I love your advice on making sure to check out many resources. You are very humble and a really cool teacher of the reptiles that you have. I really like your videos.
Thank you for making this video! I just got my first two leopard geckos today. They each have their own full set up because they have belonged to my friend for the last 5 years but she wanted to re-home them. I have the time, space, and prior research so I said I could take them! This video helped a lot.
Thank you for all the info. I am expecting a delivery tomorrow. I bought the gecko and his cage and accessories for a small re-home fee. Life's good 👍😊
Although we've had other reptiles in the past, we just got our first leopard gecko. He's kind of a rescue, as the mum was giving it away as the son could no longer care for it adequately.. His vivarium was very sparse. He's already doing better, just trying to get our heads around the heating setup and what's best - there's so much conflicting information out there! Your video has really helped us though, thanks a lot! ✌🏻
The best thing about geckos are the geckos. The worst is the angry advice and false facts. I enjoyed this because of the balanced perspective. 😌 thank you. 🇬🇧
You need both calcium, with and without d3, the d3 isndusted on food and the without d3 goes in a bottle cap inside the enclosure, they will go and eat it if the need it. UV has helped with activity and strong bones but you would need the right set up, i suggest watching a channel called Leopard Gecko, she uses UV and explains it the best.
The very first day of having a leopard gecko he escape. He somehow squeezed through the glass slides and i found him behind my bed. I immediately fixed it and made sure he wouldn't be able to do it again.
I got my leopard gecko at repticon for $65 it was the cheapest one in tue whole event and I have been watching videos and realizing I haven't really had a good tank set up for him so I gotta buy lots of stuff now
Hello I have a question. I just got my gecko today and I was wondering if they should have any light at all at night time. In my room it’s basically pitch black so I have my window open which doesn’t do much at all. Do you think he is okay in my very dark room at night?
I use a 50 gallon glass tank is that to big or to small my leopard gecko loves it I have done so much research and some videos say smaller is better and some say bigger is better what is better
Ok I had my baby in a 10 gal tank for 4 days an then moved her to a 40 gal she actually gets up an moves around an hunts. Them not needing a lot of room is bs. Give at the max a 50 gal tank u can't go wrong an they will love it
I've had my gecko for 4 weeks now, I finally got to pick him up but he's still being fidgety At time's. He will sit on my hand for a few. Great video👍🏾& I subbed. I brought him from a petsmart so I think he's about 3 months. is there away I can tell exactly around how old he is?
thanks for the video, it was very informative and your information is in line with what many other sources say. also, I think the timestamps provided will show up on the video timeline if you have one at 00:00
Is the infrared light recommended for the night time for them ?? And the basking & uvb lighting during the day we just bought one and want to be sure 😊
They should never have any lights on at night. A heat lamp and UVB light during the day are good, though. Just make sure the UVB is a linear/tube bulb, not compact.
@@unchartedwild2166 okay thank you! I’m getting a leopard gecko in 11 days from today, so I’m getting all the info I need! I’ve been watching yt videos, and doing research from the beginning of this month😂
I was so confused about the substrate thing so i gave my leo both. 1 part is loose substrate (dry eco earth) and the other part has flat stones which get nice and warm
Eco earth is not a good substrate. It’s unnatural, dusty, and hard on their joints. Good options include zoo med’s reptisoil, a mix that’s 60% top/potting soil and 40% playsand (or a soil/sand/clay mix), Arcadia earth mix arid, or Terra Sahara from the bio dude.
@@rowanlouise4040 that’s not what you hear about every substrate… Coconut fibre is known to be dusty when dry, which can cause respiratory infections. It has a very loose consistency that can cause joint problems, their feet tend to sink into it (soil is firmer and provides more support). A soil/sand mix is much better for them. www.google.ca/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/leopardgeckos/comments/fd8f5k/leopard_geckos_an_advanced_guide/ reptifiles.com/leopard-gecko-care/leopard-gecko-substrate/
I’m thinking about getting a leopard gecko however I’m a bit torn between using a UVA or UVB light or simply using a heating pad. My room can be relatively cold at times so I’m nervous about relying on a mat.
well depending on the UV light it might not even give off heat, your best bet is probably both a UTH and heat lamp so you have good day heat and night if your room gets too cold
Does anyone know of anyone or anyplace that rehabilitates and re-homes leopard geckos in Indiana or The Midwest? I’ll take any advice please help! Thanks
I am having trouble with my leopard spotted gecko not opening well enough to eat he’s losing weight and also has a bump on Undertail balloon type bubble legs Frist time reptile owner
