Leonard Cohen ends his second concert in Dublin accompanied by 14,003 backing singers.! Save the Last dance for me at the o2 Arena. September 12th 2013.
Watching the smile on his face fills up my heart with happiness. I could watch this video every day of my life. Thank you Mr. Cohen for sharing your talent with the world. We miss you!. ♥️🇨🇦
When I saw this for the first time, I was laughing and crying. His reaction to the audience is so touching and it was making him so happy. I think it was just great that they were singing back to him. I love the Irish.
I have the same reaction- when the audience first sing along in the chorus- and the smile on Leonard’s face! I love it. And when he finally bows, hand on heart- true gratitude from the poet songster to his fans. 💝
Doc Pomus, a childhood polio victim confined to a wheelchair, wrote this song, "Save the Last Dance For Me" for his bride as she danced with other men at their wedding. Doc would have been so moved by this joyous performance and Cohen's love for the audience and the music.
It was an honor to live in the same time period with you, Mr. Cohen. Thank you - no more one can say. You and your music is not dead. You were and will always remain a genius. We love you without end ...
Un imposible, allí donde estes: Save the last dance for me. Don't forget. Sería un placer. Inolvidable caballero. Lo más bello es que me haces seguir soñando
Yes this appears to be one of the greatest concerts ever though l think Lissadell tops it. What a priviledge to have experienced Sligo and to have lived in your time. The light of heaven to you Leonard.
What a pleasure it was to listen to the master, & especially to enjoy that last song, you saved the last dance for the perfect time & place, what a night, totally enjoyed every moment.
Michael Fuino Leonard Cohen always did live among the stars. So long Leonard, man, it's time that we began, to laugh & cry & cry & laugh...about it all, again. So long...
I love this man - and grieve that he doesn't appear to want to tour anymore. Love the look on his face when he realises that he has a very big and enthusiastic chorus from the wonderful Dublin audience.
You are quite right of course Lee. Just a case of a sad old fan wanting him to go on forever. Its hard to remember the old saying that you should not grieve for what you have lost but be thankful for what you had and I am so glad I got to see him live at all when many people were not so lucky.
I was lucky to be in the audience when Leonard performed all his songs for us. We never expected him to sing a song like "Save the last dance for me". A bit outside his usual numbers but we all loved it. Just listen to how the audience (I can't see myself, but I was there in the second row) responds to him. It really broke my heart to hear that he had died.
An absolute gem, priceless and what a fitting tribute "Save the last dance for Him". Joyous and full of humour, just look at his facial expressions and that of the musicians. You have captured something very special here and a great fun filled Irish audience. Well done Albert.
I still get chills when I listen to this song. The audience's response is so energetic and loving and his reaction is so endearing, that I am smiling and crying at the same time. Bless you, Mr. Cohen, for touching the hearts of so many people. Thank you for posting., albertnoonan .
what a song and what a man...artist. save the last dance for me Leonard...we've been blessed to know you. I first saw you in 1981 and then in 2009..two of the peak experiences of my life..and each time I listen to your music i am blessed again
Beaucoup d'émotion en écoutant cet inoubliable chanteur qui me rappelle son concert à Nantes il y a quelques années. Merci à ce bel auteur- interprète.⚘⚘⚘
This was the very last song I saw him perform live...this exact song..this exact concert. Thanks so much for posting this. Was lucky enough to see him a few times. He leaves such a hole with his death, but due to the wonders of modern technology I can relive this again.
Love this song, and LeonardCohen. What a beautiful man, who will be missed greatly. I love the rapport with the audience, and how they sang along with him, especially when they sang "Leonard, save the last dance for me. " You can see how much he loved it. Saw him in concert in Vancouver in 2009 and his deep appreciation for his band and his fans shone through. What a special night it was ! Thank you for the music Leonard.
Thank you Albert for taking this recording! I have to come back to your videos- something just listening to him isn’t enough, Leonard’s smile lights up that stage. He smiles- I smile- my heart is joyful. 💝
What a hoot! A delightful one -- oh I love Leonard Cohen! The best of the best. My favourite time seeing him was in Vancouver several years ago at the Orpheum Theatre. His encore lasted an hour. Love affair? Yes, indeed! He was loving his audience as much as we were totally loving him. Thank you for posting this, 14,003 backup singers included! :-)
These are the moments that ANY musician craves to experience and will treasure ... and some never truly do. Certainly a judicious choice of song; indeed one that many would not readily associate with Cohen but an evergreen that is known the world over but add that to an audience he already "has in the palm of his hand" and you get moments like this.
It was never about upstaging... this was our love song and thanks for a lifetime of poetry and music to Leonard Cohen and hopefully he understood, I think he did. It also turned out to be Dublin and Ireland's farewell...
