Antoine François Pol was a French officer, business leader and poet born on August 26, 1888 in Douai and died on June 21, 1971 in Seine-Port. He is best known as the author of the poem "Les Passantes", set to music and performed by Georges Brassens in 1972 on the album Fernande.

It is by throwing confetti
By a Thursday of mid-Lent
That my lonely heart is moved,
It is by throwing confetti;
And if I could be understood
Of the muse of this poem,
It is thanks to all the confetti
Thrown this day of mid-Lent.
I had damaged her hat,
I had torn her veil.
She liked this kind of assault
And laughed at her hat
I bombarded her immediately
When she turned her head a little...

I took her handcuff, victorious.
In mine she was left.

To see the floats of the queens go by;

We would both be embarrassed.
I did not see his eyes,
