Les Miserables Songs One of my favorite songs from the production in a better quality that I could find elsewhere on youtube. Marius Pontmercy: Michael Ball Eponine: Lea Salonga Cosette: Judy Kuhn Hope you enjoy!
Michael Ball is, and likely always will be, the best Marius. The man is so open in his singing and his face is so full of joy and that you can understand his sudden love without him seeming really stupid. Also I just miss when Marius was a baritone role.
That’s just the fact. I’ve never liked Marius, but Michael Ball’s Marius is one of my favorite performances ever. He’s just so charismatic and portrays being in love so beautifully, plus he’s very animated, so it’s always a joy to watch his little acting choices. And, OF COURSE, an amazing voice!
Yes, I have seen several Mariuses, and Michael Ball wins hands down, in my opinion! Best voice, and with his happy, shy facial expressions, and body movements, you can really feel that he is falling or has fallen in love with Cosette. Not just acting, but he makes you feel like it is all true. True gentleman in thanking his friend Eponine, for bringing him and C. together. By expression, you can tell he has liked having Eponine as his friend. Also poor Eponine, many a fan favourite, has never gotten her wish, for Marius to be with her, until her last day.
I think, among many elements, the best part of this performance is how their voices all blend perfectly together. You can make out each of their individual melody lines clearly, without losing the emotions.
@Tom Sawyer ok, Eddie isn't the best singer, but he's an excellent actor, don't you think? He made the part of Empty Chairs at Empty Tables very emotional, even though he doesn't have the best voice for a musical
@@AnotherJenn42 and me. He literally touches me. He's described as a man who makes girls from a cirten age weak at the knees. Well I'm 22 and melt like butter at the sight of him.
I love Judy but don’t bash Katie Hall please. We Cosette fans should lift each other as she’s still very underrated by the fandom. The musical deleted here solo song I Saw Him Once already
@@mamabear1135 I think they meant that they chose their stars based on their abilities instead of popularity and star power and that this video was a proof of that.
Is everyone forgetting that Lea was KIM in MISS SAIGON?!!! One of my fave theatre musicals! but ahhh, Pocahontas is my FAVE (movie) musical! This makes me sooo happy ❤
Only Michael Ball, Colm Wilkinson, Philip Quast and Lea Salonga can do justice to this incomparable musical score. There are many great musical collaborations but only one Les Mis. It simply shames Phantom or any contemporary production. In particular Quast as Javert and Salonga as Eponine. In my opinion the two greatest theatrical singers of all time. So good as to be beyond the absurd. Two goats in one magnificent production.
I think it's a bit restrictive to say that those four are the only ones who can do justice. There have been many excellent performers in les mis over the years, unless you've seen/heard all of them how can you say these are the only ones who do it justice
French version: Marius: In my life, I have seen the model God took When He made the angels above. There she is, my princess in the garden With the flower in her hand, it feels unreal! Eponine, you are the fairy who brought us together, And I pray, that happiness like mine comes into your life, The good Lord is sometimes like a great magician! Eponine: Every joy in his heart Puts an arrow in mine. In my life, There is no one in the world but him, If he asked, I would be his. Both: In my life, There is only one person who counts in my life. Marius: There she is! Eponine: There he is. Marius: A heart full of joy, A heart full of chimeras, I do not wish to anger her, O God! Forgive me, I do not even know your name, Dear mademoiselle, I am crazy! But she is beautiful! Cosette: A heart full of joy, Tell me who you are. Marius: My name is Marius Pontmercy Cosette: And I'm Cosette Marius: Cosette, I do not know what to say Cosette: Say nothing now. Marius: My heart trembles Cosette: As does mine Both: A heart full of love, In the span of this night, Marius: O flower in the garden of paradise, Cosette! Cosette! Cosette: Are you the prince I waited for? Marius: Is this a dream? Cosette: No, I am real Both: A heart full of love, Eponine: No these words are not for me, Marius & Cosette: A heart full of you. Eponine: I do not regret what cannot be, Marius: I waited for you, Eponine: He would never say these words Not to me. Cosette: As did I Eponine: Not to me, Not for me Marius & Cosette: This is a sweet dream, More than a dream, You and I. Eponine: His heart full of joy Would never beat Not for me.
In my life She has burst like the music of angels The light of the sun And my life seems to stop As if something is over And something has scarcely begun. Eponine You're the friend who has brought me here Thanks to you I am at one with the Gods And Heaven is near! And I soar through a world that is new that is free Every word that he says is a dagger in me! In my life There's been no one like him anywhere Anywhere, where he is If he asked I'd be his In my life There is someone who touches my life Waiting near Waiting here A heart full of love A heart full of song I'm doing everything all wrong Oh God, for shame I do not even know your name Dear Mademoiselle Won't you say? Will you tell? A heart full of love No fear, no regret My name is Marius Pontmercy And mine's Cosette Cosette, I don't know what to say Then make no sound I am lost I am found! A heart full of love (He was never mine to lose) A heart full of you (Why regret what cannot be?) A single look and then I knew I knew it too (These are words he'll never say, not to me) From today (Not to me, no) Every day (His heart full of love) For it isn't a dream Not a dream after all (He will never feel this way)
This is one of the songs I was asked to do for callbacks for my musical, and this is definitely the version I'll be practicing with! Marius does such a fantastic job!
I honestly love the cross overs of the Les Mis productions here, or the Boulbil/Schonberg really. Michael Ball originated Marius in the West End production, Judy Kuhn originated Cosette in the Broadway production, while Lea played Eponine on the West End but originated Kim in "Miss Saigon" by the same production company.
You can see Michael Ball's influence on Rob Houchen who took his role in "the staged concert." Rob comes close to it. Michael Ball and Alfie Boe hit it off great as Javert and Valjean. Lea Salonga always has and always will be my favorite Eponine. This was the role the led her to be cast as Kim in Miss Saigon.
hmmmmm...I dont think its annoying ... How can u be annoyed. Lea's words are clearer than Brits or real Americans...She was brought up well...I mean with her language skills..
I'm a person who can relate to Marius. I friendzoned my best friend girl even though she had confessed her feelings to me. I'm sorry I gave my heart to someone else...
Oh dear Lea! Lea's voice here is more than the Cossette here! Lea's version Eponine is the BEST SINGER IN THE WHOLE SHOW and she's more pretty than this Cossette!😁 Her voice is more than Cossete's!
joel manrique you need to chill out dude. The way lea sings gets on my nerves as well, it's not just them. Her accents really don't fit Eponine, she's supposed to have this rough and shrill voice and Lea just doesn't fit it. Her voice is almost too perfect for this role in a way. She suits Fantine better. Also you spelled 'spelled' wrong, so you have no room to correct others.
