She offered him the wheel chair. He wasn’t over tired and asking for it. She needs to push him to do the walk home. The wheel chair is just ridiculous.

The mother clearly have some psychological problems, she's the one who's makimg him that way stuffing him with junk food and stoping him from being active. I hate that woman! She says it's genetics and she's right. It's her. She's giving him way too much food, blames it on genetics, gives him a wheel chair. Sure he does get exercise, but not enough!

She was practically FORCING him to eat more. He wasn't asking for a second snack she told him to eat it. It doesn't matter what kind of food you're giving him too much is too much. A five year old does NOT a need to be eating that much that frequently.

The way she kept saying “no”... “no”... to perfectly logical arguments thrown in her face made me want to fucking drop kick her. This poor child. I hope the UK version of CPS steps in and he’s able to go live with a relative that will give him proper nutrition, get him on an exercise plan, and keep him closely monitored by doctors and he gets to a healthy weight and can run around and just be a kid, away from his abusive mother.

This Mother is such a stubborn person. She is obviously feeding her son way to much.She is the problem, and her son will never lose weight if she doesn't listen to the professionals and take their advise instead of being so bloody minded.

She brings a wheelchair and keeps encouraging him to sit down. She states that she won't allow him to continue if he's winded. As a between-meals snack she gives him a banana, a slice of cake, 4 wheetabix with another banana, strawberries, and milk. That's the calories for an entire meal right there and that's JUST a snack. I don't care how healthy something is, it's still calories. Also, how the expletive is he going to learn when his body is hungry if she's constantly pushing food on him like a crack dealer pushes crack? At least wait until he asks for food...just doing that alone would help. I also haven't seen him drink any water. Then you feed him dinner and he's the only one at the table. Families should eat together if possible. His serving size for starches is also way off. The peas are actually reasonably calorific & the mash certainly is...especially if she's added milk or fat to it. There should always be a cup of water available as thirst can be mistaken by the body as hunger ...so you eat and then you still feel the same so you eat some more. The beverage with the meal is probably fruit juice when it should be water. SHE is a major part of the problem. What I don't understand is why the doctor isn't telling her to do a food/calorie diary for him so that she can see just how many calories she's feeding him.

This reminds me a little bit about my own diet and weight. When I was a kid. My mother fed me a lot of food. Big portions and also a little too often snacks and such. It was okay for me until second grade but I didn’t know better I was only a kid. I saw all my other classmates and how much more smaller they were than me. And I started questioning my mother why I was so much bigger than my friends, and she said it was “ my genetics”.. but it clearly wasn’t. My weight led to insecurity, self hate and people took advantage of it. Especially the bullies. Eventually this led to bulimia and depression. Which still hunts my body.. Please! Feed your kids proper food, in regulated portions!! This can make the future of your child much brighter in many ways!!

Oh wow, just the amount of denial is scary.... that dinner she gave him would be pressing up to big for even me and I'm almost 21, not 5!! and that was after those snacks. I feel so bad for Leon, but it's hard to sympathetic with his mother. Even when someone is offering her an answer and telling her that its far to much she cant face it. she acts like it's a personal attack on her and her mothering. There is nothing wrong with admitting you're overfeeding your child, as long as you move forward and make changes then that really only reflects well on your parenting.... but getting defensive and acting like you've never made a mistake as a parent does reflect poorly. Never put your pride over your child's health and life expectancy!!

Most conversations she has with him is her asking if he wants this food or that food. She feeds him so much! Doesn't matter how healthy the foods are, there is too much of it and so constantly she's feeding him like how can u be that thick as to not understand that logic and be so defensive, consider it and see what happens to his weight

Why didn't she let him walk all the way home? He seemed totally fine, he obviously wanted to run and play. Instead of doing a fucking puzzle take him to the park or a Chuck E Cheese and let him have fun. She's unbelievable. She should track his calories, not overfeed him healthy food.

He is freaking adorable. It's horrible what Leon's mother is teaching him-- to eat and sit. He will suffer if nothing changes. This is why I want to help obese children... I wished I had help when I was little and obese!

