You may have the most complete and professional assessment / review of a 🎸 on RU-vid... 💯 I bought a Leo Jamyz sparkle paint "Tele" two years ago... for about $160 on Amazon... it was a great looking guitar... Alnico pick-ups... trouble was the neck had the truss rod cranked all the way down... and it was not a two way adjustable rod... I was disappointed to say the least... I've been hesitant to even consider ever getting a LJ 🎸 since then, even though I have seen videos showing the company's improvements... I'm not in the market for a new 🎸, but would consider a LJ now for an inexpensive player.

Nice guitar for the price really, considering the materials they used compare to the others in that price range on the other hand your doing an awesome job on pointing out the good and the bad thank you for your work.
Well I watched the whole video as always. And now it kinda makes me happy that I got the Version 1 Monsoon. I really did not like that neck issue you brought up. Yea a shim can fix it, but this should never left the factory that way in my opinion. I admit that is a beautiful burl finish tho. And you didn't bring it up but I heard that the neck is thinner than the version 1. I would like that better as I do feel the neck on mine is still a tad bit too thick. I've always preferred a very thin neck. Leo Jaymz is doing a rockin Job tho. It seems he is listening to RU-vidrs and trying to make improvements. That's more than some companies are doing. I think he has a really good future if he keeps it up. The Monsoon truly is a Beast of a guitar and an Amazing Value in my opinion.
Another job well done. Thx. I definitely want one, but I think I can wait for them to get the issues straight. I am NOT a Luthier, and my fixes would probably be disasters. My opinion. Fix them, charge a little more, ie. for better tuners, etc. Those drill holes. I'm afraid to buy one now. He is right. You fix the CNC settings once, and you do not have continuing issues nor the costs of trying to fix them. No shimming. No chiseling. Love the design and aesthetics. I'm pretty sure he said there is a new model coming. Hurricane! I want to see that. And the review.
Leo Jaymz is sending Pre-Production guitars to the wrong people...... If he wants his products to be better, you have to have people that understand production / CAD / CAM / PLC all the steps in production to look at the product... and you have to have people that play guitar to play them and give input on playability. Then review costs vs mark before production. Unless something changes..... I will not be reviewing another Leo Jaymz product this year. If a viewer wants to send one to me for review and mod... Then OK... I'll do the review make the mods he wants and then send the guitar to him. I have promoted the company enough at this point. It is on them to send a product to me next time ..... We will see what happens, I feel my reviews are as open as they can be. An Honest review of the product. Thanks for joining in on the topic and commenting !

I got the green burl one and i had to level a few frets but i love that thing and the tuners on mine do stay in tune pretty well. it sounds great and is very light so it does not hurt my shoulder like most of my other guitars.
It is on the lightweight side of guitars...That is nice if you're doing set list after set list.... The tuners are the big thing I see with this guitar.... A good set of locking tuners for QUICK string changes....and work smoothly with a ratio that lets you fine tune. But I have liked both Monsoons that I have played.... Just waiting for them to fix a few more problems before I do one up as a go to bar guitar!
Thank you for the great review. Since I don't own any guitars with active pickups, I decided to go with the Tempest instead. Ordered it directly from Leo Jaymz as it's $80 less than Amazon (in exchange for much slower shipping). Hope it's not a turd!

