God, what a brilliant man Mr Phy is. I hope he licenses his improved truck camper storage flatbed configuration so reputable truck mod services can reproduce it.

Being a metal fabricator, I love to watch this type of fabrication. Truck Camper Magazine certainly gives one the opportunity to explore these avenues as well as adventures and mods of other truck campers! Thanks, Angela & Gordon

It does my heart well seeing this video. As back in 2017 I upgraded my 1996 Lance Legend 990 to a dual slide 1176. I could write a lengthly sad essay all the bad taking place from then on. But, this being RU-vid, I won’t bother. I am now RV’less completely. Yet, I still amble back to campers from time to time. As a former high spender to many things outdoor related. I’ve built a knowledge base inside my warped brain box for WHAT NOT to do when it comes to Big money items. Never again for this old coot. 🥺

Enjoyed your vlog. We think alike. I want my truck bed to have lots of storage. Also, I raced SCCA and IMSA, (FireHawk Series). My home track was Limerock. I've been retired from racing since the 90's. You have given me inspiration to get back into racing. Thanks, Rodney

There are a few companies out there that make custom beds for campers. Charles is unique in that he built his own. It is pretty awesome!

very cool. I have been planning a build like this for many years, just never had the $$ to execute it. But I always knew it would have to be a class 4/5 truck. Not just for the payload, but they actually have a much better turning radius. So I always figured that as long as I knew I was going to have a monster truck, I would need all the help I could get to maneuver it around town.

you can put these on 1 tons. air bags are like 200$ bucks. 1 ton has a higher output engine aswell. i have one and alos pull a 28 foot with 2 jeeps on it. i run 80 alday on the highways.

Smart. The ONLY way to haul some of these campers is with a 3500 drw and up. Sooooo many overloaded trucks out there. "Just put airbags on it" and suddenly your Tundra or 2500 can haul 4000 lbs. Not. I love the storage, far more practical than the common factory bed.

I've driven 500,000 miles on my truck and camper, gone through three engines. What I do not like about the camper I'm a senior, it's too hard to use the overhead compartment for sleeping not enough room in too dangerous to get up and down, plus it's cold. Also I'm very tall, and the bathrooms in a camper usually are very limited. Campers are not very good for off-roading, there's too much movement. What I do like about a camper you can go almost anywhere except there are some height restrictions. Also I wish the pass-through window between the truck and a camper was more suitable for the adults and seniors. I also wish that the dinette wasn't better bad, that's where I spend most of the time sleeping and that bed is not very comfortable. I wish on RV manufacturers with built-in Solar panels collectors not only on the roof but on the side walls also. That would save for a lot of air conditioning and Generator usage. I also do not like an air conditioning unit mounted on the roof, it makes it even taller, I wish they would make an air conditioner for RVs on the side walls.

I think our 2018 Eureka TC (1600 lbs loaded) on our Ram 2500HD would have beaten Charles on that slalom course :-) Really enjoyed the video and can appreciate Charles's racing background in his approach to dialing in the handling of the truck.

rubber compounds are susceptible to damage from direct contact with gasoline, oil and antifreeze, that a bad spot for the tire tank filler combo. that spare tire will end up failing when needed. nice rig tho.
