I cried during his telling of that unarmed soldier, that guilt that he has carried with him, the knowledge that he acted out of (pretty justifiable) fear and anger but couldn't save him. Very powerful speech.
he was admitted to being involved in a lynching which is a crime .. i.e. 2nd degree murder... there is an interview of the actual tank man photographer who also witnessed only soldier lynchings. Look it up.
I'm Chinese and moved to Canada in my teenage years. I did a book report on a noval based on tianamen store. I had no idea it was based on a true story until my teacher told me after the report.
I hope this guy was able to find peace within himself and let go of that weight and guilt that said he carried with him all those years for what happened to him.
@Soldat ᚦᚬᚩᛅᛄᚢᚠᚻᛈᛉᛋᛏᛒᛖᛗᛠᛢᛣᛥᚸ it was for the freedom of speech without them getting targeted by government(and probably killed) and to have proper human rights, basically to be like Hong Kong, not America.
@Soldat ᚦᚬᚩᛅᛄᚢᚠᚻᛈᛉᛋᛏᛒᛖᛗᛠᛢᛣᛥᚸ yeah, the survivors that's currently living here in the Philippines, I've talked to them and he explained that it was brutal on both sides, and that the Chinese military didn't hesitate to kill the protesters knowing that they were students. Philippines is known to refuge tons of persecuted Chinese citizen just because they want they're voices heard and in return China's government makes sure that they don't talk and they don't care whether you live or not.
They aren't trolling they are actually Chinese government agents spreading lies

Chinese government has a thing called "50 cent army" and probably many other groups. They pay people to go online and defend China, use their propaganda, and try to change the subject if China is ever being criticized for bad things the government has done... very sneaky and dishonest government
4:24 Thank you. I think people need to wise up that just because someone is opposing you does not meant they are necessarily your enemy. Its those kind of generalizations that keep the world divided.
Me too. The college students 30 year ago were brave. Nowadays, China government is controlling the young people, we can not even send a post contains the word like “parade” on forum of university。
Im independent, really, just live life.......... Why cant we all just be like families? I care about other just as i care about my mom... But what stops that is people seem to take others as strangers... Who dont have feelings like is individuals. I wasnt aware of something like this (the hatred), and that just made me so sad how society can never get along like families.
Then you are successfully brainwashed. I had the same thought with you too. But the more I learned about this, the more I found how powerful the western propaganda is. They are everywhere and you are brainwashed without notice.
Jeff Very true! Seen too many and everywhere in the West. Democracy is no longer democracy when the governments fabricate lies to fit their narratives and political agenda to brainwash their citizens and cloud their judgement.
This is so poignant and should be heard by everyone. I hope and pray the people of China stand up this time without bloodshed, I hope they don't back down x
HOng Kong may be the current Tiananmen Square as Xi Jinping is trying to surpass Mao Tze-tung's legacy by using Ms Carrie Lam as a political stooge. HK Stand Firm like the Tank Man, unknown but never forgotten. 6-21-2019
Raymond A Lew. It’s a different China now. Can’t you see how restrained the hk police are? In u.s any riots that harm police in this way. Likely they would be shot dead. It’s not exactly uncommon for police to people there if they suspect they have a weapon, and the cop can even continue his job.😉
That is good to hear from a young person. Just be aware the Democratic Party is no better than the Communists in charge in China who ordered the killing of the students. The DNC is the party of seething hatred and envy...Just listen to them.
my uncle told me that many of his fellows in the university went to Beijing, many of them just want to be there without being quite sure what they will be protesting for. and meanwhile many of them decided to leave the movement to tourism places or go back when they see what is actually happening and in the end survived from the disaster. there is not large scale protest without rioting. now after 30 years, after seeing what happend in HK, let's see what will happen in US. democracy is really a tiger balm, a matter without a clear standard and can be used for many goals and wills. as long as we can make good use of this word, we can do many demos of cracy...
btw, in my father and uncle's generation, it is also very hard to find who has a missing brother who died in the movement. at least i haven't heard a single one. there must be people died, but i'm not sure what is the number to be able to be called a massacre...
he was admitted to being involved in a lynching which is a crime .. i.e. 2nd degree murder... there is an interview of the actual tank man photographer who also witnessed only soldier lynchings. Look it up.
The leader of the student movement was notified before the murder, and finally they managed to escape. The remaining students regarded them as traitors.
Here is my understanding of TM. This event has a significant importance to contemporary Chinese history, which indicates the communist party destroyed the last hope of China become a democracy country in mainland China.
The way you put it is as if democracy is something good. All the democractic societies are broken and divided. Sold out to the highest bidders and their sponsors. Power to the people? Don't be naive. The real power of the people is lifting people off poverty and allowing them to have choices in life. That's real power.
“ decisions shall be made by adults over teenagers. A decision shall be made that one day the next generations are proud of the generation before them” LKY. China now, any complain still ?
Which Hk student? Nathan Law? He went to yale while his close associates went to jail. KInda the same with the instigators of tiananmen riot. They went and got asylum in usa, while their fellow students got jailed (or die or whatever). But a good thing tho. Middle class beijingers now live better life than many middle class new yorkers. While those traitors are living a life out of handout by usa govt.
@@diegobotto6245 I 've researched thoroughly. There is no massacre. The students walked out peacefully. Also check wikileaks for messages sent by brutish embassy back to London in that night. There are more evidences.
