I have a Leo Asc.Pluti and Venus in Leo in my 12th house as well as some asteroids. Then I have Saturn at 38 degrees Leo in my first house As you might imagine, I am a performer!
Leo in Mercury in the 3rd (square Scorpio moon). Leo is the fixed guiding light of the sun. It is the awareness of the 'will to be'(alive) within us. The heat that provides life to the solar system, and the homeostatic heat of the body that provides energy to warm our blood through the furnace in our bellies. The sun is the 'path giver' to all things, Leo its leader.
I have Sun conjunct Uranus in Leo. My 5th house (by Placidus) is empty; I also have Mercury conjunct Pluto in Virgo in the same (8th) house, but idk if that's significant. It probably means I should write a book about death....
most of the Leos I have significant relationships with in my life, and these include siblings, good friends, my own child, significant ex partners, and bosses, - are constantly battling the deep inner fight with self-doubt. They are fiercely battling their own perfectionism, and the deep inner doubt that they are worth of the king position that hey are after, feel they are apt for, or have already attained. I admire that battle, but I am afraid no one is addressing this as a real shadow of Leo. The shadow is not grandiosity, in my opinion, it is deep self-doubt, driven by striving to perfection defined by own inner personal judge, or own inner divine authority, with which they are born, as a sort of a talent. They are very, very busy battling self-doubt. And constantly working practically, and skillfully, on surpassing their own current selves, admitting their mistakes honestly, and responsibly at rare quiet wise moments, working on correcting and improving themselves. And this shadow is making them magnificent in my view. Their shadow is working for themselves. But it is a sort of an inner torture, never seen by the lights of the stage, or anyone else whom they do not see as an aid, in this divine process of spiritual perfecting of themselves. Jason Holley described this journey relatively successfully in the seminar on Hercules Tasks, which reflect the Leo's never-ending journey on becoming a human. On the level that gods indented humans to become, as close to the gods as possible, in human flash. Vanity is certainly an obstacle, but not just vanity, It is also self-doubt as well, Saturn's territory, which Leos can not approach consciously.. My point is, it is a never-ending process and journey of becoming a Leo. The further you go, and the stronger you shine your inner light out, the more temptations the superficial ego will be faced with, tempting one to drag them down to profanity. This is why Leos are real. They constantly do the real inner battles. And usually win.
I have my mars & venus in leo and I approve this message. Sometimes ppl talk to me and I can tell they are thinking - why is he so unhinged? That’s because im just overcame and burst through yet another inner battle baby!
I disagree. Maybe my family is an oddity, but i am Leo and was raises by 2 Leos ( only child), but OVERCOMING this self-doubt is out STRENGTH and we COURAGEously do so. Self-doubt is the human 3D condition/struggle. My parents taught me ' you can do ANYTHING!' - with heart💛
As a Leo rising with my sun in Pisces (also my 8th house), I feel this very strongly. (Also Leo moon, Pisces Venus, plus Mars and Saturn conjunct in Aquarius). I often question whether what I'm doing is really aligned with who I am/ what I'm meant to be doing, and rarely come to a firm answer.
You guys mentioned loyalty… I think Leos can also be constant in love (to use an old fashioned term). Almost like Taurus, once the start caring for someone they don’t easily have a change of heart, but can be one of those people who goes on loving someone for years, or their whole life. Kind of the stuff of pop songs and epic novels.

