Mike, at the point you mentioned the pressure and the BGA, I have asked Sorin to make an educational video for BGA reballing but on an actual faulty device not as demonstration and he strongly deny it every time. To make such a repair you don't need fancy expensive tools as some believe. Some stencils (for the specific BGA chiip) a heat gun some solder balls or paste and a preheater which can be anything even a stove. The only thing you need to watch closely is the temperature and this can be done by connecting a K type thermocouple on your multimeter ( thing it supports it) and/or some irda thermometer. I have seen soooooo many faults related to broken BGA solder joints and sooooo many devices that can be saved by just reballing a chip. Would you consider to make a video let's say an experimental attempt to reball a chip on a known working device just for the sake of practicing and learning ?

I was afraid that one day I would receive such a request. :) In fact, I have already successfully repaired a laptop a few times using PCH replacement. Unfortunately, that was before I started recording videos. But I have also had failures. With some I understood the reason. With others, I still don't (for example, fuses inside the PCH have blown?). You know Sorin hates to waste time so he will always deny such a request... :) You know what, as soon as I find a suitable board with a separate PCH, I'll look into it. I don't touch CPUs any more. I can't do it with my equipment. But it may take a while, okay? Would that be enough? Many greetings

@@fairrepair_en Das ist wunderbar Michael ! Sorin is a bit stubborn from times to times but he is good at his job and I've learned lot of things watching his video. Although I have a degree in electronics I was working for many years in IT sector and electronics was like a hobby but now I consider it like an old love that came back to stay :) Currently I have on my bench a Lenovo with a Ryzen 3500 APU that needs reballing. I managed to desolder it using an electric stove as preheater and my cheap heat gun. I've cleaned the pads and everything and now I'm waiting a reball station (a cheap one around $5) to use it as holder for the chip and the stencil in order to keep it aligned to apply the paste (or the balls, I haven't decided yet). I have seen hundreds (literally) of videos with reballing and it's like I have done it my self dozen of times but I know it's just my mind playing games :D Anyway, I'm happy you have it on track and I will eagerly wait to see it in an upcoming video.
