Are you still here, Mathy? I've love Leonard Cohen's music, voice and poetry almost 40 years. Of course, I have cancer, too, stage 4 non hodgkins. Would you like to talk?
When you're depressed..put on some Cohen. He'll assure you, he'll walk with you. And, you'll make it through. That's what Cohen does. Still does. The Master lives.
He's the greatest Poet of our times!!!!! I know I'm writing this under every song of this album, cause I feel bad that it's not as viral as the pop stupid songs are, but then I realize that he doesn't need all that recognition, he's music is beyond all that, it's eternal, it's from another world ))))
I have met many famous people in my life and I can tell you that Leonard Cohen was truly the most charismatic man I’ve ever met. There was something magical about him. He was humble, self-effacing, charming, and had a special aura about him. I am grateful I had the opportunity to meet him. Thank you for completing this special work and letting us appreciate his gift one more time.
I would love to hear where you met him. I met him when I was 8 years old on the island of Hydra and I had no idea who he was. What you describe is very accurate
I actually interviewed him when I was in university. He had a new book of poetry called, Book of Mercy. When I was there he told me he just recorded a new song and asked if I wanted to hear it. Of course, I said, sure. He had a Sony Walkman and I put on the headphones and he played, Hallelujah, for me. Of course, it was incredible and told him so. I ended up winning a writing award for the article I wrote about that meeting.
Leonard Cohen reaches the depths of your soul and stimulates your thinking about life, love and happiness. People say he paints gloom and doom but to me he writes and sings about all aspects of life both negative and positive. He had the gift of reaching into your very being. Thank you LC. Rest In Peace dear man!! 🙏🏻
To think that the spectre of death was hurrying near and yet he devoted his last days and hours to us, his faithful friends to that bitter end. And in the dying of the light he was there for you and me. You are amazing Leonard Cohen. And I love you so 💓❤️
Yes I know this trick. When I feel like distracting myself from the mundane and soothe my mind I listen to the birds because the birds listen to the mind of God I get a free ride.
How am I just learning about this posthumous album today? Now I've listened over and over, in tears throughout. This is easily my favorite Leonard work in some time. I miss him, I miss him so much. Thank you, Adam, and all collaborators for producing this most fitting of masterworks. It's pure Leonard at his absolute best.
Oh Leonard ... I discovered you recently, I didn't know how beautiful you were and the wonderful music that came out before hearing you, that now I want to learn everything about your discography and your life, all my love for such a beautiful person of soul
Same with me. I knew of his songs but not the man who wrote them and sang them. I discovered him the day he died. After that, I literally played his music all day every day for about two years non-stop and lapped up everything I could find about him. He has touched me profoundly. My life then became before Leonard and after Leonard.
My daughter will be 2 in January. I have often played Leonard Cohen's music to her to help her fall asleep, because his voice soothes her like nothing else. This song she picked as her favorite. Every night when we crawl into bed, she requests the "butterfly song", and whispers along with him. I wish Leonard could know what a treasure he is to one so fresh on the scene. He has lulled her to sleep hundreds of times.
I was just transported to another place! I'm so thankful Leonard left this for us all. Especially for those like me, who wasn't at a wisdom yet to appreciate his art while he was still here. We still had new poetry to discover and be graced with.
Even his unused lyrics, his alternate lyrics, his unfinished poems and songs are masterpieces that would be considered the pinnacle of the craft by most other artists. Sleep well my friend.
The atmospheric sounds with the piano on this track are absolutely sublime. I never got Leonard as a kid, as a man…I understand his poetry now. I really loved his last 3 albums. They were master pieces.
It’s time to leave the dancefloor. Oh dear, initially it was a sweet little song. A driving duet, deep and engaging. Tender tones sprightly sounded. Lightly but volatile, erratic between the lines. In harmony with our heartbeat, we listened the serenade, but sang different lyrics. With moments of love, but only a flapping in a lifetime. Not enough to quench the thirst for more. Now and then, when it’s too silent, I still like humming this melody. Sadly that the end was such out of sync. But thanks for the dance.
The Butterfly is a reference to Jesus, who ressurected on the 3 day, the God that doesnt need to be is a reference to the flame that burns without reason that Moiseh saw (Yahweh) and the hummingbird is the Holy Spirit.
I was going to listen.. to Leon. Then I discover thee. We were such a huge fans of you two. Me and she:(my wife). She's ginny think I'm putting her on. Your names both start with "Leon!". Give each other, a hug. From we?
I discovered Leonard Cohen in about 1980, and I think I've listened to at least one of his songs everyday since then. Thankyou, Mr Cohen. Here's a photo you might have liked instagram.com/p/CPlknednkca/