I really enjoyed this episode. Jo and Nick are excellent guests filled with intelligence and humor. I have a not so serious quibble with the idea of Leo being all light and attention seeking. For me with a Leo sun in the 12th and with Pluto in First house -I love black and wear it 95% of the time. Maybe it's my Virgo rising but I like being behind the scenes better than being the head of anything. I can fake it for a little while but it is exhausting and generally I like my cave ( my lion's den). On a more global Leo note, a fashion episode would honor the two most style impacting Leo's of the 20th century. Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent and both have dark sides that can illuminate the dark spot in the face of the Sun. One last thing, an art episode would be lovely too-David is an excellent Leo example from the 18th century but MARCEL DUCHAMP (another not loving the spotlight Leo), the "father" of conceptual art is crucial to 20th century art. Conceptual art is very intellectual and we are still unraveling Duchamp's legacy.
I have Leo Sun (though in 12th house), Leo Rising (but so very close to Virgo Rising). So how much of a Leo AM I? I've got Capricorn Moon in 5th house. I'm a HORRIBLY FRUSTRATED Leo as I don'tsee myself as a leader and 'out there'. 😄 However, Uranus and Mercury conjunct my Leo Sun in the 12th house, Im a quiet rebel and use my power of words in writing. So that's where I am a leader. I think my fun is way more serious! Wish I was lighter, liked silly things, even a little.
seconding this as an introverted, goth Leo rising, moon and mars person with more than one Leo sun goth/emo/dark leaning friends who are all introverts as well, there's certainly a dark and heavy side to Leo, particularly when combined with Scorpio and/or Aqua placements, and/or with Virgo risings. I see it as the particular circumstances of these birth charts exalting this side of Leo and giving it a character that has little to do with the widespread "bright theatre kid" stereotype.

I recently found out my actual birthtime is a couple hours before i thought, meaning My Leo Rising turned into a Cancer rising, and i now have a night chart. It was an emotional blow, but it makes so much more sense to me. I have a Leo sun, Virgo Moon, Cancer rising, Venus and Jupiter in Leo, Mercury in Virgo and Mars in Taurus. love this part with Chris at minute 9. Really important language breaking down the fixed nature of Leo. What permanence can 'time' provide for Leo...maybe, simply that the sun is the 'path giver' to all things in its sphere of influence / our solar system. All things orbit something larger then them, physically and within ourself and thoughts in the abstract realm, Leo is an active container for this field matrix that ennobles (with Jupiter/Sag) transformation through its projective modality for all the other elements :)

About fixed signs and fixed identity, ego: I´ve felt for a long time that Aquarius seeks their identity, Taurus is focus building their ego, Leo enjoys being themselves (the peak of ego), and scorpio is obsessed of killing their ego. Different perspectives, but all "obsessed" of themselves in some way.
I’m a Leo with a Virgo stellium, so it’s very easy for me to keep myself in check and remain humble. Also definitely not extroverted but can make myself appear as such when necessary.
Decent podcast, as Leo sun (3:18 am), Venus, in second house with Mercury and Pluto in third, with cancer rising and Uranus in the first, while aware of physical presence and for sure a lover of style, it’s never been a primary focus, this Leo is much more about loyalty and authenticity, something that can seem painfully lacking in observing Aquarius, Gem or Sag friends/counterparts who seem to have less to offer in terms of loyalty and depth. For me, its all about the self realization and actualization…half of me a mirror and half window. Thank you Jo.
LOVED this episode, really helped me in my understanding of my Leo spouse and mother. I'm a Gemini Sun and can definitely attest to the element of play being important for both signs... my husband Nicholas and I don't have a ton in common but we both love to play video games, board games, and tabletop games. Meanwhile, I learned my love of gaming from my Leo mom. When my partner was young, he known in school as "secret agent man" because he used to walk around in a blazer and sunglasses and I never thought about it til this episode but that velvet-crushed blazer had a purple lining on the inside! Talk about acting like royalty. I feel like crushed velvet is a Leo thing, too, because my mother also loves it. And there is no one I've ever known who has a more fixed sense of selfhood than my husband; as a super-flexible 0 degree Gemini Sun, I've always found it both perplexing and attractive. When he makes up his mind about something, I know there's no changing his mind. As a Leo, self-expression and bringing that which is "in" my heart, "out," is important. Though, growing up, I withheld this expression and individuation. I feel they compliment each other well, he’s a very optimistic person always wanting to end things on a good note no matter who he’s with. My father was a Leo; two of my sisters and I are, and one of the above sisters married a Leo. One of our nephews was born on my oldest sister's birthday, and the other Leo sister has a grandson born on my birthday; I was born the day before she turned 6. She forbade me to be born on her birthday because "she didn't want to share her cake," so, fortunately for me, I got here one day ahead.

