Thought I heard this song before, Leslie West has made me reevaluate all the versions including the animals call and declaring this for myself as a definitive version! Rest in peace Leslie West.
Leslie sounds like a locomotive here... charging forward yet hitting every piston, every note, just right. Such a smooth hand, with a pick attack that may be the most confident in the world.
Nice, I did the artwork for that album and others he did with Shrapnel's Blue Bureau label. Always tried to do my absolute best for Leslie, he was the real deal, a gruff rocker with a heart of gold....
@@ismaelraal He really was. Leslie was the real thing, he had a real gruff voice his heart was pure gold. I did several albums of his on Blues Bureau. When I retired from the insanity of the graphic design career, my very last job was directly for Leslie and his band Mountain. I was paid directly from him. I tried to do the job in trade for one of his Leslie West Signature guitars, Dean gave him two, but at the last moment he told me the guitars both meant so much to him that he'd rather pay me than give away one of the guitars. Oh well, but he was fun to work for, and Ozzy Osbourne was on that last album I did, which was called "Masters of War" by Bob Dylan. Its a great album and my favorite song on it is Leslie with nothing but a piano and his voice. I told him he should do a whole album with nothing but him telling stories of his life and a piano for accompaniment. That never happened. He and Corky and the others, it was like a reality show, they were always making funny insults among themselves. Great man, did great things with so little....
back in the70s when so many concerts were coming thru (most of the time5 bucks or less) I got to see Leslie West and trapeze and it was a really good show. back then it wasnt so hard to put together a show and often 2nd tier bands were double and triple billed and the result s were very memorable. of course these 2nd tier bands are historical rock acts now. MAN the scene was rich.
This Should be the only version of this song that should ever be allowed to be played. Can you Imagine artists like Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Jerry Garcia, Bon Jovi and dozens of others that tried ....Cant Hold a candle to this version. Better then the Original. Raw emotion that you cant fake your way out of.
@@thecatalinakid Thanks. sounds good. It’s just my personal opinion I guess where it’s just needs to sound a bit Heavier or Raunchier…hard to describe …even Toto of all bands version sounds pretty cool. For me this Leslie Version just captures both so much more emotion. No one really cares what I think anyway…lol.
Как только я услышал вот это черт знает сколько лет назад, то оригинальная песня "Жывотных" из моего плейлиста исчезла. Само собой что если я играю "House of Rising Sun" то только от Leslie West
I have heard many great covers of this song, but none of them grabbed me quite like this one. Just amazing, but I don't think I've ever heard anything done by Leslie West that wasn't amazing.
My family is so bad, the tales of who killed who, the hits we got past, put on us for being less than the one half of family aristocracy, any one else dare put a hit on me, been fed to the pigs, the swamps, the crocs in the slough and before DNA, th wood chipper would do... d'ja ever see that Hitchcock B+W show, the lady I think dear Janet Leigh, I knew her, duh, she kills her a-hole hubby and cooks him, feeds him to the cops as being "uh, leg of lamb." No body no crime, yet I get heavy when I think of Felix too, how awful it is to snap... all I can say is West is amazing, how his life has been, how he keeps on keeping in, the sweet spot, yes, we love the West...
