Leny Yoro flying to UK to take medical + finalise personal terms as Man United push to complete signing from Lille. 18yo defender initially favoured Real Madrid but Lille accepted initial €62m United bid - still work to do but now close...
His original preference was to join Real Madrid but they have so far shown no indication of paying the price that United and Lille settled on.
That led the Ligue 1 side to strongly favour a deal with United for Yoro, who they would rather sell this summer than risk losing him as a free agent when his existing contract expires in June 2025.
The 18-year-old France youth international has warmed to the idea of moving to Old Trafford and the latest developments are a major step forward in the situation, but there is still work to be done.
If all goes to plan, United will secure their primary target to bolster in defence and a player regarded across the game as being a generational talent.

The Premier League team maintain their admiration for options such as Matthijs de Ligt of Bayern Munich and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, although a further arrival is likely to depend on departures to create finance and squad space.
Other interested parties including Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have been pursuing Yoro’s services, though his initial choice of Real Madrid appeared to have made this a one-horse race.
Regardless, United persisted and while the door has remained ajar they applied intensive efforts to lure him to the north west of England. Barring a late and unexpected turn of events, that mission is now close to coming to fruition.

Not really. With Yoro we have 5 firdt team CB's. We still need to sell Maguire and/or Lindelof to bring in a second defender.

@@jonaalton3782 But one is Jonny, who shouldn't really play that much, one is Maguire, who doesn't fit the system at all, and one is Lindelöf, who isn't good enough. Kambwala wouldn't have been able to develop, which is crucial, and I'm happy he was sold because of it, but realistically, United need another CB who will actually play and be good, which isn't those three mentioned.

I don't think it's fair to say Licha is injury prone. He was rushed back from his first injury which needed surgery and his second injury came from a player forcefully falling on his leg in an awkward way. He'll be fine.

The problem is that he has a knee ligament and a metatarsal injury. Unlike on computer games, those injuries are both notorious for recurrence. How they happened is of absolutely no relevance in determining the likelihood of a repeat of the injury. There are lots of ways a knee ligament can be damaged, not just from someone falling on it. Despite the toe he broke being one that is (slightly) less prone to recurring injury, his has already gone a second time. The knee ligament never fully heals, and over stretching it creates far higher likelihood of it going again. These are not injuries that "Heal back stronger". They are very likely to go again. The chance of him suffering a repeat of either of those is injuries in the following season is much higher than the risk of someone who has never suffered them. It's no longer about "Luck" and more about "Time". This is not a criticism of the player. This is just how anatomy and medical science works.

This doesn't mean we're done with DeLigt. It means we're not deflating Lindelof's transfer value by effectively declaring him a 4th or 5th choice centre-back. We just need a sale sorted.

Bayern might be leveraged into reducing De Ligt's transfer fee further to get him off their wage bill and then we'd go into the season with two strong RCB, Licha and Harry which I feel is a very good centre back corps.

De Ligt would be a nice addition to the squad, but I think it's good that United were working on 3 or 4 deals at once with the intention of only closing on 2. Far better than chasing De Jong for an entire window. It's not a perfect set of centre backs, but it still leaves room for Todibo to join in a year.

This just goes to show United are still the biggest club in the world and we get big name players whenever we want 😎 I honestly predict us having a great upcoming season now. A great signing, hopefully. He's not a complete player yet as he does have some vulnerabilities in his game, but he's young and is still eager to learn, which shows great maturity. My only real concern is his aerial awareness and heading abilities, but I'm sure United will work on this because this is vital in the Prem.

Signing Yoro gives us a leverage in dealing with Bayern, who is bluffing with how much they want for a player they want out and don’t need. We are effectively calling their bluff by signing another centre half. I wouldn’t be surprised if De Ligt signed at a lower price. Now we need a left-back and a central midfielder. Toney would be a bonus. And we need to sell properly.

Its all nice and fuzzy having a big squad of quality players like current city side or some of SAFs squads. The dilemma is quality players will only trade playing time with winning major trophies and competing for side trophies consistently. Utd is not in a position where we will dominate and win consistently to have a large squad of quality players throughout the 25-30 squad. We need to build an elite 11 with decent backup and then leverage that for better players

I think Selling Kambwala sucks. I was really hoping for De Ligt, Yoro, Martinez, Evans and Kambwala. I think Kambwala going means maguire stays. But hopefully they do De Ligt when Lindelof is sold. Maguire, De Ligt, Martinez, Yoro and Evans seems ok for 1 season, with shaw being able to step in on occasion. Or maybe hancko?

Beating Real Madrid is a bit of a stretch. Real Madrid wanted to sign him next year on a free and were offering him some time in Castilla and a few minutes here and there in the first team. Man Utd are paying the full transfer fee and are more or less guaranteeing him the starting XI spot. Probably offering him more money as well.

It was always Yoro or De Ligt, both players want first team football. We can’t sign and have them both play. Branthwaite is a different profile and is willing to come as a development player. Expect if we can shift players we try again for him.

It looks like we are selling Wan Bissaka to West Ham and we are still in for De Ligt. The reason why is that were not extending Lindelöfs contract and have gotten some offer for him. We know Amrabat is capable of playing as a CB, but who do we get instead of Wan Bissaka? That means we need a LB/LWB and a RB/RWB pluss a DMC like Ugarte. If im right the deal for De Ligt and Ugarte is ready and waiting for United. That means that Ineos wanted to get the Yoro deal over the line safe and secure before finalising the other deals. I loved the the LB from Turkey that plays for Fenerbahçe and who the player that going to replace Aaron I dont know, but one things for sure Ineos is really cocking at the moment and you can clearly see the skills from the men at the top. They know how to get a deal going and quickly as well. They have already made up a contract on each player they want😂just so things go along as fast as possible ❤

I'm genuinely excited by this transfer window so far, proper business being done! I think we'll go for De Ligt if we sell Lindelof or Maguire, or if we fail to get another target. Due to PSR United and INEOS have to be clever with who they buy and when - this is an amazing defensive reinforcement, and we've bought an attacker who could be doing well for us for years, I think they'll now look at midfield and see how much cash is left then go for De Ligt as we know where he wants to go if he leaves Bayern. Looks like we might be giving being an actually serious club a go again ;)

One bad season out with an injury doesnt mean you are injury prone. Many players have had one or two seasons out with an issue. De Ligt is definitely coming coz Lindelof is on the way out

Would be a huge mistake not to go for DeLigt as well. Relying heavily on an 18 year old to be an ever present from the jump across a full season is wild. Fully in on Yoro but it’s a huge ask. Plus letting Kambwala go, losing Varane and potentially Lindelof, you surely need more bodies!

As a Real Madrid fan I am not upset. Atleast he is going to United and not Liverpool or PSG. Hopefully we can buy him in maybe five years time once he becomes a superstar.
