Lesson 11: How to practice Meend and Gamak in Flute/Banshi/Banshuri

Happy New Year 2018!!!
We wish all a very very musical year with lots of flute playing and learning! When we will greet 2019, our music will be lot more beautiful than today!
In this lesson we discussed two very basic type of ornamentation in classical music, which is Meend and Gamak. There is no end of this type of skill, but we introduced these here. There are a lot of ornamentation mentioned in many places, but these two are the basics, if someone practice it very carefully, a magical dimension would be added to his music. we hope you enjoy this lesson!

Started out on an E middle flute i got for free. Since starting your lessons, I bought a G scale flute because i loved the base sound u were producing. Caused a setback since my fingering was not proper on a bigger flute. Completed this lesson finally on my G scale flute successfully. Thank you, teacher.

Yes I also was not getting the sound that guruji was demonstrating but after I learnt tounguing then I understood that you need to practice tonguing to a certain level for meend and gamak to sound melodious
