First time reaction to Leprous and the song Slave LIVE at Rockerfeller plaza, this will be the first time I see Leprous live or video, and the second song I have heard from the band, I have coined the sultry vocal style as R&B Metal, doe Leprous kick ass? a Request for Shawn, let's dive in!
Leprous is a progressive metal band from Notodden, Norway, formed in 2001. The group was founded by singer and keyboardist Einar Solberg and guitarist Tor Oddmund Suhrke. After releasing several demos with relatively unstable lineups, the band released their first studio album, Tall Poppy Syndrome, in 2009

It’s technically prog metal. The vocalist’s name in Einar (he’s also the brother in law of Ihsahn of Emperor). Looove them-one of my favorite bands. They’ve changed their sound quite a bit since their inception, but there aren’t any bad songs. It all depends on your taste. This has two drummers because they brought their old drummer in to play with the current drummer for this performance. Their drummer Baard is an absolute machine. You should definitely check out more Leprous. If you like drum playthroughs, “The Sky is Red” is a must. Cheers, Shane!

Possibly the best live band in prog metal. Awesome skills.

One of my favorite bands and awesome live! They have many different styles and sounds, yet still keep the "Leprous" feel.

It's like if Type O Negative and Muse got Josh Groban Pregnant then this would be their two headed drummer KID. I did not know what to expect but that song grew on me and I give it a thumbs up!

The Josh Grooben of metal is accurate. The dueling drummers was really cool. This would've been a really fun show to have been at. Nice suggestion Shawn!

I work with Einar and even if my background is more pop/synth like Depeche Mode, Rammstein I really like their music, strong songs and amazing vocal.

These guys don't have a bad song. Seen them live twice, met them once after a show too, they were just happy to chat to me and my girlfriend while they cleared up some of their gear after the show. For real heavy, older leprous, please check out 'Passing'. It hits hard, and I'm disgusted that there aren't any reactions for this on youtube as far as I can tell. For groovy prog metal that'll put you in a sprt of rhythmic trance, check out 'The Valley' or 'Illuminate'. For eurovision song contest pop-rock leprous, check out 'Alleviate'. There's a leprous song for everyone, I'm sure of it.

There's _so_ many Leprous songs to recommend, with _wildly_ different tones and styles, since they re-invent themselves on every album. But here's a list of suggestions -From the Flame (what got me into them; odd-meter never sounded so catchy) -The Sky is Red (modern masterpiece with the headbang-iest outro I've ever heard; has a good drum playthrough) -Rewind (big masterpiece, like a heavier Sky is Red; has a drum playthrough and a great live version) -The Flood (personal favorite) -Bonneville (literally a James Bond opening song) -Castaway Angels (acoustic and very soft) -Acquired Taste (the live version) -Forced Entry (heavy and dissonant; _very_ metal) -The Weight of Disaster (underrated jam) -Moon (not their best _song,_ but the drum playthrough is _incredible!)_ Hope you get to join us down this rabbit hole in due time, lol

Oh man i was feeling the Dolby experience for a while...then it seemed it was gonna take off at 4min 10 secs...then it went back to the slow/dirge ...i may come back and give it a second listen...like X-Japan !!!! Damn you Shane i have been singing "Weekend-Weekend-Weekend" all during the week and I can't get that song or those guys freaky hair-doos outta my head...and i hope some ancient Japanese curse dosen't go along with diggng those guys ...because a few of the members (including Miss Althea's cute bass player) have committed suicide plus a few of their fans along the way !

OMG dude - I was thinking the same thing! I was like, "WHAT. THE. F***." when I saw the statements about the multiple suicides...could only think of the Sea of Trees a/k/a Suicide Forest at Mt. Fuji....just creepy. And unfortunate. I guess I should consider the comment I made about bass player dude an honor to his memory....I truly hope he found a better place.

Full kit double drummers a la Adam and the Ants, and all the TV screens kind of remind me of the stage set The Cars had on the Heartbreak City tour (but of course for them it was all classic UHF "boob-tubes" back in 1984...oh, oh, it's magic.... RIP Ben Orr and Ric Ocasek!!). I thought this was cool once it kicked in - finally.....it just took a little too long to get to that point for me. (And I can be a little high-strung sometimes!) Nothing against the slower part but for me, if it was going to continue in that meter for much longer, I was expecting the whole song to be that way. Translation: I probably would have given this a few more points if the slow part was shorter and a true intro, rather than half a song. But, I know absolutely nothing about these guys and perhaps that was their intent - kinda sorta how Guns N Roses' Rocket Queen totally changes meter toward the end and is basically 2 songs in one.....