@@diegobotto6245 If you don't believe the Chinese ones, there are English ones by foreign journalists and diplomats who were there at that time. Do your research like I have.
The Peace Meditation Phrase Old Lyran written as: Salome gam nan ben Urda - gan njber asala Hesporona! pronounced as: Saalome gam naan ben uurda gan njjber asaala hesporoona! 中国人 : 愿和平在地球上,在所有的生物中。 Français : Que la paix soit sur la terre et parmi toutes les créatures ! Deng Xiaoping and Li Peng recognized that "doing some things that seem virtuous may result in one's ruin. How men live is so different from how they should live. A ruler who does not do what is generally done, but persists in doing what ought to be done, will undermine his power rather than maintain it."--Machiavelli.
The speaker told us that the photo was taken when massacre was still happening, while claimed the tank man is still alive. I found it hard to reason these two parts together. If the first part is true, why did the tank man survive? If the second part is true, why was there a massacre in Tiananmen (when evidence after evidence refute such claim)? I don’t understand it.
There were reporters during the event such as one from bbc and their live report is not hard to find from yt. Tank man video is taken one day after the event and they were leaving the scene, maybe they had no reason to do more damage as they already blood bathed the area
this is so ridiculous. so he said the massacres was on the next day. but tanks were so restrained? why not just run over the so called tank man? we have video footages showing that tankman was walking away with no harm? why just directly take him down?
Cuz this guy is a spy for Taiwan government, he used fake passport and ID do to spy work in China back in the 90s, of course he'll make up stories to attack China.
When you condemn your enemy a lier, you use lies after lies to attack your enemy and promote your “good ”, so what are you? You become the same kind of lier of your enemy. In other words, if we can’t trust your enemy, we can’t trust you either.
what happened to Tank man? 4 tanks stopped for him, then he climbed up to the tank.. I think if it happened anywhere in the world, he would be killed. But he was pushed to leave by his friends...
Now they are about to liberate Hongkong Joshua Wong for president. God may help you How many of you know Joe Hill? An american tank man. And there was no tank man 2 that time.
What a sad and powerful message to the countries and politicians that choose to dominate its citizens. Reminds me a lot of the war on ukariane and russia and the por young troops following orders that will only be forgotten and ridiculed by the history and context. More ptsd more pain.
Most Chinese no longer know what happened there. In Taiwan, we are always shocked by their ignorance when tourists visit and we tell them something their Internet blocks.
Very relevant to today because if you notice there are Chinese on this forum basically stating that they cannot have democracy as it causes too much unstabliity and it is not "safe". Meanwhile right now in the West, under the rationale of health safety (and needing a "Great Reset") that we could be on our way to losing our freedoms and taking on a system similar to Chinese social credit score. Our democratic systems are in great peril right now.
I'm always wandering which side is telling the truth, I always thought that tank man is being run over on the next second of the video until I lately saw a video shows the tank man is safely brought away by other pedestrians( they doesn't look like soldier ). And not able to see any video about the massacre, but several documents from the wikileak states there's no bloodshed observed during the 64 event. Then I start to think which side is giving false information....
Deng Xiaoping and Li Peng prudently exercised 'the state's legitimate coercive use of force' to save the nation from disintegration and prevent further disorders from developing with resultant killings. "It is desirable to be both loved and feared and if one of them has to be lacking, it is much safer to be feared than loved" -Machiavelli.
Why Chai Ling doesn't come out and tell the world how much money she received from the U.S. to con innocent students in China? Who flew her to U.S. before June 4?
HK already did that, student protest, break law, attack innocent, attack people with different opinion, burn people alive, occupied places and make ridiculous demand without compromise. than came the media coverage that is full of lies, bias, 1 sided news, make up story base on cropped pictures. what is missing in all these is PLA din come, atleast they learn and smarter this time not to give more excuses for the MSM to make falsify reports.
This comments are not the same as comments for videos about stuff like this for other countries? Y’all wanna dis China here fine. Let’s go dis America, and other countries too.
I feel so bad for the students that protested in 1989. They were good students and they loved their country. However, they are just tools that were brainwashed by western propaganda. China would become Soviet Union No. 2 if this succeeded. After so many years, the huge success of China's development just proved how wrong the movement was. PS: this man is very biased. He said the tank was there to kill people, that's ridiculously wrong. All the cameras are shooting, and the pilot must have been given the order NEVER to shoot under any circumstances. If he did, the western would find a perfect excuse to blame China. Very easy politics or common sense.
This had nothing to do with west at the time. The reason for the event was because of the more “fair” top guns died. Also at time there were a lot of corruption in the Chinese government which they wanted to get rid of as well. They were also concerned about the economy etc. you should study the event properly before making statements
I agree. The tank man scene happened a day after the event and they had no reason to Jill him anymore or attack. Maybe he got few months to few years of jail if they ever found him after.
This guy only gave the background of the story but not the TRUE DETAILS. We should not take a piece of information and treat it as the full complete picture !! How many times have we made up our minds when we only see a single clue... Million times !! People who are already NOT in favor of China would believe every single thing the opposition parties claim... That's when hatered / fear / misunderstanding continues for centuries & generations.
The rioters that year killed many soldiers . Why didn’t you mention it? I watched the video. The tank guy stood in front of the tank but the tank driver warned him and dodged him who was taken away by his fellow rioter.
