I think that would have actually been a really cool direction to take Penny’s character if they had made her more of a Sci-Fi actress. It would have showed the influence the guys had on her while keeping with her original dreams. Plus, it could have led into some interesting future plotlines.
Too bad doing interesting plot lines was not what the so called writers wanted to do. They just wanted to make everyone unlikeable assholes to milk the premise of the show for all it was worth.
Really it was stupid of Penny to reject the Audition because even if she doesn't like Star Wars surely she must recognise that it has a popular fanbase and would get her more attention as an actress.
@@TheWeepingDalek as someone with a high strive to make it into showbiz, that's pretty ignorant of her to consider anything that connects her to her goal, to be seen as "irrelevant". All jobs requires a lot of hard work and tenacity to pull through - especially impractical careers. She should already be fully aware that she's gambling her life to achieve this goal.
If she was a real actress? She would grab the opportunity without giving it another thought. Auditions are the life blood of an actors life! Especially of those who are not recognized yet. What she actually says by her reaction is that she doesn't really believe in her "vocation". Shame on you, Penny. Take another gulp of w(h)ine.
It had nothing to do with Star Wars. When she thought it was an actual audition, she was extremely enthused about it. But when she realized that it was a PR stunt, she realized that it was a contest to pick a super fan to stand in the background,, have no lines, be completely unrecognizable. Princes Harry and William were filmed as non speaking storm troopers, and their scene was cut. Now maybe she should have been willing to send in a tape, because a struggling actor should take advantage of even the smallest opportunities. But even if there was a PR stunt contest for a part in a movie like, Bridesmaids-she still wouldn’t have done it.
this comment is old and I'm not an actor, but the Star Wars community is one of the most toxic communities I have ever searched. They ruined a lot of actors lives, specifically prequels.
@@merx8063 yes I saw the video. I think everyone that clicked on it or let it autoplay did. Stewy over here is under the impression that we did not. What a maroon ......
Well, considering the fact that Penny had little to no options at that time she should’ve jumped at the opportunity. She had no idea how much exposure a small part in a new Star Wars film could’ve gotten her.
She really did. The two movies that Penny was in were “Serial Ape-ist” and “Serial Ape-ist 2: Monkey See, Monkey Kill”. They were low-budget horror/fantasy/schlocky sci-fi exploitation flicks that became underground cult favorites on the fandom convention circuit. So, Penny was involved in that world, even before she and Leonard connected.
Only thing was she considers those movies the worst in her career and it's always the butt of the joke whenever they're mentioned so it doesn't really count if there's actual hatred towards them.
@@unamusedrowlett6303 Yes, they were the worst movies of her career. They were also the best movies of her career. (They were the ONLY movies of her career.) Her only other role (besides commercials) was in “The Diary of Anne Frank”, a theatrical play performed above a bowling alley.
Wheaton really doesn't have any pull in casting. I love the guy, but if he had any kind of pull, he'd be able to get a cameo for Wesley in a bunch of star trek films or shows. Or Felicia Day would be in one of them, or any of his other friends.
I get that Penny got upset at Leonard, but she can be a bit of a drama queen. A bit fan of storming off and at times one has to walk on eggshells around her. Of course I love her character, but sometimes it's healthy to be critical, as well.
I know it was done for comedic purposes but using the Luke vs the Death Star analogy could have been replaced by Leonard telling Penny that George Lucas used relatively unknown actors and actresses for his movies. That would be more encouraging to Penny but not as lol for us.
I like to imagine in these multiverse movies they see a _Star Wars_ with alternate casting, like the cast from _Carrie_ or _American Graffiti._ William Katt as Luke Skywalker, Sissy Spacek as Princess Leia, and John Travolta as Han Solo. Ron Howard as Luke Skywalker, Cindy Williams as Princess Leia, and Harrison Ford as Han Solo. Of course my pick would have been Perry King, who auditioned for the movie, and actually did play Han Solo in the 1981 Radio Drama! He finally found a successful gig in 1984 when he became a lead in the _Riptide_ TV show which had 56 episodes.
are people beign dumb. penny isn't upset Leonard got her an audition. she was excited. only to realise it proberly wasn't a real audition and like she said is a pr stunt.
@@AlexSeverinski A show so garbage that is lasted 12 years and you are commenting on it? Somebody call a carpenter because there's a massive tool over here! You're welcome.
@@johnleoalgo9692 Yes, it's garbage. And the fact that it ran for 12 years doesn't mean anything other than the people involved in making it and the idiots watching it are the real tools.
his key error in dealing with women is he doesn't understand that when we're upset, we just want to wallow and get all our sadness out in one go so we don't have to be sitting on it forever, and then after some time we can start working ourselves back up and feel ready to be motivated and start fresh.
I mean yeah, Penmy is right to hate Leonard. Luke was force-sensetive and all it took for him to use the force is one phrase uttered by Ben. You'd think that changing a torpedo's course mid-flight and making it so precise that it flies all the way down should take years of practice but nope. He just did it.
The biggest problem with Penny is that she thought she DESERVED to be famous. If she was really serious about being an actress, she could have tried small roles or even theater, but no, she wanted to be a movie star and her backup plan was to be a tv star. Penny didn't wanted to be an actress, she wanted to be famous and rich, plain and simple.
Probably better that Penny didn’t follow up on the Star Wars audition. After thinking about it, I thought, what if she went after it and actually got some small part in the next Star Wars movie. Even fifteen seconds on the screen as some female character with just one line of dialog could have been enough. Next thing you know the Star Wars fans are all talking and speculating about the new female character so she gets brought back as the same character in the next movie which leads to her getting noticed by more influential directors and producers. Pretty soon, other movie scripts are coming her way and she is hob-nobbing with other big name movie stars and the elite Hollywood snobbery crowd and before you know it, she dumps Leonard for the last time and never looks back.
See? This is why I don't like Penny, she always acts like she's doing Leonard a favor by being with him, like all this geek stuff annoys her and she looks down on him but hey girl, He's an accomplished scientist with a job and stability, he can be a geek if he wants, you on the other hand are an alcoholic mediocre waitress. I'm sorry, but from all the characters she's the one I cannot stand. Oh and don't make me start on how she teachs Amy to use sex as a weapon on her relationship with Sheldon.... ewww awful character.
Actually, you have a point. In the real world Penny would not get away with all the stuff she gets away with in the series, because everyone would be offended in some way or another by her attitude. That would lead to either an early break up or Leonard getting isolated from his friends. But in the series it's all molded in a way that it works out funny. So, there you go, the magic of tv.
Agreed. It’s why I always wanted to see more of Alex in the series. Her character was perfect for Leonard and vice versa. Just too late in the series and would have thrown the show into chaos.
They both had different opinions on things and only found out about stuff when the topic came into conversation with friends at dinner. They were not IN for a long run, obviously.
She is very annoying. Here you have a guy helping you and you complaining. This is why she doesn’t deserve Leonard. She settled if anything. And tbh I think Leonard settled more anyway. He could of gotten much better.