I'm liking the Egnater....more and more.. every time I play it. It has the BEST CLEAN TONES ! The high gain channel is also impressive ! The Epiphone 335 DOT.... Ya.. wow what a find ! ! ! ! ! ! ! So lucky I ran across it... It's almost mint at 18 years old! Some light wear ... But overall, it is in really good shape! It's been played.... Now is the time where it will start sounding better and better with age! No idea where the VHT came from . . . . 🙄😂 Some Master Amp Tech Guy . . . . That rebuilds Rack mount tube sweeteners from 35 years ago.... Still working on getting the VHT to give me a sound... Need to spend some time with it and play around.....I'm thinking a 6V6 tube change.
Love the reviews as always. Big ask from me but I would love to see how “higher” end guitars compare and check out. Fender strat vs squier strat would be cool. I’d also love to see a schecter c-1 platinum review which is a super popular guitar. Fantastic as always.
Just did an Epiphone Alex Lifeson .... Upcoming on the higher end stuff... Fender FMT Kramer Nightswan I can ask my local music store if they have a C-1 Platinum that I can review.... They are a smaller store not sure how they will respond. I have a new Schecter SVSS sitting here... It's been for sale and is just not moving... Order it for the review... thought it would be easy to resale... I don't think Sweetwater would send me one..... I'll ask my local shop...
@@DominionFretWorks yeah you could strike them a deal to do a free setup on the guitars for them. I am more looking for a head to head with “higher” end model to the “lower” end models to see if the price is justified. Just an idea for content. I know as a potential buyer I am always looking for reviews before purchasing and you could fall into the algorithm more doing something like that. Comparison videos are huge.
@@macgnf9061 I understand..... There are pit falls that we... Guitar Players fall into. There is also how the market works... An Upgraded Budget guitar just has no resale valve..... A name band will always have the resale valve... I should really do a LIVE SHOW on this topic...... I have a Firefly FFMN that has been reworked 100% there is nothing stock on the guitar... I have videos on all the work that was put into that guitar.... it play 100% better than an EVH or a Peavey HP2 or the MN Axis.... The custom bridge I built is 200% better than even the G-FR bridge. THAT GUITAR HAS BEEN FOR SALE FOR 600.00 dollars and has not sold.... I have just in parts and the guitar 550.00 in it. and about 36 hrs PLUS labor.... So, my work is only worth 1.25 per hr ??? It comes down to the NAME on the head stock and the market.... You can always buy and upgrade a guitar to any level.... as long as the work is done right. The problems comes in as the guitars valve after being finish. If firefly made their guitars without the ball end frets... They would be a better upgrading instrument. Ball end fret are cool...but have their problems... As far as manufacturing... and playing.. Hard to manufacture... and do right Strings can get hung-up under the fret... We really need to do a LIVE SHOW on this topic.... No days ... I think you can buy a great guitar for 1000.00 dollars. without doing anything to it... I also think you can build one from a budget guitar for 550 to 600 if you choose the right one. I have reviewed 2 Leo Jaymz Monsoons.... Both had bad fret work and problems... but with all the problems....both played fine and made you want to play it..... Dunno.. I have also reviewed guitars that were 100% great fit and finish ... WORK WAS 100% great fret work ... setup work 100%.. But the guitar was LIFELESS ! ! ! ! I want to do more reviews and compare products... I do... it comes down to having the money to buy the guitar... and then be able to resale it. Most companies are not going to send me a guitar to review... This is not a DEMO channel... and not the RU-vid typical review channel. RU-vid pays very little .... even my best video to date has not even come close to paying for the guitar.... This becomes the problem for anyone wanting do REAL REVIEWS. Any help in this mattrer is welcome here... I would like to find a way to make it happen... If that means all my SUBS send E-mails to Sweetwater and say .... Send this man a guitar to review ! ! ! ! ! ... I do the review and send it back to them. Let me know what ya think .....

As always a great in depth review I skipped around a bit though . Side note I dont think I have ever seen anyone hold the pick the way you do is there a reason you hold it with thumb and middle finger{ just curious } Happy 4th too ya
It was a trick shown to me by a guitar player FAR better than me 30+ years ago... It will allow you to tuck the pick quicker between your middle finger and palm for pointer finger tapping. also allows your thumb and pointer finger to do finger picking and still hold the pick.. This I never really got good at ... LOL I was shown this early on in my playing.... and have just adapted it to my playing ... OR my playing has adapted to this way or holding the pick. @DominionFretWorks a lot of working, trying to stay cool and exercising the ffst. I went over it and other than a lil neck adjustment, truss rod, it's great. I put 9s on it, set it up, did a bit of tweaking to claw tension, and she pretty much stays in tune no matter what I throw at her. A tad flat if I dip the bar like crazy, but not enough for me to worry about. How's things been with you?

