I had gone to the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach to hear him sing. He was awesome. During intermission I snuck back behind the stage curtains and to my Surprise there he was sitting on the piano bench. I said Mr. Redbone can I have your autograph he said in his Growling Voice well of course Son what’s your name. I said Robert I gave him a blank check of mine because that’s all I had for him to sign. I treasure that autograph for many many many years had it framed but unfortunately I lost it in the camp fire in Paradise California in 2018. It was an honor to meet him to talk to him and to hear his music. Rest in peace . Like many others you will be missed.
Such an intuitive and gifted musician. I feel truly blessed to have had the honor of meeting him face to face before he retired, and to have had his music touch my life. Miss you, Mr. Redbone 💙
Leon never fails to get my feet tappin' and his spontaneous accompaniment of an instrument from his imagination to fill in the in-between spaces is true genius. Live performances, such as this, caught on videotape are a treasure to behold, left behind by an incredible musician that was one of a kind. Thank you Mr. Redbone, for sharing your gift.
I was lucky enough to see him play a number of times live! The first time I was right up next to the stage at Chan's in Pawtucket, RI. I got to sing Harvest Moon to him. A great thrill it was! RIP Leon!
Debbie, I'm from Glasgow Scotland and I loved Leon, I wished I could have seen him when he was with us, I'm glad you got the chance to see him...God .Bless you Lean so missed.
I so loved his music. I saw him at the Towne Crier in Pauling New York. He was and is a great musician and man. RIP, but please let his music always live on One of a kind. Greywolf Rednight
Hank Campbell, thanks for your comment....for Leon Redbone was an outstanding picker of the "guit-fiddle".....with a style unique unto himself.....as we have posted many of the greatest pickers of all time in our music section at our ImaSportsphile webpage.... including more Redbone videos.
Such a super entertainer. I never tire listening to Leon Redbones singing and playing his guitar.Appreciate the post. Can't wait to share this with my 17 year old granddaughter when she comes to spend her summer with us. She may be young but she has an old soul when it comes to good music She has down loaded much from the 30's through the 70's and doesn't mind dancing with her granny when we play them.Definitely has the rhythm. Will be looking for more. Thank you for this lovely post.
Margaret Steele, Yes she did. Thanks for asking. She’s actually living with me now along with her brother. They had lost their sweet little mommy and I’m thankful to know they both wanted to be with their granny, helps all three of us to cope. And we are still dancing.💃. 👫
slimycove, thanks for your comment....for I have a huge vintage music section already posted on my webpage at www.imasportsphile.com ....with so much more to come...so stay tuned.
