SEE OTHER LEO DOCOS IN MY LEONARDO PLAYLIST........Leo talks to ET's Jann Carl about the movie "The Beach" and about the possibility playing Anikin Skywalker!
I love the Beach! & every other movie Leo has been in. DiCaprio has been my favorite actor since I saw him in The Basketball Diaries. My wife & I always watch Leo's movies. He's still going strong today & I hope he keeps going for many years to come!
Year 2000 was just a beatiful time.. Going to college, away from home. Ushering the new millenium.. songs were better, movies and TV shows were better. Dawn of the modern cellphone and internet age. There was so much room for introspection. Not to say that everything about it was positive, of course 9/11 happened and the Iraq war. But speaking for myself as a guy in my late teens back then and in my early 30s now, early 2000 was a great time to be young and this movie captured all of it for me.
love rewatching all these old interviews. I love the film, the book, the song 'pure shores' and the soundtrack attached to it. All these still stay with me 20 years later.
The Beach holds a very mysterious but sacred spot for some of us. Maybe its the whole travel thing, looking for paradise in the tropics, looking for our Francoise, out utopian community, our own island. Its like a basic human dream right? The latter part of the movie is personally too dark and intense, but generally its a classic in my books.
Domzdream I wouldn’t say one one greatest , 3rd part of the film was very boring and inconsistent at times. The movie I still think is highly Underrated tho and not a bad film just not one of the greatest.
@Tokyo Drift So... I can't express my own opinion? Umm? I don't remember there was a sign around the world saying you can't express what you think of something. You are the one who shouldn't have made the comment because it literally didn't add nothing too this conversation, all you do is trying to start a random stupid fight with somebody through RU-vid, get a fucking life.
I think most of us know the harsh reality of returning to our routine lives after a phenomenal vacation. I call them the post vacation blues. This movie shows the ultimate post vacation blues. The interesting thing is how he quotes he still believes in paradise and that he knows now that it’s not some place you find but being part of something special and once you find it, it lasts forever. Look at the movie Cast Away. Beautiful tropical island. All alone and it was hell. Tried to commit suicide. Goes to show that paradise is a perfect combination of natural beauty and being with the right select people. All the stars have to align.
He only really did this movie because he got paid $20million for it based on the success of Titanic. And he wanted to get away to Thailand. But he's better than this movie. Thank God he's given so many great performances over the past couple years like The Aviator, Shutter Island, Inception, Django Unchained, The Wolf of Wall Street, Blood Diamond, The Departed, etc. etc. and he's making his movies now that he's actually passionate about.
He did the movie because he was interested in the subject and wanted to work with Danny Boyle. he would have been paid 20 million regardless of what movie he made. He's always made movies he cares about. Just because you don't like them does not make them bad.
Well yes he was passionate about this movie but come on, this movie wasn't good. It's beneath his talent. Everyone knows this movie wasn't good! Not just me. But every great actor makes the occasional bad movie and even Leo said himself that sometimes he makes movies with great intentions and the audience doesn't like it. Have you even seen this movie? It's just terrible! A lapse in judgemnment tbh.
Everyone has there own opinion on what a good movie is. The great thing about Leonardo DiCaprio is that there are so many good movies of his that if we could argue all day of which of his movies are the best. No, everyone does not know that this movie is no good and Leo himself is fond of it. (See SAG interview) You sound like a brat when you talk about this movie being terrible, a lapse in judgement etc. I feel the same way about the Quick and the Dead, Man in the Iron Mask, Romeo and Juliet, but I accept other peoples opinions so grow the fuck up
Actually he filmed this movie in summer 1997 (although the movie was released in 2000), before Titanic was ever released (Titanic premiered in December 97). So there was no "after Titanic" factor that drew him to this movie.
A jellyfish sting you need vinegar( take packets of vinegar) ( & don’t ignore the purple flag ) and it’s better to abandon ship, if it going down ~ a captain never abandons ship is more a statement about Marriage! lol ~ good movie but the dealers totally would have killed every one of them ~ 🤷🏻♀️
Great Film 🎥. I read some of these ridiculous IMDb reviews and they sad. I think it’s an outlet for the pretentious movie critic wannabes who actually believe anyone actually cares what they think. One thing I do know, everyone of theses idiots have never created anything in their stupid lives. Not a single thing. It’s laughable 😃
its still great and stunning. Still preserved, not like its full of buildings and littered with trash - just the impacts on the corals from boats. Why not let humans enjoy one of the most beautiful spots on earth.
