Leona has said that she sings the way she does because of Mariah Carey. Those transitions between fuller tone and and airy one midword are very Mariah. She doesn't have the range but she has that beautiful tone and the ability to interpret with her voice. She does not need gimmicks to move a crowd. She is also beautiful. But if you tell her that you're comparing her to Mariah she will be as pleased as one can be. She loves Mariah and as Mariah did she needs to change her label right now and relaunch her career before its too late
At long last you have taken notice of the beautiful and criminally underrated Leona, beautiful outside and in by the way. Her head voice, transitions and gorgeous, elegant tone are out of this world. Please watch some of her other performances, there are many remarkable ones. The First Time ever I saw your face at VH1 divas is INCREDIBLE, her cover of Run, her opera quality vocals on the live version of Ave Maria, Summertime on X factor, incredible versions of I have nothing and Somewhere over the rainbow; this girl has it all. I'm such a fan of Leona: I have all of her albums. It's such a shame her career went on such a backslide because I think Leona has such a good voice and is severely as well as wrongly underrated. Thanks for reacting to one of her videos. You're awesome. :)

She dueted with Calum Scott on his original song "You are the Reason" beautifully and it's now getting airtime in America. Calum is an up an coming artist with fantastic talent, one of the best voices around and he has an amazing ear, rarely is he off key and never does it sound wrong he is so good. Would love to see you react to that duet as well as Calum singing it solo. Both versions are amazing. But definitely react to "You are the Reason" Calum Scott and Leona Lewis, The Studio version is best as Leona is a little off on the live version I've seen, still great but not as flattering to her as the studio one.

Leona has had her own struggles but I still say she's one of the best out there. Its good to see her make a comeback and I'm praying she makes more music in the great states. Simon should've stuck with Leona as Manager and supported her music. I see why Leona gave him the boot. I would've too. Lol. I am a HUGE Leona fan and Agree with you 100%! You can totally tell she looks up to Mariah as an inspiration and all of her transitions in this song reminded me a lot of Mariah's Always be My Baby which is the epitome of vocal transitions. Leona actually sang that song when she was 19 of which theres a video on youtube somewhere.
Although she strains on the upper chest register, she has a very nice control of her voice and doesn't make songs too extra. Sort of like Lara Fabian in that sense.
Honestly when I first heard this song i was confused because i thought it was Mariah but i also thought it couldn't be because there's a difference in her voice. But either way i loved this song as soon as i heard it and was a fan when i found out she sang it.