Scorpio is represented by the Scorpion, the Eagle (or Phoenix) and finally the Dove after it's final evolutionary transformation. I was just agreeing with Chris that Scorpio is the best sign (in our opinion) which obviously we all think our signs are the best sign. Leo comes in a close second to me. This is more in a joking manner, since we all encompass all 12 signs and the archetypes of all 12 signs. Ultimately, I am just trying to balance all of the energies into one integrated whole self. I will use my Leo when I need to and I will use my Scorpio when I need to, just as I will use the energies of my other signs, houses, and planets when needed. I recently discovered my favorite example of strong Leo placements after I finished The Spy by Paulo Coelho, a fictional recount of Mata Hari, an dutch exotic dancer who became renowned in pre-WW1 France before she eventually was arrested for being a double agent German Spy. She had the Sun, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, and the MC in Leo in the 10th House. Her Uranus and Mars shows in how she rose to fame through adopting an exotic style of dancing that wasn’t particularly new or innovative, but just the way she executed it made her catch the attention of the Parians. Her Sun and Mercury gave her a charm and alluring persona that allowed her to get into the circles of high profile people and get into some of the best theaters throughout Europe. Her Leo placements square her Jupiter in Scorpio in the 1st house, which represented how even though she had a high profile reputation and public image for being a performer, it didn’t help her case when the trial overinflated the skewed accusations of her involvement as a Spy.
Bonfires are fun, and they bring people together. The bonfire is the center of attention, and people keep feeding it. The potential for a bonfire for a lot of people to enjoy themselves together makes me think of the Aquarius-Leo opposition in a good sense.

Fun show! I think one example of a celebrity Leo/Sag would be Freddie Mercury. I'm absolutely convinced that his ascendant is on Regulus. Freddie, singer of Queen, with his favourite band mates both Leo Suns, a hopeless romantic who held audiences in the palm of his hand with his charisma, talent and charm, wore regal robes with a crown on stage, strutted around in over the top fashion, wrote 'we are the champions', was an excellent artist drawing lions and a crown as the main feature of the astrological band logo, held legendary wild parties, pranced around like a peacock being a loveable playful childlike diva, lavishing Cartier gold watches on his lovers and friends, yearning for that one magical knight in shining armour love, with a kingly house that looked a golden palace inside with expensive and gaudy decoration. That man ain't no Virgo rising. Freddie had a Sag Moon too. 🔥

Cap rising with a Leo stellium (sun, Venus, Mars) in the eighth house and a Scorpio moon, so I was especially interested in the discussion comparing Leo and those two other signs-very different energies, but the role of control is big across the board. This sorta came up with Leo's hype-man energy (and feels related to the discussion of play), but something I think about is Leo as an avatar of the sun, its role as a gravitational center but also its need/desire to have other planets (people) orbiting it and to which it can radiate outwards. My Leo placements feel nourished when I bring people together and when I can use my own expressiveness to invite others to step into theirs. In my case that might also be the eighth house at play, but I think it's one of the things that characterizes Leo's leadership style at its best.

Fashion is very cyclical and I am sure the changes in trends and styles coincide with astrological events. Leo rising conjunct Jupiter. Keywords/phrases that come to mind are magnanimous, steadfast, open/transparent, self centered/focused, know-it-all, arrogant, and stealing the show. I know that I have to make a conscious effort to give other people the chance to talk and to be the center of attention, however it’s made less uncomfortable because I love to encourage other people and build them up. One of the best compliments I ever got was from one of my little sisters. She said “when you’re around, everything seems more possible and more fun” 😊☀️ Since I’ve got the sun conjunct saturn in Capricorn I don’t always feel it myself.

