Man, I started following mkbhd when he had as many followers as you have now and enjoyed his content very much. I'd even say I enjoy it just as much today, and more specifically I appreciate his openness to Apple devices and using them. Whereas he use to be a pretty big google homer, but that didn't bother me so much because I like seeing passionate people try to convince me about the things they choose to spend their hard earned money on. He's always great editing but was more tech focused first, like kid in candy shop vibe. It was about a 75/25 split on tech being his primary concern back then to 'crispy' editing as he likes to call it. Nowadays, it's a 50/50 split which isn't bad at all; I catch all of his videos without fail, but I miss the good ol days so to speak. Now, I feel like you're in that golden era (for me at least because you make these videos just for me right?) where you got just the right amount of fluff (which is not a lot) and a whole lot of information and opinion on the device. Stay true blue mr. you deserve the profit and success and are worthy to have this as your day job. Yours truly, A happy viewer.

The feature where I can place paper on the notebook and take notes is EVERYTHING I ever wanted! It's perfect for note taking! I tried the surface but I hated gliding the pen across glass; it just didn't feel right. I really want this now just for that feature. I might actually get it.

Even if I were to buy this product, there is nothing (really nothing) that would make me choose for the Android version over the Windows. Until Google releases it's answer to unified OS's, I would not expend a penny in a system that tries to put android in a desktop environment. Let's face it, not even the Pixel C is yet a good 2 in 1, let alone this Lenovo thing. If MS update it's surface 3 with a modern Core M CPU, it would be a much better buy.

MrMobile [Michael Fisher] I like the Pixel C too, actually like it a lot, just wish for better multitasking capabilities and here is where I think Android falls short, and that's why I can't wait for news on Google new OS, and that's why I still prefer the surface. But in this case, I have some doubts about Lenovo's software stability and I share your concerns about future updates. :/ I has more capabilities than the Pixel, even more than the Surface, but it's software and future support for what's coming is a big "?" And more often than not, future tech presented today is soon forgotten by all but those who expended their money on it.

Actually, there was very similar product around 2007-2008 from Acer, Windows laptop with 15.6 or 17.3 inch screen and keyboard/Wacom digitizer, very expensive, running Windows Vista on not that powerful hardware, I saw it once in real life and it was good novelty item but almost unusable without external keyboard.

Currently using the Windows version of the Yoga Book and I'm incredibly impressed. Typing has become second nature, not perfect of course but it's much more comfortable than I could have imagined. The CPU is obviously "just" an Atom but it does pretty well to be fair; I can have plenty of tabs open with minimal lag, I can play basic Steam games like Brawlhalla and Terraria, and you always have that software compatibility that Android just can't offer sometimes, such as programming and a much more stable experience overall. Battery life is great, and sleep mode barely consumes battery life. Just don't expect much horsepower out of this machine, but as a light workhorse, note taking tablet or a Netflix machine it's fantastic. tl;dr - don't buy the Android version lol

Wow! You really know how to make a review. The Narration, the tempo, the tone, it is like following a short story, no kidding. And of course, it is very informative, covering all aspects. Still, adding a few benchmark wouldn't hurt. If RU-vid ever create an award system, you'd sure be in. Kudos!

How does the keyboard feel compares to the original Touch Cover from the first couple of Surface devices? That was the last time I tried a non-mechanical keyboard and it wasn't that great. Also, is there really any real advantage to the Android version over Windows 10? Windows will most certainly handle multitasking and mouse input better than Android could.

Thanks for the detailed video. How does the typing experience compare to that of the Surface Touch Cover? Is it similar? I unfortunately did not like that cover too much as I would always make mistakes, which took extra time to correct them.

For some reason I'm drawn to this more than other 2-in1s. Maybe it's the compact futurism or the built in digitiser for creative pursuits. I think I'd just have my BT keyboard available if I needed to type something long. However, I'd need the price come down or the specs to go up. Great vid Capt.

With Windows it seems to me like a slim, inferior Surface Pro. I like the idea of a Wacom tablet separate from the screen(the Surface Pro screen can get pretty warm and palm rejection is never perfect), but in the end physical keys are just better and it doesn't offer anything new.

