Lesser Whitethroats are often one of those birds in the 'Heard but not seen' category, so trying to get any sort of decent video usually takes an awful lot of patience and even then you can come away with little more than a few fleeting glimpses of a small brown shape deep in the centre of a thicket. However, on a recent visit to heathland on the Purbeck peninsula in Dorset we heard this male singing from a small clump of bushes alongside a quiet road next to the layby where we had parked. To my amazement it frequently popped out on the sunny side of the bush and I started to think that I might actually be able to get a decent video of one at last, so I sat at a sensible distance and waited. Well, here's the video I managed to get after about an hour sitting patiently!! I'll let you be the judge as to whether it was worth it.
