That knife is spiffy. Yes, it would be interesting to learn of how they did this before modern materials.

+Nika Boyce It was done with flour paste and take long time to wait for it to dry between each step. The modern method just make it possible for us to do it at home.

Master Li, would this preserve the art work ? The silicon adhesive? I have purchased a Chinese art work scroll. I want to preserve it as a museum quality to protect it from dust, damp/humidity, and spoilage. I thought maybe framing in like a shadow box frame? No? Yes?

Could this method also be applied to making a scroll for writing? Just curious as I'm thinking about making a scroll just for writing instead of a hanging scroll.

You mean to mount a calligraphy instead of painting? Yes.

+Lynn S We can mount the whole thing with flour paste. Still that is the best way to do it for museums and galleries.
