What is up ladies and gents! This video came special order from a fellow member and fan who asked for a step-by-step process of how to calculate the odds when dealing with an Infinite amount of combinations! This is so EASY guys, you will be able to understand after this video, and of course some practice of your own. If I missed anything, or you just didn't get it, DO NOT worry, I will be sure to answer any questions you have left. Awesome series of videos. You broke down what seems like very overwhelming content between all the different morphs and genetics and made it super simple. Thank you for doing these!!

TY so much for watching! I felt like maybe i put too much content in each video, but maybe ill do shorter break down videos in the future for these topics but also really appreciate your feeedback!

this is super useful. but I don't have a breeder nearby that actually can tell me the exact gene of the gecko. I think it is pretty much for me to guess after breeding them.
@GeekyGeckoCreations
@GeekyGeckoCreations 3 года назад
Yeh unfortunately sometimes you have to test breed to find out for sure, but u know what, its just a journey and a task that can be made quite fun to prove something out if you allow it time and patience :D Hang in there Joe! :D :D

Hello! Great video, very informative and helpful! I have a question, I just bought a new leopard gecko pair, and was hoping that maybe you could help me identify what the babies will be. It’s a pair of bolds, and I don’t know much of the morph. The female is a Bold Snow, White and Yellow, 100% het eclipse. The father is a Bold stripe, 66% het eclipse. If you could help me identify what the babies will be, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks, and have an amazing day!
@GeekyGeckoCreations
@GeekyGeckoCreations 3 года назад
"Bold" just means that the gecko has large amounts of black patterning,a nd bold stripe means it has 2 raicing stripes down its sides that are black. If this is what you are refereing to, both of those "genetics" are what is called line bred traits. Meaning, it takes many many generations of parents who have similar patterns to create offspring that have that same similar pattern. So if you cross a Bold (which is not striped) with a bold stripe (which is striped) it is similar to a tall person crossing with a short person, two opposit ends of the spectrum, what will happen? The babies will be "medium" sized, or expressing "both" attributes of each parents to varying degeres. Does that make sense?
@GeekyGeckoCreations
@GeekyGeckoCreations 3 года назад
Now to touch on ur "non" line bred genetics. 66% basically means 50%. In my later genetic videos I talk about how people came to a 66% chance. Check out my other 2 geenetics videos for more in depth lessons and reviews. But just think of it this way, there is a 50% chance that your gecko is "het" carrying one copy of the gene mutation or not het. You'll never know until you breed that gecko to an Actual visual Eclipse gecko to know for sure if you Male is "carrying" that het eclipse gene for sure, or not. So I will help you calculate the "known" genetics from your pairing. For the mom, both Snow and WY are incomplete dominant genetics and pass on to the offspring 50% of the time. So each baby has a 50% chance to get the snow gene or the WY gene, and a 25% chance to hit both genetics at the same time. The mom is het eclipse so she will pass on the eclipse gene to 50% of her babies but youll never know which babies, since eclipse is recessive and there is no visual cues for recessive genetics. If the Dad PROVES out to be carrying the eclipse gene you have a 25% chance to also hit eclipse into ANY of the babies.

I also have a video on Morph Market, and their Genetic calculator they have, try it out its very cool and it tells you all the genetics and calculates things for you, you just plug in the genetics you know each parent has. Here is a link to that video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IctKpHNc_Y8.html

This video is super helpful thank you so much. I’m currently looking into breeding and I’ve been trying to understand the punnet squares probably and watching this really helped. I do have a Mack snow x tangerine how would I represent her genetic makeup.
@GeekyGeckoCreations
@GeekyGeckoCreations 3 года назад
great! Yeah you watched lesson 4 already, so I would calculate the odds of each DIFFERENT genetic seperately and then multiply them out. For example Mack snow x Tangerine only has 1 "mutation" type genetic to pass on, the "snow" gene. Since snow is incomplete dominant it passes on to 50% of the babies when only 1 parent is snow. And then since Tangerine is NOT a "mutation" it would pass on some orange color to the babies from the tangerine parent, but NO tangerine color from the Mack Snow side, and therefore you would have babies that were kinda of a shade of yellow/orange in between. Does that make sense? Its like a Tall human, mixing with a short human, will make medium sized kids. Similar concept. Does that make sense? Check out the first 3 videos of this series if you havent yet as well it breaks it down more too and let me know if you have more questions :) Thanks for your support!

@GeekyGeckoCreations
@GeekyGeckoCreations 3 года назад
@@ravendestinee_ oh ok, I thought u were speaking of 2 different geckos earlier, sorry. So normally when u use the "x" symbol in the hobby it is to symbolize dad x mom. But now that I know u r only talking about 1 gecko. If u have a Tangerine Mack Snow, that means u have a gecko that was Line bred over many years to pass along orange color, do u have a pic? I can tell u if it's high orange or low, but the mack snow gene passes along each year the gecko is bred, it is not line bred, it passes to 50% of the babies so if u like snows abd super snows, get another snow gecko to mate ur current gecko with and u will make snows and super snows. If you don't want super snows just get another tangerine and you'll make some nice Tangerines/ Snows

How can I know each parents have specific genes?
@GeekyGeckoCreations
@GeekyGeckoCreations 2 года назад
Either by trusting the linage of where they came from and the word of the breeders you got them from...or test breeding your geckos over time to see if they have tremper/mack snow./eclipse etc... in them, understand?