Why, in 2016, do app developers make apps that do not support landscape mode? Surprisingly, even major apps that have the least complicated UI still do this (e.g., Opera VPN). At this point, I just assume they are very lazy.

Jeong-hun Sin becaue it's difficult to change the size of an app to suit all sizes for android. There are so many sizes of devices that are using android. Unlike apple, there arent much sizes so it is easier to edit each app

So so helpful thanks for the awesome review.. Clear and precise. Explaining even small details, the pros and cons. IT is really up to the buyer/consumers. Almost probably out of curiosity the reason for buying this but for my own reason perfect gift for my daughter who loves to explore her 1st step in creativity/drawings/writing. Damn, now the wait for my Yoga Book to arrive is even worse. That said, Michael, too bad you only reviewed the Android version. But perhaps you too only got this one and the Windows version is nowhere to be found so far. But, a small correction, the Windows version is coming with Win 10 Pro, not Home. Couldn't believe it too at first. Anyway, keep up the great work!

Looks neat, I'd imagine the keyboard is ultra uncomfortable to type on for long periods though. Would also be awkward with no tactile feedback as well. Kinda want to try it out, my surface pro 4 is so overkill for what I use it for, I may as well just sell it, buy one of these and have a little money left over.

@MrMobile Would you consider a ChromeOS Yoga Book a more viable option than the pure-Android one? Under the assumption that ChromeOS will soon run Android Apps inside a laptop ecosystem I can see that being a possibility. I've read rumors that Lenovo is soon to release a Chromebook Yoga Book.

This looks good but I am wary about this versus the Surface 3. Microsoft usually has sales for the 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage model of the Surface 3 for $500. Although you do have to pay an extra $180 for the keyboard and Surface Pen, you get a keyboard that is very satisfying to type on, a great trackpad (Even though it's the size of a damn matchbox), a responsive pen, no bloat on Windows, Microsoft Office 365 for a year, and a much cleaner software experience compared to the Android version of the Yoga Book. The Yoga Book looks great but for some I can imagine the $180 worth it. I wonder what Mr. Mobile thinks between these 2.

It's intriguing, but I wish it also had the digitizer on the screen with full pressure sensitivity. It's hard to go back from being able to draw right on the screen, to drawing off screen.

It's not illegal to own or sell one, it's just stupid. The device has no future (no updates, no developer support, etc.), other than maybe bursting into flames. It IS however illegal to carry it onto a plane.

1. That UI looks like what Chrome OS would look if it became popular and widely used. 2. Can the Windows version be flashed with Android and/or vice versa? I know it would require a rooted device, but is it possible? I ask this because since you mentioned the Android is a customized version, I was curious about how it is different from regular Android internally. And Microsoft has already made it possible to install W10M on an Android phone. So it is not impossible. 3. And umm.. heh..do you have a cold?

For windows version it would be nice if there were a bluetooth accessory clicky full size keyboard that overlays the built in one. Then it could be used as a desktop replacement as typing on it all day would be better. Then for on the go portability just leave the keyboard at home.

Both versions use the same Intel Atom chip, you guess which one would run better. I personally wouldn't touch any desktop OS on such a weak chip and only 4GB of RAM. I love the product though and wanna replace my iPad with one of these once they beef up the internals on the 2nd gen version

If this was on older generation of Windows like 7 or 8 I would totally agree with you but a lot of optimization was made for lower speced hardware for Windows 10 that unless you are trying to do some hardcore editing or gaming (to which using Android doesn't help in that matter either) it works perfectly fine. I use a cheap Asus Transformer with an Atom chip and Windows 10 in it and although I wouldn't use Adobe Premiere with it, it still works great with Audacity and Sound Byte which helps me prepare and edit my current college radio show and those features just wouldn't have been accomplishable with Android or an IPad (to which anyone who wants to argue that the IPad Pro can do editing with iMovie has to realize it really it is the software in name alone as it has the features of an editing software from 5-7 years ago of which if I wanted that I could technically get the same quality from downloading Windows Movie Maker, either way if you want the real thing neither are worth it).
