Roc Steady Same Here. Guilty of Over Complicating My Beats. Less Is More In Most Regards. Just Have Fun, Yet Be Mindful of Your Beats Elements, And How They Mesh Together. So Many Variations You Can Achieve With A Few Sounds.
YES! I spend soooo much time picking and shaping sounds, it feels like reinventing the wheel every time cuz i'm always trying to make each track unique but its very time consuming! Side note: where's that master chain homey??!?! ;)
Less is more. But Simplicity Is Complex. When there's not a lot of details minimals errors pull you're beat to amateur level. Get your beats on point and start grinding. The rest will follow.
I really like this guy , one of the best tutorials i have ever seen on RU-vid , he's in flow while making the beat , love the work Internet Money put in.
You taught me some things about fl studio that is going to help me a lot just in this one video. I didn't know about splitting by channel, nor did I know about "route selecting channels starting from this track". I've been working with fl studio since like 2011 and never knew these things!
I think understanding the basics is important, but don’t get caught up in just what beats sell on the internet. The best music challenges the listener or recording artist to do something unique
You didn’t really touch on the mastering process of this beat! Would have liked to have seen you dig into it more on camera besides skipping over it. I agree with this process so much less is definitely more, sick beat i must say! Also, what volume do you usually have your monitors at when mixing/ mastering? I find i make my mix sound good at volume on monitors at half but then when i blast the mix super loud my snare or clap just sounds ear piercing. Sorry for the huge comment lol but your insight would be really appreciated! Thanks a lot.
this is nice. ive been wanting to improve structuring my beats. for ppl bitching this aint made from scratch. it sure hell looks like it was made from scratch using samples... if you want to learn how to make melody and harmony, go watch their other tutorials
MJ! You have no idea how good it is to see you on here again! You were the one who introduced me to IM in the first place! It would be so cool to see you break down some of your VESTIGE workflow/process, that shit is amazing Still very sad you deleted your tutorials/Q&As off your personal channel
I do notice that most popular songs and beats are based on simplicity so its perfectly on pair with the mindset of your arrangements. I will integrate that to mines. Thank you!
nice video, thanks a lot! i feel like the minimalistic is the biggest difference between producers getting hella plays on their beats vs producers that actually make hit songs (like you guys do)
I rap and produce my own stuff sometimes but i usually use other peoples beats and trust me its better to let the artist and engineer throw in the beat pauses
I must say , My hats off to you Mr. mjNichols. this was one of the most interesting tutorial videos Internet Money team has put out in a minute. Its good to see someone else besides Nick mira putting out quality tutorial vids all the time. Don't get me wrong the other internet money members do a good job too, but not like this. Nick mira been putting out so many vids and tutorials i'm shore the guy needs a break. He probley feels like LEBRON JAMES!!!!!. He be saying were the f**k is the help...lol . mjNichols and Nick mira be on a hole new level. I salute you brothers to the fullest
I just uploaded a beat 2 minutes ago and stg I was just watching one of your vids from long ago last night.. man I ain't even know you still part of IM
I thought mj was sick because i rarely saw him on internet money, but now i see him uploading again i see he is actually really sick. Sick tutorial bro!
Yo this is dope! No cap, I swear I did the exact same thing you spoke about in this vid, worked on a beat today and said to myself I got all the elements I need why do I constantly have to keep adding just to feel like the beat is complex? So I kept just 3 instruments, build drums around it, it had a bounce feel to it but realised once I started arranging it that's where the magic was and more depth in the beat and you don't realise until you start arranging it how you can take your beat and turn it into something you never saw originally sounding before hand! Thanks KS for sharing this awesome vid! Definitely woke me up to do less and focus on dope arrangements and little tips to add depth
Awesome tutorial MJ! Love the simplicity of the beat, ‘less is more’ is definitely something i’ve been implementing in my production. Would have loved to see your mastering process!
"less is more" such a powerful phrase yet alot of producers still don't get it even tho it's common sense🤦 tbh I didn't know instantly at first making beats but hey atleas I got it around my head to it!
no i said, I buy many pack from nick mirra bro on internet money website, and you buy many pack from mjnicholas, if you send me one I can send you one from nick mirra, is not "illegaly" bro so don't worry haha
in the legal info on their website it tells you that you are not allowed to trade kits... so its illegal. Either way, i like to support these guys since they have helped me so much.
I’m at cross roads with keeping them too simple. Feels like I’m limiting the true potential or simply lazy. But the arrangements tricks to add variety helps greatly
I feel you. If it’s too complex though it will be hard for an artist to rap/sing over as well (if that is the type of song you’re making) and it might keep you from finishing a song. But don’t stifle your creativity by forcing simplicity
