That's for sure yeah I don't know how many times when I was growing up as a kid that I had skated at the skating rink to this music I couldn't skate very well but I still skated
@sweetangiegirl1 In an interview I've seen with Leo Sayer that's one of the lines that he's most proud of. He said that line alone said more about his time away from home than anything else that he's ever written.
A truly talented & gifted singer, some of his other great songs are, Orchid Road, Have You Ever Been In Love, Once In A While, so many others. God bless brother from Australia.
My parents loved Leo, they saw him many times in concert in the 70's/80's. We lost mum nearly six years ago and dad nearly four years ago. This brings back lovely memories of them dancing together. Thank you for posting this as a reaction Ty.
I grew up listening to music from the 70s. But, I must confess, I was really shocked when I saw the performers. You know when they did those CD commercials on TV and the show the singers? That's how I stumbled upon the "looks". I couldn't belief such beautiful music came from some of the outlandishly dressed performers.
This is the first song of his I remember ever hearing, from him. I remember being a kid in the 70s and my father was in the military and every time we went to a new base an assignment we drove. His music would come on the radio on a regular basis throughout the 70s and early 80s. And this song in particular was very hunting to me.
Leo Sayer has a very fun song called Long Tall Glasses. I am a cancer patient. I had to stop chemo because of some pretty bad side effects. I developed something called Peripheral Neuropathy which affects the nerves in my spinal cord. I have to use a walker because of it. One night, I was listening to Long Tall Glasses and I got up to get something in the kitchen. My feet started dancing before I knew what was happening. I fell and sat in the floor laughing at myself.
just had to comment. this song brought back so many memories. i am 73 yo, and remember dancing and romancing to this song, sax was so sexy. thanks for the memory
This Guy lived Elvis Man and Elvis got to hear him and liked him also. They were suppose to meet or Leo was suppose to come to Graceland or something or they talked on the phone I can't remember. But there's an interview with Leo talking about it and he was a huge Elvis Fan just like every Act from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, Shit into today 2010s-2019. The whole Hip Hop of the 80s and 90s with the Cadillacs and Jewelry LOL. That was Elvis Presley 40 Year's earlier. So Elvis and Rock was the Hip - Hop of the 1950s when they tried to put a stop to him. I told you Elvis was a head of his time in everything. All bow and hail to the King Elvis Son. TCB
Leo Sayer - you make me feel like dancing and more than I can say are two songs that I remember as a kid as being really good too, I remember it as a kid from the 70's and early 80's!
In the 50s 60s and 70s songs had so much love and meaning in people's lives not like today's music nothing can take away the memories from people's hearts 💕💕💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️❤️
Leo Sayer - I Can't Stop Loving You, More Than I Can Say, One Man Band, How Much Love, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing. Leo is a very interesting guy. Not your average pop star. He is a singer, songwriter, who began his showbiz career as a Harliquin clown.
Good on you mate. From Australia I am Jude. Leo lives here and has for some time. I have seen him live and he certainly delivers. I love him and his music. Thanks for appreciating one of my legends. First concert was Roy Orbison at 12. I have eclectic tastes. The Eagles many times, Roy 4 times, Bruce many times, Metallica and Gunners. Plus Harry, Sam Smith, the awesome Hozier, 5 seconds of summer and yes, One Direction- twice. I have tickets for Gunners, Harry ( 3rd time ) and our Aussie boys 5 seconds. Love that you loved this massive song. I believe I can subscribe now mate. Cheers, Jude
Same here, Todd!! I was 11 when this came out...I used my babysitting money to go buy his album!! I'm also 52 now...definitely does bring back memories!!
OMG, did you guys used to wait, listening to the radio for the song you wanted, and then record it on some crappy portable tape deck with an external mic? I waited so long for Sweet's "Fox on the Run" because I had no money for the 45!
@@linkfromhyrule5504 I guess my idea of country is different, "Really love to see you tonight", "Sad to Belong to Someone Else", "Never have to say Goodbye", "What's Forever For" those are 80's slow groove songs to me, much like Leo Sayer's song.
Leo Sayer also wrote the song The Show Must Go On, which he also recorded and it hit like #2 in the UK. Later, in 1974...the group Three Dog Night recorded the song and ended up #4 on the charts in the USA. I would love to have you play Three Dog Night's version of The Show Must Go On.
England Dan and John Ford Cooley had a song called Love is the Answer and another called I'd Really Love To See You Tonight. Both songs are awesome! Thanks!
The last 2 yrs I was driving over the road I would send this song to my husband right around the 2 wk mark of my 6 wk trip. Now I'm retired and home with him every night
I started dating my feller back in 77 and this song was it. My man was in a band and gone hundreds of mile away from me. This song was it for us. Not to mention the his a very romantic song to slow dance to with candles burning and wine chilling. I married that my man, and was with him for 43 years and he's gone now. So to hear this breaks my heart.
I absolutely love that you are touching on late 70’s/early 80’s pop. It is my favorite era for music! You should check out Paul Davis Sweet Life or I Go Crazy and I’d Really Love to See You Tonight by England Dan and John Ford Coley. You will love it!
Oh my God Ty, Now that I'm 57 years old and I was a kid listening to this song I look back at him now and hes just a baby oh my God I had no idea when I was younger How much of a baby he was
We need to hear some old school R&B!!!! Gregory Abbott ''Shake You Down'', Isley, Jasper, Isley ''Caravan of Love'', Rose Royce ''I Wanna Get Next To You'', Freddie Jackson ''You Are My Lady'' or anything by Keith Sweat 😍😍 lololol
Leo had a really cool song called Long Tall Glasses which was the antithesis of this song. He also wrote the song The Show Must Go On that became a big hit for Three Dog Night.
I was editing a weekly newspaper in 1977 and covering a high school baseball game when I got the call that my father had died. I was living in Virginia and drove all night to get to Augusta, Ga., my home town. On the way I must have heard this song 10 times because it was a huge hit at the time. Also played over and over that night was "Hotel California." Both of those songs always remind me of my dad.
Remember when he dressed as a pierrot clown and it was a mystery as to what he really looked like, always had a fabulous voice..he is 70 now and still going strong, he's British but lives in Australia and has had all kinds of issues that he has successfully battled through..Loved Long tall glasses(I can dance)..ridiculous 70's video but great pipes :)
I love Leo Sayer's cover of The Beatles, Long and Winding Road. It was on a various artists complication album called , All This and World War II. I played that vinyl smooth. Apparently, it was the sound track for a WWII documentary done in the 70s.
I'm late to the party on this one. I didn't know you reacted to Leo Sayer. I remember this song well. It was a very popular slow-dance song. Popular on the radio as well. He had quite a few good hits. He had a nice smooth high-pitched voice. Always liked him. I'm pretty sure this came out when I was in high school in the late '70s, but can't remember exactly. That feels so long ago. :) There were so many good bands and singers that you forget about some of them. But when something pops up like this, it certainly takes you back to your youth (in you mind only, unfortunately). Oh, if I could go back and live those days over, knowing what I know now, things would have been drastically different!
I've always loved this song. It brings back memories of early childhood (I was born in '77), hearing this in the car. My mom had an old Pinto that only had AM radio.
Oh my! This was the song back in the day in high school parties and the lights got dimmed. And in came Sis. Mary Patrick and turn ALL the lights back on.
This song brings me back to a much simpler time in my life and the memories of when Donnie was the center of my universe. LOL, glad that time passed but I don't mind reminiscing.
