Ooh boy! After many months, this video is finally finished. I really hope you guys enjoy it!
Sonic Shuffle is one of those Sonic games that get's a large amount of hate, as people like to claim it's just a copy of Mario Party. A statement I can never truly agree with due to the fact that it's made by the original developers of Mario Party.
While this video is not a video review, in fact it's just a heavily edited stream highlight, a lot of love and care has been put into it too show how insane a typical match can be. As well as hopefully teach viewers who aren't familiar with this game, it's rules, mechanics and possibly some tips if they are ever to play the game for themselves!
The A.I. may cheat, (Just like they do in Mario Party) but it's still a fun and engaging game. And while it may not be the party game for everyone. I really do hope that this video helps people appreciate and better understand this forgotten Dreamcast Precioustone.

I've heard of this game but never knew what it was about before watching this video. I didn't realize it was a party-type game, I thought it was more of a puzzle game just based on the name. It seems cool though and I wouldn't mind seeing more videos on this or other lesser-known Sonic games in general.

Maybe? Sadly the multiplayer aspect doesn't really work, as it was designed around people having VMU's to hide their cards from other players. Could still work as a online party game though. I would kill to see a new one!

@@CallieMacN I think had they not cut online multiplayer from Shuffle to make their release window, it might have had a better chance, as not only would the card mechanics work much better online, but also set it apart from Mario Party which would not get online multiplayer until 18 years later. It would have still been hampered by the lack of success of the Dreamcast itself, online play in general not yet having matured, and other flaws in the design and execution. But perhaps if Shuffle had gotten the polish it needed, then even with the Dreamcast being discontinued it might have been able to thrive by being ported to competing consoles supporting online capability. It's a bit of a shame that SEGA seems to drop any ideas that don't pan out rather than coming back to them and just iterating on the execution to make a better version. Shuffle, Riders, RPGs, party games, playing as Sonic's friends in platforming games. It is understandable, but in the cases where the flaws were in the execution more than in the concept, it would have been nice to have seen them take another shot, even if not for a long time. Nowadays I think a Shuffle-like game could work far better. Even 8-10 years ago on something like the Wii U, they could have done a successor with its GamePad playing the same role as the Dreamcast's VMU. Nowadays you have mature online, powerful consoles to make it easier to avoid long loading times, and a developer could even do something like in the Jackbox games where the game is linked to players' mobile devices, again playing the role of the VMU.

@@itsmyturnnow9343 Yeah, I too wish for this game to get a sequel or port, it's a really good game, that captures the aspects of the unfairness of early Mario Party games (that Mario Party fans forget about the first three entries they praise too highly of, unjustly) while still doing some things enough different from Mario Party to set itself apart from that game. For those aware of the unused coding of one of the first three Mario Party games, you'd notice that there's an unused minigame in there that cannot be loaded even with cheats, that seems to have been reintergrated for use in Sonic Shuffle. that budgie jumping chicken fight minigame I forgot the name of. For those who don't know what a chicken fight is, it's a test of panicking and quick reflexes to stop something at close enough to the end than the other competitors without actually hitting that end point. Mario Party has a few chicken fight minigames within the series. A good example, is one in Mario Party Superstars, the minigame that you need to shine a flashlight at a Chain Chomp when it's closer to you than your opponents, without the Chain Chomp actually hitting you. That is a form of a chicken fight

Such a wonderful video Callie. The editing is just amazing, all the hard work and love you've put in oozes out of every corner, and it is just such a fun experience to watch. I couldn't talk in the premier because I was just so engrossed in the video. Man, it is hard to believe it is done. Now that I've watched the video I can comment again, Callie, this video is amazing, i could not stop smiling while watching it! I can see that everyone that worked on the video put a lot of love in it (Just like your other videos, I can notice the love you put into them, And this is no exception), the effort it's insane. Your editing, Jewel's and BingusBnuy's art with all the Fanarts, RJ as Eggman's voice, Mike's cameo, everything, I can see that you really love this game, and that's great I remember watching the original Shuffle Stream and some of the edit streams (I also spotted myself at the chat in the video XD), so I get the references to the previous matches (like you saying that Knuckles is poor) and some parts of this one itself! The way you edited the video it's perfect, it makes easy to people to understand the game without being massive and boring, and fun to rewatch it, it's nice that you went back with the idea of you explaining everything step by step, ilustrating it it's certainly better and that ending was so epic, it literally gave me goosebumps, the final event with the music, and the credits, oh, it was so perfect! I love Sonic, I love Sonic Shuffle, and I love your videos, so this video was for sure perfect, I loved it! That match was so amazing, and the plot twist at the ending was awesome. I hope this video makes more people play this game and see how great it is (or at least play the game before saying it is bad) Hope you take a good rest before working on the next big video, Can't wait to see what it will be about, maybe Standart SRB2 finally? While I do struggle with writing things, I wanted to say how worth was the wait for this video, and how much of a wild ride was the half an hour of the premiere, which was barely noticiable as it went by. Everything I still love about this channel was still here, the amazing jokes and bits into the video, the huge attention to detail that is just hard to grasp considering the current RU-vid enviroment. But I think you deserve a long rest after these last few months of editing, so we don't lose the spark that pushes you into creating such masterpieces via burnout

