whenever you do decide to release it ill definitely read it :) you've impacted me a lot in a positive way as a young person at 15-17 today, helped me understand myself more and made me feel less alone

My mom exploited me she never let me experiment with myself privately /safely to learn who I was. Such a sacred valuable job of a parent. It breaks my heart. Thank you Daniel

“Confidentiality” - My mom used to tell my personal things to her gossip hen network and then their kids would tease me at school. I asked her to stop telling my personal information and she replied “I will talk about my kids”. After that I never told her anything and even hid my life. To this day I find myself “covering my tracks “ so to speak

Your mother lacked healthful boundaries because she did not have a healthy, defined sense of self. This the hallmark of dysfunctional families. Your awareness in confronting those memories is critical; it is your subconscious desire for validating and trustworthy relationships...and it is healthy!

That was my exact same experience with my mom. Although I wasn't teased what I shared I thought it was between us. As I got older I learned to not share hid my life as well.

I have this problem with my Mum. I don't tell her anything because she tells everyone. Nothing is confidential and she doesn't get it right when she tells it on anyway which is even more frustrating.
@Sketch_Sesh

@@sugarpuff2978 Yeah, It's not a good sign. It shows she doesn't really respect you or your privacy and it means you can't confide in her. She also may be allowing "frenemies" into your life. Eventually I had to go No Contact because she was just so toxic. She was also trying to steal money from me. Haven't spoken to her in years.

I agree with you. I have seen two psychologists and neither one really helped me. (One actually perpetrated abuse!) I have, like you, figured out my own problems; from reading and reading and reading and looking honestly at myself. From learning to be my own best friend❣️ Finally at the ripe old age of 70 I can say I am whole♥️ I have really enjoyed your story and your videos. Thank you❣️

A lot of parents are garbage. They couldn't competently raise a pet, much less a human.

Raising a child competly requires a level of social and emotional intelligence which most humans possess very little of.

If you're gonna write about your kids, do it in your journals, not your autobiography. The child gets to tell their own story. I believe that journaling and writing autobiograpies are so helpful for self-reflections and healing. I cannot stress writing enough as a healing tool.

Daniel ~ so many inspirations in this talk, so many words of wisdom. ♥️💌🐶 Yes, I love the idea of being allowed to tell my own story, to describe & define myself. I am aware of how disturbing & yucky it feels to be described by others, in some conclusive way. There is nothing conclusive about me ! I love what you said about being mindful & respectful of telling children’s stories out into the world, especially if it’s in the negative ...Bless you for being my virtual counselor ! May you be greatly rewarded. ♥️💝⛵️💌

This is so surreal because as I've been processing and thinking about writing autobiography lately... it seems like it would be super therapeutic. Like just being able to read that all back and he like "wow I lived this...." Seriously though I want to write it for me but for a trauma specialist (cause I need help lol.)

It really is amazing. I find that revisiting my journals, especially when I hit a rough patch, can be inspiring as well as deeply touching, but always meaningful. Caring for oneself is reinforced by regular journaling as it allows for checking in and taking stock of our our wellness and our path to self-actualization.

I absolutely agree with your idea that kids can talk about their parents but not vice versa. In fact, I think it applies to any kind of power differential. Anyone in a position of power should not be able to talk about people below them, but being in a position of power surrenders your right to privacy in that regard. Parents and children, bosses and employees, students and teachers, citizens and police or political leaders.

Why is writing a therapeutic tool?
@frankstared
@frankstared 4 года назад
@Alex Well said. It can also be nonjudgmental which is of critical importance in healing from abuse and trauma. Free-form writing in particular can provide a window into self-analysis. In this style of journaling you might begin with a specific thought, memory or problem, but you non-judgmentally allow your stream of consciousness to direct your writing. What come may be intense and scary but it is critical for self-knowledge, the requisite for awareness. In my opinion, the degree to which we attempt to control that journaling direction is the corresponding degree of repression we have retained as a self-defense mechanism.

I’d just like to add that, any parents out there should feel free to write about their children and their experiences as a parent if it can help them reflect and grow. Although, of course it should be kept personal and secret and not published. I just thought it was a little unclear that Daniel said nobody should write about their children. Well, if you’ve been a parent for twenty years then how else would you reflect on that time?

I believe in writing and it saved me in youth. but now I am too affected by alonely /near-isolation and too burnt out -sick to think- function-write well enough alone for it to have meaning. If I could make a healing-diary online... But I don't know how to and they have talken my money. i need a Fund-me-account, but am unable to learn and set one up.

Lol I’ve never been ashamed of my anti-social behavior; no one inspires me to fawn over them (platonically)... There’s something about people that come off as clingy that makes me question the quality of their character, tho. Because there’s no reason to be so invasive and idk, there’s this invisible set of ‘rules’ pertaining to respecting other semen-demon’s. Unless there’s a **mutual** click; but it’s been almost a decade since I’ve had that with some one (I lost her phone number after my injury; and she doesn’t do social media, because #peoplearecreeps ).