@DominionFretWorks glad all is going well in your re recovery. Also, I had 1 fret that barely rocked, not enough to worry about. I'm still looking for a deal on tube amp, working with what I have. Using headphones with Boss GT-1 and it surely packs a punch. I'm still trying to master it, but the array of tones it produces is outstanding. Killer deal for $80 for sure. I found a video setting up the tremolo to thirds, and it makes a huge difference staying in tune(ish). It reduces the spring tension on the low e side so the claw sits on an angle.
Still looking for a TUBE AMP you say........Well ... I no longer support the Little Blackstar HT20 tube amp..... Mine has failed after only 2 years... The main board is non-serviceable... They want to replace the hole board.... 500.00 dollars to fix a 900.00 dollar tube amp. If you want a hand wired tube amp.... I have a VHT special 6 ultra head for sale right now! It's from Mike here on the channel. I got it from him been playing around with it. It's a hand wired amp so you can service it . . . LOL no boards... You will need a speaker cab as it's only a head. 200.00 plus shipping. Look on RU-vid for videos on the VHT Special 6 Ultra head... They also made a combo. if that doesn't work for ya .... Look around for a Egnater Combo tube amp.... should be able to find a good one for around 400-500 bucks. GREAT AMPS as well ! I also have a Boss Katana 50 MK2 for sale.... it's not tube but still sounds good...175.00 plus shipping I have not played with the Boss GT-1 ... not sure what that is ...
The Tempest I bought a while back is the worst quality guitar I have out of 15 guitars in the price range.. I was sent the wrong guitar first off. The shipping bag was cheap and offered no protection from damage. The paint is a bit wavy. But the worst part and one I cannot fix is: Looking down the sides of the fretboard it weaves in and out. In other words the High and low E strings end up closer to the edges of the fretboard at some points and farther away in others.. Horrible. Won't chance another purchase with them
Are the frets waving down the neck ???? Ball ended fret guitars have this problem in most cases.... and also, if not set right the High E string will get under the end nose of the fret. Just like what happened in the HIGH GAIN DEMO of this guitar... It happened in this video... proof it happens! I have seen the ball end frets set right from companies.... But only seen 3 or 4 that were 100% right out of maybe plus 75 guitars. My first review of a guitar from this company didn't even make it to the DEMO .... I stopped the video and just posted the problems. They have gotten better from what I have seen in my 5 reviews of instruments from them. But they still have some things witch I feel need to be addressed before I can say ..... I would play one out and travel with the guitar. Thanks for posting your thoughts on the products you have received from this company. This helps others make an informed decision on whether or not to buy one..
@@DominionFretWorks With mine it is the actual fretboard that is wavy and therefore the frets don't even line up from one end to the other.. I also forgot to mention the neck is NOT mounted straight. At the body end of the fretboard on the Low E there is about 4mm from the edge to the string. On the High E side there is about 1.5mm to the edge. It's really not playable. I'll probably part it out at some point.
@@danfitzpatrick4112 The guitar in this video had a BAD set on the neck to body as well.... When I reinstalled the neck... I installed the Low E and High E only .... With just enough tension so the strings were not sagging. I only had the neck screws lightly tightened.... I was able to move the base of the neck in the pocket to get the strings to align with the neck right... Thier is a little adjustment in the pocket to fix this in most cases..... If this doesn't work...... Then the bridge is miss set.... This will be the last Leo Jaymz Guitar for review.... this year. Unless the reach out to me to do a review. Witch I don't see that happening. OR A viewer sends me a Leo Jaymz to review and setup for them.
This video . . . . I was pushing how I did the zooms and fade ins... My computer just jumps .... This is as far as I can go with the computer system I have. There is one really bad one in final thoughts where it jumps and then re-syncs. Working on a repair video now and having some sync problems..... I think for the video to go where I want it.... I will need better cameras... So, I will have to learn to live with the old QC from the video before this one. My next big check from SCREWTUBE I can buy a lens cover ...... Maybe.....for the camera I need... LOL gotta start somewhere...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanks my Freind..
Well ... Small companies like Leo Jaymz really don't have funds to do what Fender ... Gibson... LTD .... you get the point.. Big bands have funds to push their products. So smaller companies find RU-vid channels to push their product in exchange for the product. Of course, you will get a 1099 from them at full retail mark... which is higher than the asking price. It's a write off for them... at full mark. This happens a lot with sub-bands. AND RU-vid channels like getting the products so sometimes the video is squeed. Not saying this happens with every channel. But you can tell who is reviewing the product and who is not. I hope that companies see my videos and understand the service that I provide is far better than a DEMO video just saying it's great. I have played some of these Budget Friendly Guitars that have just blown my mind. There are JEMS out there for those willing to do a little work on the instrument. But I have yet to review a SUB 300.00 guitar that didn't really need something to make it a GIGABLE Guitar. Most of the time it's tuners.... Pickups... or both. Thanks for commenting!