This kid- and so many more like him- is NOT going to be healthy until he gets away from his mom. It's clear that she's coddling him, and feeding him way too much food. He cries because he's learned that she can't stand it and will stuff his mouth to stop it. It's all a sign that she has a lot of anger and emotional troubles she has not dealt with. She needs HELP!! And she needs to break out of the denial. And WHERE'S HIS DAD?!? Absent, as usual. I feel bad for this boy.... Mom doesn't understand she is over feeding her baby

My family is like this, forcing food on me and asking me to rest even when I'm not tired. Whenever I go on a diet to try and loose the weight, they're asking me to go out to eat and won't leave me alone about eating junk food. I was over one hundred pounds overweight at 12. I'm taking charge now and I've already lost ten pounds in a couple of weeks and I don't play on stopping now! My goal is to have lost thirty pouds by next month! If anybody else is struggling with being overweight, don't give up

Bring this child to a village where children don't have tv and gadgets and where food is fresh. He'll soon be running with other chidren, playing outside, and have a taste for fresh food. If he's staying in that kind of disabling environment with his mom, then he'll grow bigger but won't get to grow old.

That's sad because he's so cute, but his parents need to TAKE CARE OF HIM. If this keeps up he won't only feel bad physically, but when he gets older and children start to talk about their bodies and notice differences, he may feel bad _emotionally._ Poor child, I hope he gets better.

He ate a chocolate cake, strawberries a banana. A full dinner enough for 4 five year olds. All in an hour. With a walk home in a wheelchair. She’s killing him. She has that disorder, where parents kill their kids for attention.

Ok... The mother and the grandmother are both overweight. So that tells me the child is overweight due to learned behavior, they are passing their eating habits on to him. The mother is also in SERIOUS denial! Probably because she cannot handle the idea that the child's weight might be her fault. She seems pretty narcissistic, she believes no matter what, she is right and everyone else is wrong. When there is very clearly a problem with the amount and types of food, anybody with half a brain can see there is a serious problem with what she feeds this child, but they ask her if she thinks she is doing anything wrong and she just sits there saying "No...No...No". Listen, lady... You CANNOT lose weight eating bananas, they are VERY high in sugar, they cause lots of belly fat to accumulate. Most dieters will not touch them, they have as much sugar as a friggin candy bar, ok? Then she is feeding him milk and cereal WITH that banana. Milk can be fattening on its own. Cereal is pretty fattening too, even if it is "fiber". Yeah, it may be fiber, but it is also PROCESSED CARBOHYDRATE. Most overweight people cannot lose weight until they cut processed carbohydrates OUT of their diet. A big blob of mushy peas? Um.... Peas may be a green vegetable, but they are still quite HIGH in sugar! That's why they are sweet. And the size of those portions... I'm a 36 year old woman and even I do not eat as much in one day as this child ate in 2 hours. The mother is just in denial. Total denial. Oh... And extremely uneducated about portions and nutrition. She is gonna KILL her child, just because she is too proud to admit she is wrong. Sad, really.

He should be letting her or himself know when. Also, saying "he's 5 not 18" as an excuse as to why he can't do more active actions is bull cause 5 year olds are more active than 18 year olds anyhow surely so kick the wheelchair to the curb. Ah yes. GENETICS IS AT FAULT. Genetics has given him the ability to absorb the energy around him equivalent to 5x the calorie intake of a normal Iron Man competitor. Couldn't have been the fried Twinkies diet. This genetic flaw has only begun to exist within the last 30 years, too...

This was me! 98 lbs at 5. It was from my narcissistic parents, their manipulation and my fathers terrifying presence. They also fed me fast food often and junk on purpose, to shut me up from crying because of the abuse. Being shouted at, cussed at, called names by your own parents will make a child run to food for comfort. They would terrorize my emotions inside the home but act like the loving family outside. I had no one to come to my rescue. Parents constantly arguing at each other and being told (mr brown is gonna come get you if you keep crying). A fake person to scare me. I was all alone emotionally. The older i got the more my father would whip the mess out me with hands, belts for anything i did wrong or that pissed him off! Food became my life. At my highest i was 340lb at 5’8 height! It has taken 35 years to realize how CPTSD caused my obesity in adulthood!