Hi! I was told by Astrologer, Frank Clifford that with Leo being in the 8th it has a hard time “acting” Leo as the 8th house is a labyrinth of sorts. Made sense to me cause my moon and mars is in the 8th and when I learned I had those placements I was shocked cause I never feel like a Leo as a Capricorn rising and Virgo sun.

With the mention of Frida Kahlo, one thing that is really interesting is she was a big part of the surrealist movement which focused on dreams and that’s very cancerian. Some other artists that come to mind with strong Leo placements, are Andy Warhol (sun, ascendant, Venus, and Neptune in Leo) and potentially Albrecht Durer (his birth time is written at 11am but it’s very rare for people to be born right on the dot of 11 am, so he could potentially be a Leo rising). Both of these artists made many self portraits. Durer was one of the first “celebrities” and was quite controversial because he painted himself in a front facing view which was reserved for religious imagery of Jesus at the time. Much of Warhol’s art deals with fame, celebrity, and performers. This episode is really interesting and I always love listening to the podcast! I forgot to add that Durer was known for his golden long hair and he actually cut off a piece to be saved and this piece still exists today.

I just listened to the Virgo vs. Leo part of the podcast, and I sort of wonder if my being a late sign Leo (29 degrees) has allowed more of Virgo to mix into my self-expression. While authenticity and self-understanding are significant to me, I don't relate to the inherent confidence or charisma of Leo; but I am very critical, and "analysis paralysis" is something I experience regularly. That being said, I do have a stellium in Leo, so maybe I'll grow into more of my Leo traits as I experience more of life. Thank you for sharing these videos, they are so helpful!

I am Leo rising with the Sun in Capricorn, and I have to admit, Leo traits are so much seen through me. Knowing the rationale behind the rising sign, I identify with it the most. I was born during the eclipse, and my both Sun and Moon are opposite each other, conjunct the nodes in 6th and 12th house, that's why the Ascendant comes dominant to me.

As a Leo rising conjunct my Leo moon, and being an Aquarius sun, that Leo/Aquarius axis is very strong for me and I identified with Chris when you mentioned you attract Leo risings, I seem to attract Aquarius risings, as well as Aquarius moons. It’s definitely a struggle at times for me balancing that opposite energy though of the Leo rising and moon, and the Aquarius sun in my 7th house. My Aries mars probably doesn’t help because I struggle with having patience! 🤣
This episode was great and informative but also a little grating for me... Leo is my 12th house and the energy can be so overbearing/whelming... definitely working through the triggers. Looking forward to Virgo!

Interesting and great podcast. I’m a night chart and the only planet above the horizon is my Leo moon in the 11th. My entire chart is pretty much flipped.
late to the party here - just past my solar return - fourth-house sun conjunct pluto, opposing transiting saturn & squaring the nodes/uranus ... it's been an 'interesting' month, especially on the full moon when the grand cross was balancing on the stellium (mercury is in my third house)
also, along with being a night chart- with a natal aquarius moon in a t-square with mercury and sixth-house saturn, and uranus conjunct jupiter in another t-square with neptune and chiron, i haven't ever really identified as a leo ... in fact, the whole 'identity perception of self' has been that of continual transformation and transmutation, such that the transitory nature of the relationship between self and not-self, i&I, physical and non-physical has all just blurred into a spectrum where even the planets and zodiac have become constellations of flavors and textures and symphonies that show only passing resemblance to the stories humans have created around what we have seen in the heavens.
it was so hard for the guests to speak on the negative traits of leo. i noticed when the host kept trying to talk about the negative aspects, the guests always went back to the “positives”. which probably attests to leo’s positive energy. there’s a guy at my work who is a leo and i swear he can turn anyone’s day around for the better. he’s very playful. it makes me wonder if leo’s are truly that positive or if they don’t like when people (and themselves) are sad. aries and sag are a lot like this too i’ve noticed.
