This is one of the finest versions of this song I have ever seen. The words are crystal clear, the soprano voices are crisp and sparkling. And the voices back off perfectly as the orchestra adds the flourishes.
I am performing this opera at The Frazer Theatre in Knaresborough North Yorkshire at the end of May this year with the Harrogate Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
She has a lovely(if light) singing voice.She sang Gertie (Gertrude Lawrence) in "Noel & Gertie" in the West End.It was quite creepy because Patricia's voice was just like Gertie's.
Fun fact: I used to watch Lily Savage hosting Blankety Blank when I was little and had no idea that she was actually a man in drag. I was, however, convinced that Angela Lansbury was a man after watching Bed Knobs and Broomsticks...
I used to love Blankety Blank when I was younger, they have brought it back but I do not watch it because Bradley Walsh hosts it and I do not like him at all, I find him absolutely annoying, if Stephen Mulhern was hosting it then I would watch it.

My mum would have loved this! The school she went to put on productions of Gilbert & Sullivan operettas, and when Sideshow Bob sings pieces from those in The Simpsons, I think of her. Likewise when the brass band version of Three Little Maids From School turns up on Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I remember Lily Savage doing this song where she was a checkout girl and there was a bit where she said "and what's these? Fancy greens?" Now I can not remember the name of it but does anyone know of that and have that? Please help me.
It's from a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, The Mikado I think. G&S tunes are still quite popular - and the plays are very popular with amateur dramatic companies, as it's hard to ruin them (though I've seen some good tries!), or to put it another way it isn't hard to perform them in a way that both audience and cast will enjoy; thus, if you've ever had anything to do with AmDram, you may well have heard it there. (Note: in the US, The Mikado is considered serious opera. Which it isn't! Like most G&S, it's light, with a large element of comedy.)
And excellent for amateur dramatics, as it's very hard to completely wreck it (though I've seen some performances that come close!). Not if you're USAnian, though: they treat The Mikado as serious opera!
