This is probably one of the top dogs in this first batch of Snapdragon Elite X units. Screen, keyboard, battery, and overall cooling is fantastic on this unit.
Nice to have a review that’s not all about video rendering. Not all of us will ever produce a you tube video or care about video editing. Great to see a review and laptop made for users like myself that use Microsoft suite for work and browse web, read books, watch RU-vid in down time.🎉
Yes, I've gotten annoyed with it as well. It's fine if you want to run benchmarks but for most that is all they do. There was one video I watched that talked about this one and the vivobook S15. They kept talking about gaming performance. I was like "wtf are you talking about gaming performance when this laptop is not even close to having gaming as a use case???" So many of these reviewers are just focussed on pushing out a video, instead of actually consider who this laptop is for. I want to know how this laptop performs compared to similar devices! Let's say that this Yoga Slim 7x is great for watching content, writing documents, taking notes, working on business documents, or as a mobile conference call device - how does it compare to a tablet? Does it compete with a similarly priced tablet or would a $500 dollar laptop perform the same? Like, for real reviewers, think. I think your example with video editing is another annoyance. Are people actually going to render 4k RU-vid videos on this? On a 14" laptop.
Important note: you can order this model customized from Lenovo, with an upgrade to W11 Pro for $28, an upgrade from 16GB RAM to 32GB RAM for $69 and SSD from 500GB to 1TB for $45(this is worth it since the SSD inside the laptop is 2242 and not as affordable as 2280), some of the most fair upgrade specs I've seen for any of the customizable Copilot+ PCs. (Base model $1,199 USD, with upgrades $1,341) If you skip W11 Pro, it's $1,313 making it only $13 more than the Asus S15.
@@adequatequality it is positive, i charge my machine two days once on low and medium usage and i get around 4-5 hours SOT on high usage such as running two Linux VMs etc. regular light usage gets me around 10 hours. best thing is that i can charge it using m mobile charger . lol
@@mavfan1 Not clear enough apparently, I have the same exact Yoga 7i with Core Ultra 7 that was released this year and the battery life, display, and fan noise is abysmal. The keyboard is pretty good though. I was unsure if we both had the same experience or not, that's why I wanted to know
tried it but felt 1080 playback in anything other than Windows Media Player was choppy. Speakers not so great. I purchased Surface Laptop 7 which has better speaker for the same cost but not OLED
How is 4K Playback (RU-vid, Netflix and locally) and Performance (and Fan Noise) when using an external 4K Monitor with the Laptop Screen at the same time? I noticed that almost no Reviewer tests Performance with an external Monitor.
I really like this but not completely ready to go ARM here yet. I agree AI to me is a gimmick I don't really have any interest of it controlling me or making decisions. Just take my commands and I will create. I am sure it has value to some people but I want my computer to do exactly what I expect to see in repetitive actions and can count on those actions. However the screen resolution, 1000 nit 90 hz, fast ram and what seems like nice power 12 core chips in a really nice tight looking package seems really nice for 1200. But boy does this look like a macbook air
man.. really cool. I'm still bummed it's not a 2 in 1.. that would be a sell for me. Why on earth do they call them Yoga still when they can't yoga ! Not a gigantic deal for me.. but I know as soon as I'd buy one of these Dell would release an xps 13 2 in 1... or Lenovo/thinkpad will sell one. For me an ideal size would be like the Thinkpad Nano.. oled/90hz(at least)... 360degree hinge.. around 2 pounds.. throw in a stylus that fits in the laptop and of course with one of the snapdragons for that awesome power on battery , and of course the long battery life as well. Am I asking too much :)
Severe software limitations with the new ARM processors. IMO not worth it for the price point. If all you want to do is run windows suites and browse the web then you can purchase a laptop for the half the price and nearly the same battery life. Not having AutoDesk Support for CAD as an engineering student is a huge dissapointment. On top of that video editing software like Premiere Pro still not supported. The power is there but the functionality simply isnt.
Great video. You asked to leave comments and questions. My primary reason for wanting this laptop is for photo editing. My friend wants it for photo editing and video editing.. Is this machine up to the task when using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop?
I no longer get excited by OLED displays, as they are omnipresent. I prefer IPS panels as they have no PWM and are better when I work on office stuff; OLED does my eyes and head in. I am glad MS kept the Surface Laptop 7 IPS. Lenovo does not have an IPS option with anti-glare, which is a deal-breaker. Other than that, the device spec and price are excellent, and it comes down to whether you want to jump through hoops for the next 6-12 months with ARM compatibility. Google Drive and my VPN already do not work, so it is a mess for business. The bootloader appears locked and lacks eGPU support on these USB4 spec sheets. When you have Intel and AMD arriving in the next 1-3 months with far more capable chips and similar efficiency, and from the price leaks comparable pricing, it is hard to recommend the X-Elite.
Intel has been promising a leap in battery life for the last 5 generations at least. But this time they can be believed? As with all the Qualcomm hype, we can believe it when we see it in independent reviews.
I have a $350 Lenovo Chromebook that has excellent build quality, all aluminum body and an excellent screen and keyboard. It's hard for me not to recommend Lenovo laptops. The build quality is better than my $1400 Asus VivoBook pro OLED
Not Compatible with lots of programs is a No Go for me. Don’t get me wrong long battery 🔋 is awesome, but until they can get 90% of programs to work on the chip I’ll have to stick to Intel or AMD
This looks very good but man that glossy screen is like a mirror, it looks even more reflective than the macbook ones. I wonder if the matte screen of the ThinkPad T14s is somewhat decent
i picked up both for couple of days... the lenovo slim 7x and the samsung edge 4 - 14" - the screen on samsung might not be as bright - it is bright enough at 500nits. but what sold me on samsung was he anti reflective on samsung , lenovo screen was a mirror.. horrible..couldnt even work , even the backlit keys reflected like crazy. amazing screen on samsung - best anti reflective coating is have seen. also not to foget the lenovo has a slower cpu - 78-100 , samsung has the 80-100
I got this for $850 open box from Best Buy. It’s in pristine condition but only has 1 issue. I’ve had about 4 or 5 crashes in Quicken in the few hours I’ve been working. Quicken has done a good job of auto saving to keep data. The other issue is video drivers when connect to my 49 Samsung monitor. I have to connect and reconnect to get it to work at the right resolution
Watching this on my new Slim 7x. Loving this laptop so far. I've only ever owned one laptop in my life (a 10 year old HP Envy that is still fine to use just way too big to take anywhere).
Hello, yoga Slim 7X X Elite 32GB vs M2 Pro 16GB Iam currently deciding which machine to get but aim kinda unsure. Iam a cs student and software developer and the machine should def be powerful enough for my workload.
Looking to dual-boot with Ubuntu. Tuxedo is based on Ubuntu and are coming out with a Qualcomm based hardware with an Ubuntu Aarm64 OS with KDE plasma desktop. Should be fun - lol - plan to dual-boot mine with a similar set up built as starting point for dev.
@@EZBlast I just needed a laptop for school and the teacher said that it needs to run Linux as we will use it alot… Will stay away from the 7x until they fix its compatability, hopefully before 20th of august otherwise I have to look somewhere else. A Tuxedo would be overkill for me haha. Sounds like a fun project!
This may be a minor complaint but I find the vertical sticker on the palm rest so damn ugly...the little Snapdragon one is fine, but why do they have to ruin the aesthetic like that with the 'Yoga' sticker. Like we know it's a Lenovo laptop line and the name is etched on the right side of the computer 🤦