Great video. Shortly after watching this, I went to play Sonic shuffle and fully completed it over the weekend...never again. I first played this game when I was a wee lad (before I heard about Mario Party). I do like the idea that there is a form of "strategy" in this game with its cards compared to other party games. But it almost doesn't matter since the AI can see your hidden cards and snatch the best ones. So you have to use your 5s and 6s early otherwise they'll get stolen by the cheating AI. There is no way I can beat this game on Normal...IMPOSSIBLE on HARD mode. It's funny that SONIC is possibly the worst character to play in Sonic Shuffle. Tails, Knuckles, and Amy have their shortcuts...but Sonic doesn't have any. He instead has this special ability. Which in my personal opinion can be more of a liability than a benefit. If I play the same card twice in two turns he moves double the spaces of that card number. But If I want to land on a certain spot, I could end up going past the precious stone or important spaces. Me: "Alright. I'm five spaces from the next precious stone. I'll just use my 5 card and...WHAT 10!? NO!!! GODDAMMIT SONIC!!! I played as AMY since she had access to the best shortcuts on some maps and her S card battles got me easy boss wins. SOME Mini-games are OK, and the mini-events are a neat idea. But there are too many BAD mini-games where it's literally IMPOSSIBLE to win or it's just poorly implemented. This is quite a bummer since you need to have the most wins in these mini-games to win an emblem. I never did any of the quests (board events) because this game never explains it! So I didn't know these things existed until it was too late. I always aimed for 2-3 precious stones, the most rings, and the most mini-game wins. Then I am guaranteed 1st place and progress to the next level. But that is a lot harder than it sounds. Overall: Sonic Shuffle is an Interesting idea, but I don't think it's a great game. I believe that if it had about 6 months of polishing and changes it would've been an OK party game with a strategic element. Sonic Shuffle doesn't make certain things clear and can become difficult for players to grasp at first. It's a game that kinda needs you to plan your whole journey before playing each level. I don't understand whose bright idea was to allow the AI to see the player's cards as this no doubt made players quit Sonic Shuffle.

I'm so happy to see this video after watching the editing streams xD Not gonna lie, this game was really tough, I know this is meant to be "Sonic Party" but the AI was pretty much on point with the "screw the player" strats, but at least you managed to get some epic moments in there too x) And the editing is so freaking good, no wonder it takes so much time, but the end result is always worth the wait, and it inspires me to improve my editing skills too xD - V.D.

Ah, I only had a bit of time to stay and watch/comment during the premiere before I had to leave the house and go out, but now that I'm back home and I've had the chance to watch in full I can say without a doubt that this is an absolutely amazing video there Callie! Anyone watching for even a minute could tell just how much care and time and love was put into making this video possible!! It was really nice to visit the edit livestreams and just talk with you and the chat, or even see you make progress. XD Everything really took off once you started throwing together that Phoenix Wright seen way back when, huh? There's just so many neat little details put in! And above all I still really admire the animations you do with Jewel's art! Not to mention getting some extra voices in (the eggman section was especially fun to watch). I remember this game... I remember how frustrated I was with it, but I still loved it too. Kinda wish they did another Shuffle game. Your edits were really good. It's been so long since I've seen this game I thought the Result screen was legit a part of the game. Very fun video. ^_^

I can see why videos that have so much personallity take so long. But was it worth the wait.... Yes. I loved every second of this video. And you've earned yourself a well deserved break. Also hearing "End of Summer" from Runners legit got me all nostalgic and emotional. I love that game to death and hearing that made me tear up. So instant 10/10 video.

I completely agree with Callie. Sonic shuffle (albeit a game I’ve never personally played) looks really fun. It’s definitely a far more polished and functioning game than much of what we get nowadays. People really need to stop hating games and other media just because they share similarities or aspects of other pre-made media. It’s literally impossible to make something entirely new or original nowadays, and have it take off, just because everything has been done before in some way or another. Just because you play a party game with events on a board using currency doesn’t make a game ‘bad’ or a ‘ripoff’. Because going by that logic, Mario Party is a ripoff of Monopoly to a sizable extent, which is entirely untrue. People are entitled to their opinions, yes, but that doesn’t mean their opinions are universally correct. That’s why they’re opinions. I think I’d love to play this game if it got a port or a remaster. As I said, it looks really fun!
